Buna is a good team, period. They are solid and steady, nothing flashy, just blue collar guys who play hard and limit mistakes. They will be right in the middle of the district title chase. As far as saying "Silsbee has not lived up to the hype" I'd have to disagree. Take a look at the schedule these guys have played, it's basically been a "Pre district state tournament". Caldwell, China Spring, Diboll, plus several good 4A teams, that's a tall order for anybody. While other teams beat up on hapless nobodies the Tigers went out and scheduled a NASTY string of opponents to prepare for district and beyond. Real baseball people know the Tigers are for real and will certainly have a say in who wins 21-3A.

I am also picking the Mustangs by 4 runs, WOS has been extremely hot with the bats, and the pitching and defense has been pretty solid. The big bats will show up tonight!

3 players out of 9 from the same school and that school isn't in your top 5? Somewhat strange don't you think?

I can agree that some of the young men named in this thread are some of the best, but just like any other sport, some fall off and some rise above the rest. To premature to tell! District games will provide the stats to back it up. Good luck to ALL players and teams.

When I first started voting, there was no early voting unless you signed a waiver saying that you would be out of town on election day. It was not "early" voting, it was "absentee" voting. 
 
Then you had to vote on election day. 
 
Now they send out mail ballots where you really don't know who sent it back, many days to vote, complaints about showing an ID, etc. 
 
I don't care who votes but some people are trying to make it easier and easier to skew the results and if you complain, you are trying to disenfranchise someone. The Democrats appear to want to make it where the less verification there is, the better.

Great point one4all. It doesn't seem to matter much about starters. Coaches seem to be able to motivate and prepare the kids to step up and fill. I think a lot of people(Dave Campbell and media) underestimated this past years team with very few staters returning. This all just reflects the type of program Coach T has in place

Not good! voluntarily giving info out to another coach from another district is kind of questionable! what kind of relationship do these two coaches have towards each other! evidently not a good one!

I started this post so maybe I can clear this up, then finally end this topic. When I first became a member to this website I took to heart alot of what people said about my son, then had to remember that people have a opinion, and leave it at that a opinion. I later apologized to that person, because he have that right to speak upon the topic that was made available. Now as far as this topic and how it came about. I am not from Nederland even tho my kids are born and raised here, but if you were from the Golden Triangle the past 20 years you know who the Nederland Bulldogs are. A very well coached and system team, no questions are arguments to follow. Now i have worked here in Nederland for 7 years, and every year this topic is talked about from the men who grew up in Nederland knowing every player. Then I listened and kinda agree on certain things, but all in all we can agree to disagree. Many thought I made this post out due to my son, but really trying to find out the truth behind the stories. My son still has another year of high school, but knows if there are no colleges calling life goes on. That football doesn't define his future,personality,and his reasons to life. However the way situations went about this weekend,the phone calls of people I never knew, it makes you wonder. Now like I said it was just a opinion topic, and  whoever feels offended or misjudged talk to me. I am man enough to apologize if wrong, but man enough to stand up when you start bringing this to my boys. It was simply a opinion ladies and gentlemen!

I honestly believe that it doesn't matter how many starter coming back Offense/ defense.....because this years team went just as far as last year's team..only to have a team of one year Variety starters..

I think all three went to 5 or 6 camps combined, and one of those was the UT camp Raelon went to after he committed in May. All three were invited to a bunch bet didn't go to many. One of our kids who was a preferred D1 walk-on got an offer without the recruiter even looking at the film, he just went on coach Mann's word. For the 9 players we signed we probably didn't even average 1.5 camps per kid. We had most of those kids get looks in 7 on 7 and the little combine type event we held on our own field. Austin led the state in rushing and Raelon is 6-5 and averaged 25 ypc, all the camps did was hurt those kids when Austin ran a slow 40 and people saw how thin Raelon was. Crosby teaches a whole class on how to make hudl videos starting with the freshman, that type of proactive stance plus coach Mann as our recruiting coordinator is why 9 kids signed.

So what you saying is that a kid should give his all for the benefit to only help the coach be successful, but the kid maybe getting a better education at best out of a scholarship is to much for coaches to try and help reward some of his players with if he can. Hummmm

Without anyone on the team named Hryorchuk (sp?), I don't think we have a chance. :D
 
The region also includes LaMarque, Coldspring, Gilmer, and Tatum. WO-S definitely has a shot, but keep an eye on those teams, as well.

I think everyone in the district will be tough especially WOS. Silsbee will be solid as will BC and Buna.. I dont know much about what OF has coming back but they have been good in the past and Coach Trawhon is a competitor. HF usually has a few good kids as do we so my honest opinion is anyone can win on any given night. Granted Silsbee is all about consistancy so you have to be on your game and hope they have an off night...

Dont count out the Mustangs this year! they might surprise some people.

Districts 3 and 20 in 4A only having 4 teams for basketball!!!  0 - 30 would get you in the playoffs!!! 20-4A is Jaspers district.
