That could happen. Feel very sorry for Coldspring. I also stated this will be late to put a good staff or work with the existing staff. Again the real people this might hurt is the kids, especially the seniors. Multiple coaches over the last couple of years is not good for the program.

So why is select baseball ok?

This is another consequence of what happens when the UIL doubles the number of teams in the playoffs...I still believe it should be limited to the top two (at most) in each district...I know it provides a lot of schools the chance to make the playoffs but IMO it waters down the achievement of those teams who challenge to be district champions...It's all about the $$ now....
 
 
 
 
 

Huffman, Robinson.  Please weigh in here.  You have played both teams. 
It is so hard to judge teams from totally different areas.  Frankly I was surprised to learn that Salado is in Region III.  Comparing won-loss records against totally different teams is rather meaningless.  For example in 2007 when Jasper made it to the state tournament, they had the worst record of the four teams.  Short version.  Jasper won both State games scoring 25 total runs, stealing about 20 bases, and setting a number of state tourny records in the process.  

Texan Drive Stadium is awesome.  Lufkin played Westfield there last year in the playoffs

MONEY is one of the main reason and from the UIL standpoint, the only reason that matters. More games, more money for their pockets. The days of only the top two teams making the playoffs and one champion in all the divisions are gone and will not be coming back any time soon if ever. As long as the money is flowing in, the UIL will keep it that way. IMO

For those that cannot make it, it is worth the money for all the games. The travel expense, hotel, food, and tickets, make up the difference. The experience of going is great but for those who cannot, second place is ok by me.

Whom ever is responsible for this should get up in front of the team and take ownership of this issue. The team suffers the most and the teacher or admin still has a job and just goes on like another day. Feel very sorry for the students, parents, and everyone who worked hard to see an issue that should not have happened take away from a season.

Kennedale play Carthage for state, their only loss all year, again show how good WOS can play on game day. Proud of WOS for making 4 straight state finals.
