I’m sure they would appreciate it. We could finally put in that indoor facility were missing to go with the rest of them.
-
Sure, see y’all on the field.

I did and still do think there were better qualified people for the job. Where he’s proving me wrong is him being in over his head. I’m still not overly sold but I’m also not going to keep running the man down when the team was clearly improving throughout the season. We’re not Vidor, we’re not ok with losing to bad teams like Vidor like people from Vidor are. There were plenty of people in the stands expressing the same sentiments, loudly. Maybe your school district should look into renting some extra FEMA trailers so people stop evacuating your town?

1. Crosby - Brings back all starters at the offensive skill positions. Lost three very key pieces on the defensive side of the ball but if we can improve overall in the secondary I expect this team to be playing in December. 2. PN-G - Like what they have coming back In the QB. Even with a third place finish they’ll have a good chance to get to the third round with Manvel out of the district. I’m not a huge believer in the potential second round opponents A&M-C/Huntsville after how they were hit by graduation this past year. 3. Barbers Hill - Lost the bell cow in Kaopua and their first FBS signee who was instrumental in grading the way for him, Casey Collier. Heard that Westeberg has another transfer qb coming in to take over the starting job instead of the kid who was put in at the end of the Manvel game. Not sure of the grade or eligibility status so I guess we’ll see. 4. Kingwood Park - 4 of their 5 losses last year were by 28+ points so it feels wrong to put them here but they did beat PAM and they have a returning qb. No matter the district KP usually finds a way to back in the playoffs. I like their chances a little more than Nederland’s. 5. Nederland - I think you’re going to need to score this year in the district and I think Ned will have the worst offense of these top 5 teams. I really like a couple of the skill guys the have returning but I don’t honk it’s enough to keep them from going from 4th to 5th with the addition of KP. 6. Dayton - First year head coach who I really, really think is the man for Dayton as long as he’s given free range over staff hires. They’re going to ruin someone’s season this year and I hope it isn’t Crosby’s. Watch out if their participation rates jump back to where they were this season during the Stewart era, they might still be in he mix for a playoff spot in late October. 7. Texas City - Maybe they flip flop with Dayton but I don’t see anything you can point to as a legitimate argument to move them up. They were outscored 313-122 and will be breaking in a new starter at qb. Coach Surovik’s teams have been grinders since he took over but he’s been a little short on talent lately. 8. Santa Fe - As long as they don’t have another school shooting to galvanize them they’re right back here where you normally find them in the football standings.

I think Semaj McCall is going to potentially lead the district in rushing but outside of that TC is kind of a wildcard IMO? They had so many blowout games last it’s hard to gauge them. I think they’ll have a good defense in this district but I’m not sure with the ultra-basic offense they run if they can really win games without the Foreman Twins type talent.

Your forgot to point out that we actually did lose the game to an even worse Vidor team in regulation.
-
Like they say, "If you're scared then go to church". I'm just glad we were too broke to get embarrassed by Vidor so we scheduled a layup with Carthage instead. I heard Coach P called Coach Samples at Duncanville but they didn't want any because they would have to pass through North Shore to get to Crosby, I need to firm that up with my sources though. Hard to know how kids are going to perform off a 185 mile bus ride to start the season but if we're healthy I think Crosby beats Manvel for the 2nd time in three years goes 1-0 against PAM in our first ever matchup. After watching Crosby average 50 points per contest in 5 of 6 games to close out the season and with us bringing all our skill players back, I'm expecting Coach P to be able to parlay that into one of the top two or three offenses in the region if not the best. I'm as confident in Crosby this year as the coach who scheduled the games.
-
Same under Flannigan. Pearland Dawson, Atascocita, Ennis and Waco University are some I remember. He just didn’t put forth the the same effort in winning them.
-
Well, you can’t say Coach P isn’t confident. P.S. - Holy $&@!
-
There was a game cancelled/not scheduled when Flannigan was here. Without going back to check would bet Crosby has equal or more rushing yards than Vidor in those matchups. You just put a lot more emphasis on those yards because it’s your Super Bowl.
-
Not butt hurt at all, quite the contrary. Vidor was awful and we lost to them, that was proven when y’all averaged 7ppg the six district games after us until you got to play Dayton. I’ve seen enough Vidor teams to know that before we even played, and as such if Crosby was going to even be halfway decent that’s not one they should’ve lost to. I thought that before the game and outside one anomaly was proven right the rest of the season. Like MBG said, it was your Super Bowl and y’all won it. Congrats! We’ve just watched Coach Rio average ten wins per season over his tenure and Coach Flannigan get fired for putting together seven consecutive playoff seasons prior to that. The way Crosby looked the first 1/3 of the season considering the amount of talent we have should’ve been concerning to all Cougar fans. That was all coaching, including being out-coached by Matthews. Turns out the chef might’ve just been getting used to the new appliances and seems to be a pretty good cook. We’re glad to have him, looking forward to getting my son back from the DFW to come play for him. Appreciate the offering but our kids were never not going to go to their competition. Parents would’ve pooled together or some business would’ve donated but you can guarantee they would’ve gone. I’m glad we’re too broke to ride to Vidor, we get to go to Port Arthur instead.
-
Glad to hear that. Looking forward to seeing who the other two games are? Hopefully we avoid a trip to Corpus.
-
Angleton actually didn’t make the playoffs last year, would’ve easily won our district though. I think their district got easier with Manvel replacing Shadow Creek. Most brutal district to me is 8-5A-D1 with Lufkin, College Station, Magnolia, Magnolia West, New Caney and NC Porter. All 6 teams made the playoffs last year. NC could go from 10-0 to missing the playoffs.
-
Never had a single problem at Barbers Hill either.
-
You’d have to ask the school district, they’re the ones that made Flannigan cancel the game. I would say it’s around the same time you enlightened me about Vidor running for 400 yards on Crosby though.
-
Well, you should know from past history that Crosby ISD doesn’t allow any of its teams to make unnecessary trips to Vidor. Plus, if we wanted our kids discriminated against I’m sure Barbers Hill will already be on the schedule.

