  1. HJS 7th wins both games against Baytown Jr. I don't remember the scores, but both teams won by 20+.

My son played his first basketball game ever and scored 4 points for HJS and 2 points for BJS (he got a little confused when the 2nd half started).

Over all, it was good to see him participate in an athletic event.

That's funny, my youngest almost did the same thing in the Gentry 7B game. He took a shot on the BH South basket. I'm glad he missed. lol

  2. Well now its that time. Who all has youngsters playing ball. I have one this year. Coming over from football and it will be a big transition for him.

1st year basketball player but he seems to be picking it up. He will be on the HJS 7B team but hey I am proud he tried and made a part of the team.

Both my boys are trying out. The 8th grader will find out today what team he'll be on. I'm not sure when 7th grade will fiind out. They have a quick turn around this year. The first game is on the 20th.

  3. That was only my second GCM game this year. The Patriots have great athletes but just like the Sterling game, their execution looks sloppy. Fumbled snaps, missed pitches, that's something that should have been cleaned up in practice by now. Plus the defensive line looks undersized. In a 3-4 you got to have some guys that can keep the linemen off the linebackers.

Also saw a couple of CE King coaches at the game last night.

  4. It was an exciting game, frustrating on our part but fun to watch. Here's hoping the the folks at the UIL take a geography lesson and put GCM and Lee in the same district as BH, Crosby, and Dayton in the next two years. As a parent of two future GCM Patriots I'd much rather play our neighbors where there are natural rivalries than drive to Beaumont every other weekend to play schools we don't know a whole lot about.

  5. Well if there's one thing the Mustangs do well it's put points on the board. I'm not saying ya'll don't have a good defence, you might have the best we see all year. But if you look back at all the scores I've posted you'll notice a trend. I'll put it in Dayton speak for ya, there's a lot of crooked numbers. More then you can count on all your fingers and toesies. Nobody has shut our offence down yet. Not even BH North. They won the turnover battle and out scored us.

In fact, in the two years this team has played together they have been held under twenty once and thirty twice and that was last year in our second and third game of the season. So we'll see what happens.
