I'm not gonna lie... I think 10-4A D1 is the most exciting district in the area.
Should be a very interesting fall. I'm sure my son is already getting tired of me telling him to make sure the guys are working hard in off-season. Gotta make sure my Birds are ready.

Agreed, referring more to the news. Also an issue not discussed thus far is, What about the Freshman, JV games during the week?
-
All that 6a talk and no mention of 10 4a-d1. Any of these planning on playing on a neutral site? The LCM - Navasota drive is 192 miles?
-
I expect Navasota to be very tough this year, along with Silsbee, BC, LCM and don't plan to sleep on Livingston or Cleveland either. The original point was, get ready to spend some time on the road come Friday nights.
On to other points: Huffman should be ready, will be interesting in the direction we go in finding a new QB but the team looks solid. Return almost all the Defense which was extremely young last year and came around at times last half of the season. O-line returns 4 of 5, 2 of which will be 3 year starters. Return our RB and 3 of 4 WRs, 1 of which will be a 3 year starter.

Navasota about to run this district over. Silsbee got a fightin' chance but that's it.
Last year, didn't they say Navasota was going to run all over Carthage in the playoffs? Guess that's why they play the game.

Bit Partial, but still
Dennis Bardwell - OL - Huffman (6-5, 280) Junior Day's at University of Houston, Texas State and Texas Tech

I can see Livingston replacing Splendora as a straight move. But, any guesses on who would replace Jasper in 10-4a DI if they slip down to DII?
Please let it be somebody less than 2 hours away!

Good game Kilgore. Good luck in the next round
-
Crazy turn of events in the last 2 mins of the half Kilgore with two picks on balls within 3 yards of the line of scrimmage. Kilgore up 41-20
-
Yeah, picked by the DE ! He tipped the ball to himself and ran it in. Great play by him but hates to see it happen
-
On side kick we chased around like a stuck pig and then loose it in the end. Kilgore driving
-
Yes we are happy to let you run the clock out for us. No if we hold on to the ball
-
LCM with a TD called back for come back block 40 yards behind the ball. Ends up throwing a INT in the endzone

I have question do y'all think its better to have a lot of talented players are a good coach?
A good group of talented players can make a huge difference for a season or two and can even overcome poor coaching to have success. However, if your looking to establish a solid program with a winning tradition then your going to have to have a good coach. One who is good with the Xs and Os of course, better still is one with the added skills to inspire young athletes to be motivated to be apart of the program.
Even with a good coach there will be ebbs and flows in team talent but if the younger guys are working hard and getting better then it makes for fewer down years.

Steady sprinkle going on right now, ya'll be safe on the drive over.

Yeah, turf field along with a very nice turf baseball and softball fields. Our Freshman/JV played there this year. The field is nice but the stands are not finished yet.
I enjoyed the Alamo field in Jasper if not the outcome of the game. While it was dated the field was in very good shape and the stadium had a nostalgic feel to it.
-
Looks like there will be some rain Friday night. May have an impact on the Falcon's passing game, but with the turf field it shouldn't be to much unless it get pretty heavy.

Good job to Jasper on putting a plan together and executing. #12 is a beast, the O-line and #35 are no slouch either. The defensive blitz scheme did well early but we did adjust to it and moved the ball later but we were already behind and then had to kick off to start the 3rd which ended in a big swing of points.
Does leave a bit of a sour taste when you go that far and on the second play of the game they have to move a Ref who obviously has no clue what is going on. I'll watch some film and see how bad it really was but from first impressions I can see why Jasper is so hard to beat at home. I know the nature of things says that he would call bad for both sides but Wow, it seemed very one sided.
I know, it seems a bit salty even as I type it but it is no attempt to take away from Jasper players who played a heck of a game just my observation of how things went down. Jasper most likely comes out on top with a solid crew, but I'd sure have liked to see that game and not bite my tongue watching 4 quarters of a guy who only threw a flag either after another Ref threw one or after the play ended.
Jasper - Silsbee game needs to be webcast so I can listen while watching Huffman-LCM next week.
