Is one year not enough to qualify for a stretch? 😂 I was thinking it was 2-3 years but I’m old and relying on a subpar memory. Regardless, as I’ve said many times, SETX basketball is better when Kountze is in top form so I’m glad the Lions “are back.”

Because this is the first season in over a decade they would be favored (imo anyway). More importantly, regardless of who would be a small favorite, it is also (other than arguably last year’s teams) where the game would be remotely competitive. Kountze was god awful for a stretch in there. Fortunately for the Lions, butt cheeks Kountze is gone and juggernaut Kountze is back. Ring huntin’ Lions even.

No he hasn’t. And the freshman award was probably based on you could tell he was the most talented kid, even then. I was in the Perrault camp too because he was the best player on the best team and giving it to someone on a team that finishes in the bottom half of district seemed a little crazy. In hindsight, I’m kind of glad they did because Sells was definitely deserving to be in the conversation and 4 MVPs is just about unheard of. And from everything I hear, couldn’t happen to a better kid.

No doubt. With all due respect to Nathan Toon’s short stay, he’s the best I’ve seen here in the past 25 or so years.

Gotta be frustrating for all involved. They were on such an upward trajectory on then it’s like the wheels fell off. From the box scores, doesn’t look like it’s injury related. Hopefully they can get it figured out and start rolling again. First 4 games, it looked like the Cards were a clear #2 in the conference. Unfortunately, the next one isn’t easier in Lake Charles on Saturday. But who knows, maybe they are one of those teams that plays up or down to the competition and they’ve certainly been road warriors this season.

McNeese actually has a high mid roster (comparable to a group of 5), with a comparable “pay roll.” A few of its starters actually could be playing power 5 and quite effectively. But obviously they are a huge exception to the rule in this league.

BH kid kicked his leg out and initiated contact, if any. Saw this called an offensive foul in a college game this past weekend. Personally, I’d like to see more of that. Here my best guess is there was little if any contact because the point of contact would have been in a very “sensitive” area and would have garnered a reaction from the defender. Therefore, a no call along with a flop warning seems most appropriate. But when the shooter does initiate contact from kicking one of his legs out in an attempt to draw a foul, I wish an offensive foul was called more. It would go a long way to eliminating this James Harden mimicry that is polluting the game.

I saw it late too. Glad you didn’t make a wasted trip either. That’s a haul to show up at a dark gym!

When I saw the schedule, immediately thought, “ouch.” Needed a Silsbee, United, Westbrook, West Brook, BH-type to play Marion.

They made the right hire at AD. O’Malley hasn’t made a bad hire yet imo. Hopefully we keep him and President Taylor for many years. Both are the best we’ve had at their jobs in a long while.
