Well not casting dispersions, but new coach...new direction...new philosophy...increased expectations on kids commitment = Little Johnny aint getting his love and thinks that somebody is gonna beg them to play...In the end the pony gets broke and they play ball. (JMO) or maybe I am wrong and they have just lost interest, but I just don't see that in Hardin.

In High School Football the coach actually can and does play a big roll in one of his players being recruited and signed to play College Football. But when a kids like Hudson, Brown or Arnold...yes I know there are many more, just an example...anyway, kids like that are a different story because they become an attraction and they generate their own attention and recruitment with very little help from the Head Coach or OC/DC coach.  Coach Smith has had several kids he has coached under his Offense go D-1 so I think he has the experience to help kids at all playing levels. The question as to why certain players are going to Silsbee vs going to the save all end all hands down best athletic program in the land...WOS...look at life past Athletics and tell how damn important that is because such a small percentage of players can even move on to the next level. The object of have a great athletic program is and needs to be more about carving out young men and women that understand what it means to be committed and dedicated to something other than themselves . It's there to create self confidence and self worth. It's there to be a guiding hand for ACADEMICS. Oh it's neat to watch a kid get next level opportunities but it's even better to run into a kid years later and they are a successful person contributing to humanity being a good citizen.  Just my dumb opinion and something that's on my heart because I have been on the College athlete kick and focused on the wrong thing! Wish I had a do over!!!

One thing for sure...this is a high school baseball game...when I say what I'm gonna say I am speaking being guilty of being hot and at times angry at calls ect...parents try to focus on enjoying watching your kid do what they love because they grow up to dang fast and it's easy to miss a lot of fun stuff being pissed. Let the Coaches and Officials do their job...once again this is coming from a guilty party, but you live and learn and yes, you do regret and wish for a redo! Enjoy the game folks it's the most awesome game ever!

Wow...very surprised at Warren. They are better than this and this team needs to pull it together and get focused or they could be sitting at home talking about what could have been. Congrats to a young but tough Cougars! With exception to Kirbyville spots 2-3-4 are shaping up to be a dog fight between Buna, Hardin, Warren and Kountze (not in any order) don't think Deweyville or Anahauc will have a real path and EC is in total rebuild...although I did have the opportunity to watch some of the talent they have coming up this past summer and they will be fine in the long haul.

I know WOS is good but Silsbee will beat them this year. I know that's crazy...stupid...ect...but y'all write down. I saw a Silbee team this past year stay on the field with WOS and could have seriously challenged but stupid mistakes, lack of discipline and a lacking defensive game plan gave WOS the game IMO. WAS NOT A TALENT ISSUE. I believe everything changes this year and WOS is gonna get a game. No matter what WOS will be very successful this year and so will Silsbee. Ok y'all tear me up! LMBO

IT'S IN THE BONE got a reaction from rhino1877 in Silsbee coaching thread!?
Here is my take about the removal guys...I realize this is a privately owned site and does not have to allow all points of view or positions, but guys it's just that that brings viewership to the site and in turn drives advertising to support the site...I have a pretty deep background in media and you are walking a tight rope here. When you are employed by a public entity like an ISD and you are a Head Coach...well being thrust into the public eye is just part of the gig. When the cameras show up on Friday night after a big win and you are praised...well that too is part of the gig. I don't think any media source should allow  slanderous things to be published or broadcast about them or those they love. Race is part of life and that discussion will always be around and shuttering it is worse than the discussion. So if the reason for pulling the thread was because of slander by a member than the thread should have been taken down and that individual should have been kicked off the site. But know the definition of slander???Be right in your judgement. Be careful because censorship is dangerous especially if it is selective. Once again this is a privately owned site that is open to the public and it uses public issues to attract members and participants and income. I love this site and I have respect for its owner and administrators but once again I raise caution to the direction and tone you are setting if the reason for dumping the thread was not derived from slanderous behavior. JMO and please I mean absolutely no disrespect.

Mr. Green Jeans is hitting upon the truth. Look I am as positive a person as you can get on Kountze Athletics, but i have to be real at the same time. When a school distric spends appox 1/2 or less on each Athlete as they do another extra curricular activity and then when you look out across the field on Friday Nights and your opponent has 5 and 8 more coaches than you do...well 2+2=4 (athletics have been deemed non-essential) When your track program can't uniform everybody properly and Baseball and Softball cant buy field conditioner or even needed equipment but other programs can provide private tutorials to the tune of thousands of dollars (again athletics is deemed non-essential) when the community demands that the athletic program, in it's entirety, not just Basketball, be supported then and only then will you have a succesful program. Look at the successfull programs and look at the community support and demand...even when the success wains the participation does not because the community supports their high school athletics. This is not the fault of the coaches and certainly not the fault of the kids. If this honest statement makes you mad at me for saying it...then your part of the problem. I love to watch kids play sports and be successful, because it builds successful people.

It's cool If the school has $100,000 to send him to college If he tares a knee or ankle up. Otherwise he has to be comfortable in playing. Can't be mad either way because it's his future we're talking about.  IJS

    1. You have to play in front of scouts.
    2. You have to be good enough to play at the next level. If you're not good, you ain't going anywhere. If you feel like you're a big time guy or you have a big time kid, go to Perfect Game. If you're legit, somebody will call.
You have to go in to jucos with the mindset that the coaches aren't there to develop guys for 3 or 4 years, it's a "what can you do for me now" business at the juco level. They only have you for 2 yrs max...
