Not really sure where to put this, but today is National Signing Day. Exciting day for a lot of young people. Congrats to all the young men & women on being able to continue their education & sports careers! Post ‘em when you get ‘em.

No worries here. No unhinging either. I KNOW I have a lot better education than Barber’s Hill can provide. I also know I’m smarter because—knowing how more than a few felt—I wouldn’t have asked an irrelevant question in a manner that could be misconstrued. 😉 That said, I did like Simper’s interview, and noted as much as soon as I watched it.

As the CEO of the ISD, he can. It just violates his ethics clause on multiple levels. As you say, it’s up to the Board to evaluate him. It’s up to the voters to evaluate the Board. I believe he’s in his 18th year. This means he has around 1-1/2 years left on his contract. (Max allowable by Texas is a 5 year term length at a time.) He can be renewed another 5 or less, be terminated in around 1.5 with no consequences, or terminated early ‘for cause’ which would probably include a messy buyout.

You have people from Deer Park because Shell sold their ownership portion of the Deer Park Refinery to Pemex. Pemex now totally owns the facility. Deer Park is now becoming more like La Porte while Barber’s Hill is still like Deer Park was… Many long-time DP people aren’t happy about the change.

Not a BH hater. Just not a fan of the Super’s past actions. Has nothing to do with anyone else. If you were to read my postings, you would see that clearly. There are no negative posts against BHISD, or BH community or kids in general. Do I think the Super is/has brought negative press to BHISD, and question how conduct rules in his contract haven’t been violated multiple times? Big fat ‘YES.’

La Porte starters returning: 1 All GHA 2nd Team RB (Offers from Tennessee, Nebraska, & Texas Tech so far as a Freshman) 2 1st Team All District OL 1 1st Team All District LB 1 1st Team All District DB 1 1st Team All District TE 1 1st Team All District NG 2 2nd Team All District LB/DE 2 2nd Team All District OL 1 2nd Team All District RB Starting QB (Honorable Mention), WR (Honorable Mention), 2 DB/LB These are the players that were recognized. Others received significant playing time due to injuries/lopsided games. While they'll miss the 3-headed rushing monster, they'll still have 2, and maybe will incorporate the TE & WR on above list a little more to get to more of a 70-30 mix. That would be good enough of a mix for me within the LP system. Might even make them more dangerous. I may have underestimated their chances to go just as far or farther next year. Barring injuries of course. Gonna' need to keep that new stadium record blemish free! The Border War Rivalry for the first game in it is going to be rockin’!!!

Ha! We used to leave dead deer on the entrances to Deer Park school buildings, burnt LP into their football field on the 50, and left birdseed all over the visitors side of Bulldog stadium where the seagulls from the Bay would shit all over their side before the game. They’d leave dead dogs on our steps. Fights, yes. But, never one like that I’m aware of. Rivalry started in ‘46.

One throng I forgot to mention… You know it’s a rivalry when you move into a new town, and within the first day or two, someone asks if you have kids playing and are you going to the game. Then, they proceed to give you the history, and their part in it. All this is done before they tell you where the Post Office is…

When you & your co-workers spend 40+ hours a week working with each other, but on a certain Friday night, all bets are actually ‘ON’ from the game week wagers, and the loser has to listen to the crap for a year. Of course, when the game history is 75 years old or more, it’s pretty much grown into classic status—especially if the wins are fairly close. I find the best rivalries are between communities/towns. Not those between multi-school districts.

Could be the start of the slow draining of the Poole…

Y’all will be fine. I think he’ll surprise you. BH Super did you a big favor with the candidates that were available. Never beat La Porte. But, he always had them ready to play. Congrats to Lufkin & Abseck!

Abseck was just announced as AD/HC @ Lufkin. Some of y’all (BG) should listen to your elders. HA!

Sean Simon—La Porte Freshman RB—is the only Freshman, and one of the few 5A or below players, listed on 1st or 2nd Team. He only played 10 games as he started the season on the Freshman squad. He wound up 177/1602/21 TD’s for a 9.1 avg. while splitting carries with Barnes and Sandolph. Congrats young man, and congrats to all those recognized! [Hidden Content]

I think @Separation Scientist had this one pegged pretty even-keeled for the most part. He seemed to know Abseck had been putting the Eagles in the best chance to win each game with the players/talent BH had available. He defended Abseck when I didn't see others doing the same. Yes, he got defensive sometimes. But, that's to be expected with all the ribbing. I think there are gonna' be a lot of Eagle fans saying 'what the heck!' when Abseck comes rolling into Eagle Stadium with Lufkin & blows the doors off the Eaglets. That being said, wish BH & their new coach best of luck...unless you're playing La Porte. Then, I think you should just look forward to the next game.😁

Only thing left now is for Abseck to have a ‘Homecoming’ to The Hill on 9/26/2025. Should know by Thursday.
