I opposed the Vietnam war, but if I had been drafted, I would have gone. Too many other young men of all colors had died so that I could enjoy living in America. I had a high draft number and was the sole surviving male in the family (my Dad and brother died in '68). Funny how we are told to look up the definition of racism, while we are all at the mercy of Dickie's 'interpretation' of the definition of draft dodger. Just saw on the news a police chase pursuing a perp who stole a truck and boat from PN and drove thru Beaumont all the way to Sulphur LA. before his tires got flattened. He will be charged with attempted murder of a police officer among lots of other charges. Shouldn't we hold the truck manufacturer responsible for this wreckless behavior? Heck, throw the boat manufacturer in the mix too. That boat could have killed someone. Sorry, it makes as much sense as holding gun manufacturers responsible for someone going crazy with a gun.

Friends I knew in high school were drafted and some of them killed in Vietnam. First class, second class, third class, it didn't matter. The draft applied to everyone.....even Elvis.

Ali had to face the greatest list of contenders. I can name most of them and anyone who lived back then probably can name the top 3 (Frazier, Foreman, and Norton). Larry Holmes era came next and he went undefeated, but I can't recall a big name he faced. Ali took a shot at Holmes, who was previously Ali's sparring partner, in a fight that should have been stopped. To this day I can't believe it wasn't. I believe it led to his deteriorating condition, but that's just me. Ali WAS the greatest. He could slide (avoid) a punch better than anyone I have ever seen. From his brash fighting days, he became the world's most r cognizable face and became a fine ambassador for the US. May he R.I.P.
