  1. now that's a little more like what i was expecting... sweet
  2. i really didn't think the brook would have a problem in this one... i hope they can squeak it out and regroup for next week.
  3. Jasper came to play! Keep it up!
  4. Brook needs to pick it up!!!
  5. sounds like ya'll need to start talking to the AD. Ya'll would have to find enough girls to start a team as well.
  6. that's an impressive comeback! Keep it up girls!
  7. ok, thanks for the info!
  8. I don't doubt that he cheated, and i don't doubt that he lied. The problem that i have is that someone might go to jail for lying about cheating in A GAME! Who cares? Honestly. If this can be proven, then i guess it would be alright to ban him from baseball (even though a huge portion of the players were doing the same thing), but for this to lead to trying to put him in jail for a couple of decades seems absurd. And as for his record being tainted, that's not that big of a deal to me either. I'm sure many of his HR's came off of pitchers that were juicing, and there's no way that he's been on anything for the past few years. He's still been hitting homers in a pitcher-friendly park, even though he's almost 90 and he's had injury trouble. Now I'm not really trying to defend the guy. He's a jerk, he's a cheater, he's a liar. I think the thing that really bothers me is that he's being burned at the stake for this. He's not a terrorist, or a murderer, or a rapist. He simply cheated in a game, and he did it in a time where it was basically expected of the players to do so.
  9. they're still just missing that one piece of the puzzle. they're to the point that they can play with anyone, but they need one more big name to join the elite.
  10. Do you think orangefield would get enough to field a team? I'm not sure, just asking. I know that a lot of the smaller schools that aren't from soccer areas struggle to keep a team together. I wish there was a 3A playoff system. Because there is not, there can't be 3A districts... Hopefully the smaller schools will continue to start teams. Maybe eventually there will be enough 3A (and maybe 2A) teams to make a smaller soccer classification. When i played for HJ from 98-01, we had some fairly decent teams that would've done well in a 3A playoff system (instead of getting our butts handed to us by PNG or Nederland in the first round every year). If you scroll down on the topics, there is something about this in previous threads. I believe it is mentioned in a thread about UIL rule changes. You can get some concrete numbers about 4A and 3A soccer programs. It would be nice to see OF get a soccer team, but how many actual soccer players go there? The thing about soccer is that it's not nearly as prominent in the smaller areas of texas, and many of these areas don't have leagues. That means for the kids to play, they have to travel long distances, and many parents don't want to do that. If the schools in these areas form soccer programs, they generally will have a bunch of guys that have never really played before. Unlike football or basketball, size and speed is not really much of an equalizer. If you put 11 short fat guys who have been playing soccer for 15 years on the field against 11 great athletes who have never played before, the fat guys will just pass the ball around and have the other team running in circles. These smaller schools who will not have skilled players generally get killed when they form, and there usually aren't a lot of people trying to get a team together anyway. Because of this, many smaller schools don't have much incentive to start a program.
  11. heck no it wouldn't! if you want to express yourself, you have to say piss. i know it wasn't the result ya'll were looking for, but congrats on staying undefeated on the year.
  12. So what's the story here? Is BC good? Is Lumberton bad? Is L-town missing any key players that are still in football? I'm trying to get caught up with HS basketball, but people don't talk about it on here like they do football, so if you're not involved with a particular program, it's hard to find out much about it...
  13. I know he's a great player from all that i've heard about him, but i haven't gotten to see him play. if brown + a big man= a national championship, you're saying he's going to be one of the best college players in the country. is he really that good? i'm not trying to hate, i haven't seen him play.
  14. I don't think dayton will roll like they have been, but i think they'll win comfortably. Dayton 37 Texas City 21
  15. I kinda think dayton will advance as well. PNG has a shot, but they're going to probably have to play their best defense all year. I'm pulling for lumberton, but i have a feeling lumberton is going to get la marque, and that's gonna be all she wrote. This is not disrespect, i wouldn't pick anyone to beat them from 22-4A at this point (although the way dayton is playing right now, they'd have a shot at making it interesting). Good luck guys, i hope everyone can advance!
  16. Our boys from 22-4A made easy work of crosby, smiley, and galena park... how many teams will be left from 22-4A after the next round? Here are the matchups... PNG vs. Lamar Consolidated (defeated Dickinson 39-14) Dayton vs. Texas City (defeated Bay City 28-16) Lumberton vs. La Marque/El Campo So who moves on?
  17. yup, 22-4a put a hurtin' on them... now the question is who will be left after next week.
  18. hell of a finish to the game!
  19. Congrats lumberton! more history in the making... now you get a real test next week.
  20. Wow... png really turned it on in the second half!
  21. HD is giving them a hell of a game!
  22. I don't know anything about CC... was this expected?
  23. Dayton is playing amazing football right now!
