NBA Draft/Offseason 2016
TxHoops replied to Mr. Buddy Garrity's topic in Professional Sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, Etc
We gotta make a change from Ainge, BG. That was awful. And Porzingas just trashed this draft. Heard only 5 Euro lotto picks since 1989 have made an all star game. Now everyone is taking flyers again. 90 percent end up being busts. -
Look forward to welcoming these two to the 40 acres. I am sure they will look back and be relieved they didn't spend their college years in Waco anyway. Hook 'em boys!
-
Word is they will be adding SEC Champions to their 2016 list of accomplishments. Aggy gave them the name of its banner guy.
-
6'10 and athletic? Not even close. There is a reason kids with that kind of height get away with so much more than the short guys. Can't coach height.

Also, this year may be the election that proves no third party will be a viable option in our lifetimes. I have said before I identify with many of the Libertarian Party's stances. And I must say their VP candidate has been one of my favorite Republicans for over a couple of decades.
-
I never thought the GOP would be the mess it is now. Trump is approaching a 70 percent disapproval rating in some polls. Many politicos are predicting single women again being the key demographic. If that plays out, Trump's candidacy will make the Titanic look like a Sunday afternoon sail...

We forget aggy's longstanding pride in the SEC...oh wait! Was 2011 the year the Big XII upgraded by adding TCU to replace little sister?
-
Question: if you remove Alabama from the equation, is the SEC more overrated in football or baseball? That's a tough one. At least in basketball everyone knows they aren't very good with the exception of UK.

Silsbee Summer League & League Tourney
TxHoops replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
They do indeed. They've been playing together a long time. And summer/fall leagues are pretty meaningless. Take it from me guys. As I said last season, I'm going to just start taking mamba's word on the state of ozen basketball. Tired of eating crow... -
Best conference in baseball? #snicker Of course, most have known the Big XII is daddy in baseball. If only we didn't have to play each other, we would be undefeated...
-
Or the Revisionist History Channel?
-
It is quite nice having championships after the invention of the motion picture...
-
I think Mack is in Bristol still lobbying the "world wide leader in sports" to start an aggy channel for little brother. Word is they have referred him to the Comedy Central network...
-
I thought that as well. But green is even more revered in the swamps than purple and gold...

To be fair, it's probably the right result given that the charges were in Louisiana. Anyone with a little dough who hires the right attorney can make such charges go away in Louisiana.

Houston Wheatley & Houston Jack Yates

Couldn't agree more. Saw a bunch of youngsters saying best series ever and I had to chuckle.
-
I believe GS went the last 4:41 without scoring...
-
What happened? Should be 2-0 instead of 1-0?
-
They must be really good if you're predicting a win against Coastal Carolina University of the Southeast, Sisters of the Poor Campus. You know, the team that handed your Tigers their behinds in a sweep in Dumpsville?

Houston Wheatley & Houston Jack Yates

Not sure at this point. I am sure he has plenty of interest. Scholarships are won, for the most part, in the spring and summer. Teams want to see how players can compete against the best is the best. He has been wise to recuperate this offseason and not rush himself. I am sure he will play for a sneaker team next year and plenty of offers will come. -
It's not hard to "connect the dots" (as our friend Smitty liked to say). The South left the Democratic Party when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed. It didn't happen overnight but in political time, pretty close. Southern Democrats began switching parties, like the overtly racist Strom Thurmond. Gun control and gays have replaced "Negroes" but the same tunes are being played. Although I must say Trump has revived a segment that has been relatively silent in recent years. He has trouble holding his tongue and says some incredibly dumb things, and it is harder to control his message in this day of instant social media. But at least, to this point, he hasn't worn his hood in public...

They are guaranteed to have at least one less win than the Big XII after tomorrow though...

You're too sharp
