I watched a couple local guys out-play Justin Jackson, HYCA, last year in a Nederland bball tourney. One might think that the local players were better since they "beat" him that day. But turn on the TV Thursday and watch Jackson, Tar Heel Fr, playing Wisconsin in the sweet 16. I don't know a lot, but I trust Roy Williams recruiting ability better than my own. Same for Nick Saban with Tony Brown. Many times during senior seasons of highly recruited players with "Pro" potential, they will take plays, and sometimes games, off. I don't like it but I also can't blame them. Tony Brown is a freak of nature and will be in the NFL. That's a fact jack!

very well spoken, typed, put.. some go off of their own personal feelings/opinions when it comes to their evaluation of players.. when you evaluate Tony you should keep in mind that he only played CB his Fr. and Sr. b/c of the defensive schemes he played in. Tony played in a zone blitz scheme his soph and jr years from the safety position which was a better fit for the players around him. his sr yr Tony played man to man which is why he is was the top recruit in the state of texas his ability to play man coverage was un matched by any other hs player in the state.. KC Cannon was one of the top 5 WR in the country in their class and tony at times made him look mediocre.. someone keeps bringing up Rose from PNG, good kid no dought but no one has mentioned the 102 yard int return Tony brought back against PNG when they kept trying to force Rose the ball. I mean seriously I think Im gonna go with Nick Saban and his recruiters evaluation of Tony Brown then some qb club board member who couldnt spot talent if it sat at the same dinner table with em

You know people in SETX are too close to the situation when they try to put two kids that saw limited time in the Southland conference in a category with the most highly recruited player to ever come out of the area. Tell the truth! He was a walk on on the scout team and his dad payed tuition for him to go 1 year.

You know dang good and well if he would have received offers he would have gone AND it would have been in the paper.

Don't know why PNG peeps think their kids are more talented than College scouts, all district pickers, etc...do?

I agree on UMass. But maybe a shot here? Not THAT long ago when UH had top 5 teams. And he would no longer be at Bama. They had some really bad years before he got there. I probably agree with you slightly though due to the difference in conferences from the Ware/Klingler days and now. But if U of H ever gets in the Big 12 (like recent talk has suggested), I would definitely disagree.

Lol Crosby going to beat the brakes of Ned in a hurry.

Maybe the terms "open up" and "spread" are a little misleading. It'll be a spread in the sense that the qb will take snaps from the gun instead of under center and they'll probably call a few more plays from a sugar huddle or at the line. Since Charlie has taken over I think they've only signed one interior lineman other than Cuney and Vahe who were already committed, they're building an offensive line using mostly high school tackles that should mirror Arkansas' line in a couple of years. Texas' spread will look a lot more like Urban Meyers' spread offenses at Florida with Tebow and his current Ohio State team. I don't know if you saw the playoff game but there wasn't much around the corner running on 'Bama, it was blowing people off the ball and running right through their front seven. Texas isn't going to run a finesse air raid like A&M, Tech or Baylor. Kam would have more of a Daje Johnson or Romance Taylor type role versus the load back role Warren and Foreman will play.

If you talk about odds of winning a State title, I'd go out on a limb and say unless your name is Katy, Aledo, and such your odds are pretty low. Hopefully someone from the surrounding area can make a run. I'd much rather have those expectations than to just make the playoffs. Can't wait for the season to start, favorite time of the year!

Bitter isn't close to strong enough of a word. You give credit where it's due though. The vitriol lasts until bi-district starts, after that we buy tickets to each other's playoff games like we have for the last 30 combined years.

Ned and PNG may be a bigger game and have a bigger following but the Crosby vs Dayton game probably means more at this point.

Texas giving some love to 21-5A kids. Texas junior day list includes Keenan Murphy and Tray Williams along with Devwah Whaley. Looks like the Horns are also very high on Crosby 2017 DB, Taylor Perry, if I'm not mistaken he was the only 2017 invited. Crosby could have as many as 4 FBS kids in the '17 class. Terio Brown is another '17 back from Humble that's a carbon copy of a younger Tray Williams. There's some crazy backs coming through 21-5A recently.

Site I'm looking at has incomplete team history before 2006.What it does show 2006-2010(5)yrs totals & Stewarts last 5 yrs as HC before AD years=Dayt 48-16-1 Ned same yrs 27-26

This will be Crosby's only tough district game on the road next year which sets up great for Crosby to make another run. Crosby gets Angleton, Humble, KP, New Caney AND King at home next year. I just hope this one is another classic, last year's game was the game of the week.
