  1. No scouring of the state going on in Veedor ,Tejas. They would have posted the job somewhere other than the district website, which they only did because they had to. It's a buddy hire. I'd love to be wrong .
  2. Today is the last day that VISD will be accepting applications for AD/ Head Football coach 🤔 . We never had a chance ! [Hidden Content]
  3. Both use the same playbook but name the play series differently. Liberty Hill uses different plays from their playbook as their base (main) plays and the play calling is more methodical. Vidor uses the same pitch plays over and over again as their main plays and the play calling has no rhyme or reason. The more slow paced methodical approach with audibles seemed better to me. I don't like it as a hurry up offense , it seems to take away from the offense
  4. Comparing Sabine Pass athletes to KC Chiefs athletes. 🤔
  5. Neece use to live in Vidor and I would love to have him as a coach but.................Greg would clean house and bring his own coaches with him and they wont have that in Vidor. Vidors already got their guy though, he's been promised the job for a few years now
  6. Vidor paid Mathews pretty well if I remember correctly. I could be wrong
  7. He's another member of the SUB CLUB He had some excellent players for 2 years in Lumberton. His play calling was horrendous in Vidor and he dismantled the offense .
  8. Slot T teams pass the ball 2 percent of the time . Spread teams run a pretty balanced attack , about a 50/50 run/pass. No comparison. If they could just do a straight drop back or some more quick passes when its open that would be nice. Dont always have the time for 3 fakes , then for the qb to turn his back to the line and run backwards then turn around to find the receiver. They are usually covered by then
  9. It has to be the version of the slot-t that we used to run. Not the version we've been running since DuBois left. The passes cant be all play action passes though
  10. If the Slot-T just absolutely has to be the offense that Vidor runs then there is none better that DuBois. Yes I do wish they would have weighed all options and that they are more than capable of running a different style offense. It just gets so damn boring watching the Slot-T year after year but if it's going to have to be the offense then Dwayne is the man. Crueder or the current OC would be a disaster
  11. Congrats !! The future of Jasper football is looking bright with the Crumedy hire. I'm extremely happy for the Jasper folks
  12. Maybe sometimes schools with bad traditions settle for losing coaches or schools settle for losing coaches and that starts bad traditions. Like Vidor
  13. DuBois knows more about football and is a better coach. Mathews is more of a politician and knows how to make the right people happy.
  14. LCMs coach is a high calibre coach. They weren't going to get better even if they posted it and they knew it. Vidor didn't post out of fear that a good coach may apply
  15. They still should of had the job posted somewhere other than just the VISD website
  16. Unless they don't open the job and hire the very best available applicant. Then more should be said
  17. He graduated From Bridge City High School in 1986. Assuming he graduated at 17 yrs old he would be around 54 yrs old
  18. This was Vidors chance to turn the corner but instead they chose to think inside the box. You can think outside the box or be stuck in the box. Mathews had to remain in control of the programs future even though he is leaving and hand the job over to his buddies. Politics has always been his strong suit , thats how he kept his job for 24 years with a losing record. I mean to not even post the job on the THSCA.com to attract more outsiders. Who knows, might of got some good candidates. His stranglehold on the program will remain tight for years after hes gone.
  19. Heck no. Mathews would never hire a great coach , it would kill his legacy of mediocrity . Plus a good coach would want to bring in their own staff and that would break up the lumberton/vidor coaching familia (AKA the sub 500 club). Which would mean more workload for Vidor Supt. Jay Kilgo
  20. Only because they don't know how to coach anything else. If they would have invested the same amount of time they invested into the slot-t into any other offense they could've had success in that offense as well . If you consider sub 500 successful. The slot-t will only develop slot-t type athletes because it is designed for non athletes , the drills and every within the system is non athletic.
