  1. Hamshire-Fannett did what they were supposed to until they didn't. They won an outright district championship for the first time since 94 I think, and convincingly thumped WOS, Silsbee, and Jasper to do it. Unfortunately, they lost a game they should've won in the 2nd round due to many factors coming together at exactly the wrong time. So that said, winning the district title was expected, but so was making it to the regional final out of this region and their side of the bracket. Had they gotten there, I'd argue they were close to even money against WLV, who's now in the state final. This was our chance, though. It's been close to 50 years since HF had this much talent on one team, and they got a favorable road to boot and weren't able to capitalize. There's a lot of talent coming up, but it's going to be tough replacing basically all of their best defensive players for a second straight year, along with the district MVP, one of the best qbs in the state, and a D1 offensive lineman.
  2. not sure I know either of these two, but they have a heck of a job in front of them. that said, dropping down to 5A should help a little.
  3. yeah, lots of good teams in the area. although Tenaha has been pretty bipolar that last 7-8 years, and Timpson wasn't anything until they became the fighting Busseys. Kinda surprised he didn't end up at carthage, tbh.
  4. Carthage is the rare example of a coach who has to do literally nothing to get talent to come to him. That said, if your kid is a good football player and you live fairly close to carthage, wouldn't it make sense to move into the district and commute to your job? What's wild is that Beckville is only 10 min away from carthage, and Joaquin is less than 30 away. Both have put out good football teams recently. maybe they get the guys who'd normally start for a team like carthage if it wasn't pulling in studs from all over the place?
  5. Jefferson has a very good group of athletes going through right now. Highly ranked in football, and should have a good season in basketball as well. I've enjoyed following them the last few years since I spend a lot of my winter up that way at the deer lease about 10 miles outside of town.
  6. Man, I bombed this week. First bad week since about week 5 of the regular season came at a bad time.
  7. Wish y’all were
  8. Bad PI for SC in the endzone on 3rd down. That’s a pretty low percentage throw, turn around and try and make a play on the ball
  9. The only reason Gunter isn’t playing for their 48th straight win and third straight undefeated season next week is because they had last year’s 4A-D1 state champion and this year’s probable 4A-D1 state champion on their schedule.
  10. I’ll say Gunter 35, WVille 14. But will absolutely be pulling for the upset.
  11. Be curious to see how Huffman does after losing the only coach that program has ever known. McDermand wasn't much of a player in high school, but he turned into a heck of a coach.
  12. 35-4 second quarter is rough.
  13. That could be fun
  14. Malakoff scores 21 in the 4th to win 27-19
  15. Woodville managed to burn about 11 seconds off on those two kneels. They’re gonna have to punt and give Tidehaven about 10 seconds left
  16. 35-8, late 4th. Hell of a season from Joaquin
  17. Fortunate that worked out. Great play call, but the pass was behind him and he made a really nice catch before turning it up field and scoring
  18. Another false start 🤦🏻‍♂️
  19. Eating up yards and clock
  20. Malakoff with a score, then a pick-6, and a stop. Now up 20-19 with the ball
  21. Another great punt return from the freshman gives it to woodville around midfield
  22. Woodville with a big stop!
