  1. It takes a special type of coach for this job. Someone who knows how the program operates and can keep the traditions alive. It has to be someone who has been involved with the program that won’t come in and try to change the system that has worked for many many of years. I would like to see this program keep doing what it has been doing and keep everything the same because it works and it works very well.

Having lived in this area all my life, and seeing (and hearing Cherokee more than I want) PNG games and fans, it’s hard to believe the stands weren’t full.  Honestly, other than playoff games I attended in the Dome, I’ve never seen a PNG game where the stands weren’t packed.  They may still hold the record with Plano (if memory is right) for attendance.  Holy Moly, things are changing.

A lot of people stayed home or went to see the Astros play. But, attendance is declining from the years past. A lot of people, after they graduate are moving away for better paying jobs then what they can here. Therefore we are getting people moving in either being transferred for their job or coming down here for construction work. Those people weren’t born and raised in the traditions of PNG so their kids don’t understand it. Therefore they don’t take interest in all of it. I was born and raised here and my family has had season tickets for over 45 years. These move ins don’t understand it used to be impossible to get season tickets unless they were passed down in families or someone was giving up their tickets because they either moved or passed away. Hate to say it but things aren’t changing for the good.

  3. This was not a great game by either team. Both teams looked as young as they are. I wish people would quit trying to sugar coat this team. They are young and are going through growing pains. It’s not pretty. I think these kids will get better but they have to learn to play as a team and with more enthusiasm before they do get better. There is no excitement on this team as in the past. Teams in the past when they did something good would be going crazy. Chest bumps, shoulder bumps even some moves they made up. Hell they even had the coaches involved. These kids just go through the motions. They need more pep in their step if they want to improve.

In my day if we played we the lack of energy or intensity PNG showed last night we’d be in practice today running air raid drills!!

I graduated from PNG and my son just graduated from PNG. The difference in the way athletes from there play from my time to now is way different. We played with heart and pride and didn’t walk anywhere or we had extra gassers after practice. The way kids play now is like they don’t care. They just play football because that’s what you are supposed to do. They have no pride and majority of them are spoiled rich kids who think their sh_t don’t stink and it’s the coaches privilege he’s playing. The traditions at PNG may be the same. But the Pride of playing for the INDIANS is gone.

We would have to see about little brother Walker, he's only head coached four games running the slot-t after his big brother died in November? Would probably be a couple more issues with a hire like that too. One, BH probably thinks they're above running an offense like that. Two, LH is all in on all sports and I'm not sure BH's community is willing to replicate their work ethic? Big difference coming from a Vidor-like community to BH.

You are right about Liberty Hill. I had a nephew play football for them a couple of years ago, and a niece and nephew play soccer for them. The work ethic the have not many schools around here can duplicate. They take pride not only in sports but academics as well. BH is growing extremely fast and that can cause a school district a lot of headaches. But with the property taxes that BH has, and they keep rising, middle income families, where most of your athletes come from, can’t afford to move there so they have to take what they can get. Liberty Hill does not have that issue.

Well, Liberty Hill averaged 57ppg this year, including dogging out some 6As, and was one point away from the title game running the .  .  . (clears throat) .  .  . slot-T. Buda Hays made the semis against Katy running it this year and SA Wagner was in the 5A-D1 semis against Shadow Creek running it in 2019. So there's precedent for running it with success in the higher classifications. BH definitely has better overall athletes than LH does.

No disrespect to Walker at Liberty Hill but Jerry Vance is the coach who turned LH into the program it is now. Walker has done a great job of maintaining it.....FYI Jerry Vance was in the hat when PNG hired Fairclothe.

  7. Coach Carter is a great man. I am very glad my son had the privilege to play for him. Those that talk bad about the man don’t truly know him. He is all about the kids he is coaching. He challenges them constantly makes them work, something some of these kids don’t know how. If you want it he will he will reward you. If you go half a__ and don’t put in the work and expect to play just because of who you are. Well, less just say you will need a pad for your butt because you will have a lot of pine time.