Major major major hire for Dayton! Don’t see how a guy like Blake Ware takes this job if it doesn’t eventually lead to the AD position also. Nations is just probably under contract for another year or so? Either way, this is how get back into the game. That’s assuming Dayton doesn’t Dayton the situation up and not him to hire the staff he needs. New Caney used to be awful. Coach Pennington gets all the credit for turning them into what they are now, as he should, but in my opinion the real architect behind NC’s rebuild was Ware. He was mostly responsible for getting kids like his son Timmy Ware, Marte Allison and others to transfer with him from St. Pius X and begin the NC turnaround. Mix that with the growth in that area and NC is what you see now. Wouldn’t at all be surprised to see Ware still call plays as head coach, which is somewhat common these days. I think Dayton has a good chance to retain him long term if given the AD position because they’ll be more than willing to offer competitive compensation if they start really winning again. From Coach Ware’s standpoint you’re going to be at a school where you can build a perennial powerhouse in your classification. I think Dayton is going to get to play in 5A-D2 for quite some time which is going to help coach Ware immensely in rebuilding the program. Again, Coach Ware needs to be able to hire the guys he wants. If he’s allowed to, I expect Dayton to be back in the playoffs and maybe even competing for district championships within a couple of years. It’s also dependent on him being able to increase the participation rates again, which is something that’s usually a given when a losing regime leaves. I’m pleased with our coach now, but this is the type hire I wouldn’t have mind seeing Crosby make when they were searching. Congrats Dayton fans, better times are coming of your system doesn’t get in the way.

Crosby's o-line coach went to CC Miller to be the OC. How can CC Miller lose 72-35 to a 5 win team like Vidor was, miss the playoffs completely after a 6 win season then go 12-1 this year missing the regional final by a turnover? The answer to your question is because it's next year Hawking. They also have very good talent comparable to their district the same way Crosby does. No one is predicting that at BH because no one at BH thinks y'all can. They saw how physically outmatched y'all were, same would've happened with FB Marshall, A&M Con. and Huntsville too.The Manvel fans on their thread during the game said they thought Willowridge was better than BH and said the only reason y'all were 11-1 is because y'all hadn't played anybody, which kind of rubbed me. BH doesn't matchup, they're coached up which is a good thing in most cases. Now the best player you've ever had is leaving and unless y'all give another one of our kid's mom a job we're not sending you anymore. I didn't always predict Crosby would win the region after we won district either. We've seen it done and did it without one D1 signee that year. With the way Coach P had the kids playing at the end of the season mixed with what we have coming back and the fact that we will actually have an offseason this year, I expect Crosby to be a lot better if healthy. Crosby being a lot better stratified with FB Marshall and Huntsville being hit hard by graduation only leaves A&M Con. as a real worry which would be a 3rd round game as it sits now. Just like I told you how FB Marshall would win the region over Manvel after you said they were going to lose to A&M Con, I'm telling you this now so don't be surprised.
-
Reading you post I would've thought Reggie Branch sucked. Now it looks like he'll probably be receiving offers this Spring since he escaped GCCISD. Turns out is was just GCM that made him look like that.
-
I've been taking it on here for nearly a decade. I just wonder how long you've been following my work to say something like that though, lol? We have 0 state championships which is the same number everybody else currently in 5A has in this area since probably the late 70's. Matter of fact, I can't name a team in the entire Houston area currently in 5A that has a state title recently. I think Shadow Creek gets one this year before they go to 6A similarly to what George Ranch did before they moved up. Our 5A football is nowhere close to the DFW's and that's on a whole, not just Crosby.
-
The difference is that BH fans thought they had a good defense because they shut down Crosby, we lost to Vidor too . . . In actuality it was wet toilet paper like the other defenses in the district which was proven when Manvel lost 40-10 the very next week after hanging 55 on them in basically three quarters. Crosby fans have been everywhere except the dance and we've played all the powerhouses in the region except A&M Con. since Fedora has been there, I think we have a more realistic grasp on what we are and what it takes to do more than win a district championship.
-
I know one thing I won't miss is the aroma of argon that permeates Vidor and having to fight people living in pop-up campers by the stadium for parking spots.
-
Pretty crazy, right? Imagine how crazy Manor fans must've looked saying they could beat Cedar Park and play for the region after going 5-5. Better yet is those crazy Taylor fans who finished 6-6 last year, 4th in their district at 5-5 this year and now will be playing Westlake in the semis Saturday. I could go on and on but I think you get it. Plus the only time I remember us playing Lumberton it was 35-0 in the first quarter.
-
Waltrip is down too, I would think that's the team most likely to replace Manvel in district 11 and put Texas City wherever Santa Fe goes.
-
If I was a Vidor fan I would be trying to figure out how Crosby's first year coach already has half as many playoff win as Jeff Matthews who's been there for 17 years I believe. I didn't realize y'all would still be waiting on FEMA checks when I made the statement in 2011 about that being your only 5A bi-district win for the foreseeable future but congrats on dropping to 4A, maybe you'll get to meet Calallen.
