  1. If they had 17 fouls at half, doesn’t sound like they were “giving up” anything…
  2. When you charge $500k to $1M for a retainer and charge $750 to $1000 per hour (very educated guesses), the money won’t last a decade. It’s also harder to withdraw from a case when you have to respond to Johnny Stevens, “your honor, I was only paid X to represent Mr Walker and I’ve already billed him in excess of that.” And I’ve not nothing against DeGuerin, he’s a helluva lawyer and that’s his value in the market. But you’re also never getting released from representing him through trial. His continued representation is something else and I’m sure it’s him choosing to see this through.
  3. That may actually be correct. But no doubt he was paid a small fortune before “the money ran out.” By that, I don’t mean I don’t believe you or your memory but more I don’t doubt what DeGuerin is telling the court about being “pro bono” now. But I would love to be “pro bono” after collecting fees that buy homes on Thomas Road. Whether the money ran out is obviously a whole ‘nother story and I am more than skeptical about that.
  4. Tricky question but most likely Dick would never disclose claiming atty-client privilege.
  5. It’s all a different recruiting landscape. Lamar has very little NIL money so they are going to have to find diamond in the rough types. Hamilton is their big and he’s one of their best players. Holyfield is also very long and is arguably their best player (but he prefers playing the perimeter). Guys like Shumate of McNeese (the best big in the conference) is only there because they can afford to pay him high mid major money.
  6. Lamar had a flat one last night in SA vs Incarnate Word. Good news is SELA also lost, at home vs Northwestern, to leave the Cards a game clear alone in second. Bad news is if they had one, it would have give them a one game cushion which would have allowed them to split the final two at home vs McNeese and Nicholls and still have the byes all the way into the semis at the conference tournament.
  7. I can’t imagine what he’s paying Dick DeGuerin to come down here for hearings about the $2500 he’s paid over several years but I can’t imagine it’s not more than $2500 a pop. In fact, with appeals, etc, I would be willing to bet the total sum was close to, if not exceeds the amount of restitution. There aren’t many criminal defense lawyers in the COUNTRY more expensive than DeGuerin.
  8. 😂 and I never seemed to be on the good side of one of those…
  9. Price is Right rules??
  10. Great post. I think most understand what they have with Daspit. He’s a rising star in the profession and they are fortunate to have him. They have some really good kids and some coming up as well from what I hear. Future is bright for the Cardinals. And to compliment the current coach isn’t a slam on the previous one. Robertson did a very nice job with the program while he was there, and I don’t know him but I hear he’s a good guy as well.
  11. I don’t believe that’s ever been changed. If the jury had given Walker more than a ten sentence, he would have been ineligible under 42A.055 of the CCP.
  12. Just watched the 4th quarter on KOGT. Don’t watch a lot of girls HS basketball but always said that if you played a drinking game where you took a shot any time one of the girls hit the floor or there was a tie ball, you would die of alcohol poisoning. After watching tonight, that appears to hold true even in a regional finals game…
  13. Apparently 11 bids for Big East in 2011 (definitely had to look it up) [Hidden Content]
  14. That’s bananas. But if you look at their OOC stuff, also easily justified.
  15. The SEC this year is the deepest hoops conference I can ever remember. They are way stronger in basketball than they’ve been in football, even in their own minds. In fact, of the big 3 sports, amazing to think football is easily the weakest right now.
  16. Good pull. I had forgotten about that one. What an athlete that guy was
  17. Couldn’t be more than 10 if it was probated, right?
  18. Eh, depends on your grasp of the word “most.” You don’t play with Jack Yates with 3 or 4 guys and not get your doors blown off. Fact is, he did a very, very good job in his first year as a head coach. Going to be a really good one for years to come and I couldn’t be less surprised.
  19. Lions had to throw it in reverse to “only” win by 44 😂
  20. Daspit has done a helluva job with this program. Not surprised Smalley found a really good, young coach to elevate that program. He’s done it his whole career.
  21. Same. I never count a Sutherland team out but Hitchcock’s Jimmy and Joes are just significantly better this year. Pulling for the Bucs but would set the line at Bulldogs -14.
  22. After SELA’s loss to McNeese, Lamar alone in 2nd. Speaking of SELA, former Card and Shelbyville Dragon Jay Buckley was just named conference player of the week for the second week in a row. And followed that up with 25 points and 7 assists against McNeese last night.
  23. Brooks gets career win #100
  24. There’s probably no bigger fan of your trolling on this site than me. But this is 2.7/10.
