1.
Yeah I am still taking Cleveland all the way past Hardin-Jefferson in 2010!!! You HJ folks live in yesteryear it appears!
time for y'all to live in "nexteryear"
2. what a game for the hawks!  they beat Cleveland in every aspect of the game (except cheap shots).  Turner was his usual self, creating chaos on defense, and scoring a wide array of off-balance layups.  Gus played fantastic.  if he had more than 1 or 2 turnovers tonight, i'd be shocked.  So much for him not being able to handle the cleveland guards.  he ran circles around them.  Sutherland got hot in the 2nd quarter, and hit 5 threes in a row over a span of about 10-12 hawks possessions.  he carried the team in the 2nd quarter, and was the main reason they had a comfortable margin at the half.  Ricossa didn't show up much on the score sheet, but he had three FANTASTIC assists early in the 1st quarter to keep HJ in it early on, and did well on the defensive end all night.  Prudhomme came in and was a game changer, scoring a bunch, making some key plays on defense and cleaning up the boards.  Will Anderson also had a few key buckets and rebounds.  Venable was his usual workhorse self.  I can't think of a single hawk player that stepped on the court that had anything less than a solid game.  From the end of the 1st quarter to the end of the 2nd, HJ went on a stretch where they were 7 of 8 from deep.  It's tough to compete when every layup you make is answered by a trey on the other end.  In the 3rd quarter, it looked like one ref in particular was trying to keep Cleveland in it.  Blatant fouls where HJ players were thrown to the floor in front of him went uncalled, but he did manage to call three shooting fouls in a row on the hawks while out of position beyond the 3 point arc, while the referee that was 6 feet away from the play under the basket didn't see cause to blow his whistle.  I was impressed with the way that the hawks overcame the adversity and blew the game open in the 4th.  it's also worth noting that, while they didn't shoot a great percentage from the line, the hawks made something like their first 7 or 8 in a row from the line in the 4th when it came to crunch time, which turned a small lead into an insurmountable one.  Great win for the hawks.  it's funny how, with this being a "down year" for them, they've "upset" both Navasota and Cleveland (both of which were supposedly much better this year than last), and they've done it by more convincing margins than they were able to do last year.  Keep it going, hawks!  Let's take this "rebuilding year" a few more games and head on back to austin!!!
3. they needed this one.  glad to see they bounced back.
4. they're still in the tourney... a couple of wins in the conference tourney and they'll be a 6 or 7 seed probably.  they have too many good wins to kepe them out, and their only bad loss is to OU, who isn't really that bad of a team.
5. i think Kountze comes out and shocks them early, and they never recover.  Kountze by 12, 74-62.
6. i stand corrected.  Central beat Ozen 2-0.  Thanks, newcastle.
7.
4 hours until broadcast time!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
see you guys there!
8.
Here they are Gabe. I did not put out an area or quarterfinal pickem due to [s]time constraints[/s] the fact that i'm tied for first.
9. this might be the biggest game in the state tonight, and it's being played in a jr. high gym?  i hope it's a nice jr. high!
10. i'm going to assume ozen won, or this kid would've been back on here by now.
11.
IMO in that district.. 3A - HJ has the best defense - given up way fewer goals than Silsbee or Jasper 4A - Probly Lumberton - Given up very few goals at all I dont know a lot about the other district, but if i had to make a guess it'd be.. 3A - HF 4A - Nederland
HJ definitely does a good job of keeping it close against teams that are blowing everyone else out.
12. cool.  and it looks like i will in fact be in attendance tomorrow night.
13. 14. i hope to make the game, but i don't know about driving that far on a school night :)
15. i like it better than the pinstripes...
16. From ESPN: COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Texas guard J'Covan Brown strained his neck late in Saturday's game against Texas A&M (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today, No. 22 AP). He was transported to a hospital in College Station, where he was evaluated and released. He will have another evaluation by the Longhorns' medical staff Sunday, and the team said he is listed as day-to-day. He was conscious as he was wheeled out of the arena on a stretcher about 20 minutes after the game. Texas coach Rick Barnes said he hit the back of his head as he crashed to the court. Texas A&M led 72-58 when Brown collided with A&M's B.J. Holmes as he went to the basket. Both players were injured. Holmes was carried off with an apparent ankle injury. Medical personnel came on the court for Brown, and he was strapped to the board with his neck stabilized and taken off the court.
17.
UTEP shows up in the ESPN USA Today College poll at # 25, #24 in both the CBS Sports and Parrish polls, and just 1 shy of the Top 25 in the AP poll, sitting at #26 with 86 points.
sweet!
18. there were three major upsets today, and a two minor ones: #1 KU loses to unranked Okie St. #2 UK loses to #17 Tenn #11 BYU loses to #12 UNM #13 Georgetown loses to unranked ND #21 UT loses to #23 A&M and several close games as well: #7 WVU only beats Cincy by 6 #15 Gonzaga only beats San Fran by 6 #17 Pitt only beats Saint John's by 7 #22 Northern Illinois only beats Ill. St by 6
19. Brown being taken off the court on a stretcher with a neck brace.  this doesn't look good.
20. J Brown down late, as well as BJ Holmes for the ags.  Looks like Brown hit his head pretty hard.
21. Ags up 12, late.  They've been the better team today, and deserve this win.  I thought the horns were decent on both ends, but the ags were better on both ends.
22.
J'Covan is going to have to win this one.
i'd like to see james win it, and j'covan help.
