Crosby 24 Richmond George Ranch 31/FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
I tell you what though. There’s nothing to be ashamed about in this one. Offense needs to clean it up but that defense is legit. Crosby can win a lot of games this year with some slight improvement on what they did last night. -

Crosby 24 Richmond George Ranch 31/FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Football
The absolute last thing I thought would be that Crosby would have 10 first half points against anyone. My next unexpected thought would be holding George Ranch to two first half tds. -
I don’t think Paetow can finish any higher than 4th in their district with Manvel, Angleton and Foster and if they can’t beat FB Hightower I’m not even sure they make the playoffs? However, I think they’re a good football team who’s well coached and an excellent prep game for what BH will see in district play with Crosby, PNG and Dayton. The reason I think it’ll be a good game for BH is because they’ll probably hang their hat on defense again this year. Paetow has good size on the o-line, speed on the edges and a rising junior qb who’s probably about to land some FBS offers. That’ll be pretty impressive if the BH defense can shut them down regardless of what Paetow does from there on out.

Nederland @ Huntsville/ GAME HAS BEEN CANCELED
Cougar14.2 replied to chorizo's topic in High School Football
Good chance for Nederland to knock off a good team before they get rolling. Huntsville lost a lot last year, including the coach’s son who was a three year starter at qb. They also lost two beast on a defensive line which really was the strength of their entire team last year. I believe their stud linebacker also graduated and signed with North Texas. One thing about Huntsville is that they’re pretty big for a 5A-D2 team so I do expect that to be an issue for Nederland. -
Goose Creek Memorial @ Klein Forrest
Cougar14.2 replied to BlackShirts5's topic in High School Football
Klein Forest was 0-10 last year but still has Klein ISD level athletes when they don’t choose to transfer to Collins, Oak and now Cain. KF has a young new head coach so you would think there’s going to be some improvement but if GCM can’t clear this hurdle in the opener it’s probably going to be a long year for the Patriots considering the district they play in. -
I would’ve much rather put 50 on one of the Baytown schools or one of the 6As from HISD and used it like an extra week of preparation for Manvel. But yeah, GR still has the same type kids that won the 5A-D1 title in 2015 so this will definitely be a test for Crosby.

Yes sir, I will most definitely be there. Going to put a few miles on the old Dodge over the next couple days as I’ll also be in Richmond tomorrow to see one of my little guys get his first high school carries. Yes, Samuel’s namesake is on varsity and from everything I can tell starts at one of the inside receiver positions. They moved him up last year at the end of his freshman season, saw him getting some run against Willowridge in the playoffs. I expect him to be Crosby’s next FBS recruit at the wr position. Crosby will field one of their more talented teams in recent memory this year. I expect them to win the district but considering the first two games I think 9-4 or 10-3 would be a solid overall year. The offense is going to be very good. I just don’t know if the defense, and in particular the secondary, can hold up with as much as they’re probably going to be on the field. Now, if they come out Thursday night and beat GR I would consider that the best win of any of the top ten in 5A-D2 and instantly elevate expectations barring injuries.

Welp, so much for the Cougars trying to ease into the season. Crosby gets their opener with Carthage cancelled and Coach Prieto chooses to replaces them with even stiffer competition in the George Ranch Longhorns. The Longhorns finished 5-7 last year losing to Humble in the 2nd round of the 6A-D2 playoffs. Crosby finished 6-6 in Jerry Prieto’s first opportunity as the lead guy. Just like Crosby, George Ranch brings back their leading passer, rusher and receiver. GR will have the advantage on both lines of scrimmage and also have two of the better offensive prospects on the southwest side of town in junior running back Hymond Drinkard and Baylor commit Javon Gipson at wide receiver. Crosby should be able to hold their own at the offensive skill positions but like most years they’ll only go as far as the defense will allow. Good test for both teams in the season opener albeit for two different reasons.

