The only problem I see with teams like Silsbee is the fact that they win a vast majority of their games (until deep in the playoffs) by running and overwhelming teams with less athleticism. I'm not saying that they don't have good basketball players, or that they aren't a good team. I'm just saying that I think the days of winning state titles by overpowering opponents with speed are dwindling. There will always be a team that you just won't beat by doing that because they are just good basketball players. I would take a good half court defense with players that are very good with the ball on the offensive end over a team that averages 100 points a game by forcing turnovers any day.

You can pull up that thread and read every word if you like. I said after my initial comment that I didn't mean that they were exposed...I meant that a weakness was exposed. Which it was. Liberty moved the ball at will during that game..just missed a couple scoring opportunities and couldn't stop WOS from scoring. Which is what happened. They used their size to get yards and burn clock...and WOS wasn't prepared. It wouldn't have happened again...and fortunately for them it didn't matter. Because no other team they played used it to their advantage either. None of that matters. Here is what matters...this thread was absolutely ridiculous from the word go. I made an equally ridiculous, and definitely sarcastic response....and a WOS fan gets insulted. What a shocker. I know this isn't a paying gig for you...but it's still pretty embarrassing for you (SETX Director/Manager) to be trying to degrade members of the very site that you are an "admin" of. You do need to know...I literally couldn't care less. Insults mean nothing to me. Never have. I mean...come on. Every member on here has already admitted WOS is without a doubt the best team in Texas in their respective classification. And congratulated the team several times over for their accomplishments. What else do you want? But I will say that I'm truly sorry. I'm sorry that the presidential election didn't go the other way....so that it may become a crime to say something that hurts someone's feelings. They caught the second half then. Definitely the best part... Anyway. Give me some info regarding these teams if you don't mind. I know Big Sandy is hurting from the seniors they lost. Are they "down"? Is Evadale "better"? Is it a combination of the 2? I'll be honest, I haven't really been keeping up much.

I'm not saying I disagree with you. I 100% believe that. But...it's not the coach's job to investigate crimes. He's very fortunate in this case. It has already been argued by me that all the coach needs to do is provide a kid with a locker, provide a kid with a means to keep the locker locked, and then leave it up to the kid to use what has been given. I've argued this before already. If the kids are having things stolen from a LOCKED locker, then it becomes a police matter. If the police decide that cameras are needed to catch criminals then it's a little different. But I can assure you one thing...if I have a kid in that locker room then I'm not happy. A coach installs a camera and then says "but I only turned it on when no one when changing".....Yeah, that wouldn't sit well with me. This is not CSI. But...my kids are grown and gone so I don't have a dog in the fight. Beaumont, do whatever you want to do.

I have an interesting fact. WOS has never lost to The University of Alabama. I know right! At first I was like.. "surely WOS has been beaten by Bama at some point. At least during the Nick Saban era. Saban can beat anyone at least once." So I googled it....sure enough. The mighty WOS Mustangs have never lost a football game to the Crimson Tide! Trust me...I'm as surprised as all of you. Completely blown away.

Not against a law of any kind to have a camera in or around a locker room or restroom where kids change clothes? Well then...I hope they start doing that in every locker room in the country. I for one wish we could turn back time and put cameras in all of the locker rooms my kids used growing up. We certainly can't have kids stealing stuff out of lockers.

I doubt anyone from Big Sandy knew there was a football game going on. But yes...they missed one of the great ones of all time.

WOS hasn't had a competitive game all year. If they took PNG or Memorial's spot they would have at least had competitive games all the way through the year/playoffs. That's the point I made earlier. It's not that they couldn't beat any of them...it's the fact that they would have to play them all back to back to back games...They haven't even had to use their starters for an entire game a single time this year. Last year they played a good team in a higher classification and took it on the chin. The last time WOS had to play competitive games all the way through the playoffs they didn't make it out of the region. I know this isn't the same WOS team...but if you can't see the difference in every playoff game being a dog fight, and every playoff game being a cakewalk then I don't know what to tell you. It would make things different.

What will they do if the great Larry Haynes shows up, decides during 2-a-days that it won't be as glamorous as he thinks, and decides to "retire" again? Or just walk away...Hasn't that happened once or twice since the last time Hardin ran him out of town? Just curious. I think he's probably a good enough of a coach to see how tough it's going to be to climb out of an 0-10 group in Hardin. Especially knowing he can't change the schedule this year...and some of the beatings Hardin took (50-0 ish) had nothing to do with coaching.

Now see...some of you guys force me to be the jerk. It's not that I enjoy it...but someone has to be realistic. WOS. VERY good football team. No question that they are the best team in this area and more than likely the best team in all of 4A. No doubt the best team in 4A D2...but probably the entire classification. Does that mean that they would win the whole thing if classifications were still the same? Possibly. We'll never know. I even think they could give Aledo a good game. Does that mean they would make it thru the 5A playoffs to the title game? NO. It does not. WOS hasn't had to play a single game this year where they've had to keep their starters in for an entire game. Including the playoffs. It's a little bit different when every week is a dog fight. Now making this list is an enormous honor. It means that their season has not gone overlooked by national standards. And definitely, won't be forgotten. But making this list does not mean they are on the same level as 5A and 6A competition. I mean...come on.

Those kids and coaches wouldn't be at those schools if the facilities weren't top notch, have huge community backing, and high coaching salaries.

I'm surprised nobody is noticing the connection of my previous question and success. I asked what schools have coaches that have been there a decade or more. Any sport. Boys or girls. Every single response I got was a consistently competitive school in that sport. I'm not saying it's the ONLY thing that contributes to success. But it's an awful funny coincidence.

I have a theory or 2. But before I share. Name the schools in SeTX that have had the same coach for 10+ or so years. Any sport..boys or girls.

Split JV team aside.. Boys Harbor, High Island, Sabine Pass. WHY is a 4A school playing in a tournament with those schools?