IDK about 2020? It was in some places in 2019 though. It wouldn’t have applied to this kid though, he has relatively short hair from what I’ve seen. I was told his dad just changed his mind after hearing about it. Could’ve very well been other factors also, that’s just the only one I was told.
-
I prefer MSNBC. Who the qb is now is irrelevant to anything I posted about the kid transferring. Just responded to another Crosby poster with what I was told by the guy who I consider the foremost expert on boys athletics in BH at the job. I doubt TW even entertains the idea of another qb if he’s excited about what he already has, but that’s just my opinion. Underclassmen qbs for BH have been beating Crosby, they’re 2-7 their last nine tries on varsity. Had Howard not torn his ACL I think that’s 1-8, but again that’s just my opinion.
-
I don't think they did this year? They were supposed to get a sophomore qb named Tyler Durst from Clear Lake but I was told his parents changed their minds after the hair issue.
-
Yes it is, I feel like he could reach 4-star level like Netherly did if he stay healthy and things go his way. Probably a group of 5 kid at the worst. Going to be solid edition to those 4 skill returners I mentioned, I think the other kid I was talking about may have just changed jersey numbers? With Samuel in there and if they start Ray both ways it's going to make three of our 4 starting recivers over 6' tall with Wilson, who's our burner, checking in at about 5'10". Dunn looks like he slept in the weight room all Summer and seems primed for a good year too. We're a little smaller than you would like on the o-line but if Branch can maintain the level of play he did in the playoff games, this offense will be on the level with the '17 team. Crosby fans should be very excited.
-
I don’t think they’re free agents, not sure who they are? We couldn’t really sit in groups at the scrimmage so I didn’t catch any of the usual random comments regarding the kids. I know one kid I really like is just a sophomore they moved up to varsity as a freshman at the end of the year. Good possibility the other kids was on the freshman or jv last year too. My son went to school in the DFW area last year so I didn’t catch any underclassmen games to be able to verify who’s who. My biggest takeaways were; 1. Jaylen Herman is a savage. Picked up where he left off against Huntsville. 2. We probably need more of a threat at the backup rb position. 3. The jv QB looks like a mini Johnny Football, could end up being a player for us if he grows some.
-
Top four offensive skill guys(QB, RB, 2WRs) came back for Crosby and it looks like it. We also have a couple of additions. Crosby hasn't looked this good at the skill positions as a collective since 2015. I would expect them to be one of the best 5A offenses in the state if they can stay healthy. We will see what the defense looks like when we scrimmage Tomball this week.

Man, I got on here for the first time in months to give some props to Vidor for the progress I saw yesterday. For whatever reason I decided to start to read a thread or two. After reading this cesspool of comments I decided it’s not even worth it. MAGAt logic: Lebron should shut up and dribble while Drew “is a human and allowed to have an opinion”. Guess black people are still animals . . . Or maybe just still 3/5 of a person as stated by law? MAGAt logic: Kneeing in protest disrespects the military and flag. Yet, if you fought in WW2 like my uncle did and don’t abide by white rule you get hung in your uniform. No disrespect there though. This area down here would literally be more pissed if the cop kneeled on a dog like that vs a black person. Next time my 11 year old son comes to me and ask “Dad, why do the white Poole want to kill us”, I’ll just let him read these comments. In the words of a famous street poet, “Ain’t nothing changed but the numbers and the names”. Why did they riot in the 60’s in Watts, Detroit and Baltimore? Because “If a child does not feel the warmth of the village then he may burn the village to feel the warmth of its fire”. It just seems more noticeable now because other races have joined in. On the flip side, why did white people burn down “black Wall Street” in Tulsa? Well that’s easy, they just wanted all the blacks gone. Until you can understand those statements you’ll never understand things like welfare and abortion rates, income disparity, crime statistics and lack of representation. Until then they’ll just be liberals and leaches. See y’all in November maybe. I’ve read enough of this type stuff on 4chan.

Crosby 79 Houston Northside 47/FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
That is very interesting. Especially since both head coaches were black, as were 95% of the kids on the court and one of the refs was too. -
I think this is going to be the first game all year Crosby really feels the impact of Kaleb Stewart transferring to Atascocita after last season, I would maybe even give Crosby the edge had he still been there. That being said, if the super sophomore PJ Haggerty can get an efficient 35+ Crosby may still have a chance. He averaged 40ppg in the five game McDonalds tournament to start the season, led the district in scoring and is coming off a 33 point performance in a 30+ point win against HISD district champion Houston Northside. This will probably be Crosby's last game of the season but if you're just a fan that wants to see a crazy high school basketball environment and probably the two best sophomores in the Houston area go at it then come to Delmar fieldhouse tomorrow. I won't be surprised to see Griggs and Haggerty go for 80 combined points.
-
Well, it looks like you got at least one thing right then. I scanned through that as how many times Crosby has played in December since that's what you seem to be hung up on about my earlier post. I've made thousands of posts on here and have probably done that dozens of times trying to get a response in before a meeting or leaving the office. If I cared about looking foolish to someone that I don't know, doesn't know me, will never meet and doesn't provide any financial sustenance to my family, then I would actually care about your opinion. I do my research, support it conclusions with auxiliary data and stand on it. Like BH fan said, you're just peeing in the wind with me.
-
Which is why I said he wasn't the first person from outside the area to point that out. My wife isn't from the area and pointed that out long ago.
-
Point out where "I constantly ragged on BH". Then compare whatever you find to the amount of times BHFAN commented on Crosby in threads that had nothing to do with BH. What you'll eventually realize boomer is that individual losses to whoever the team may be doesn't bother me at all, it's the practicing all week and still not being prepared to play on Friday that I had an issue with. I'm sure if I'm the weak link that one of the coaches will call me and let me know.

MARCUS GRAHAM HIRED AS BEAUMONT UNITED FOOTBALL COACH!
Cougar14.2 replied to 2wedge's topic in High School Football
I mean, you kind of pointed out what I was saying. He had a difficult job and was trending in the right direction. More than that though, I think he's the right "fit". I would put him on the level of someone like a Sadd Jackson if given the right tools. Hiring a guy like they just did I would imagine the win/loss record wasn't as important as hiring someone with a cleaner background.
