A game that was plagued with turnovers by Jaspers (6 I believe). The shotgun is causing the same problembs as last year, too many fumbled snaps that's leadingto scores for the opponent.

Dominique Bailey of Jasper is one to watch. He along with 6-7 Sr. Terrance Avant gives Jasper two legitimate reasons to be the suprise team in District 21-3A. I believe they will pull off several upsets during district play.

I believe they will suprise a few people this year. The talk is everyone hopes football and basketball will be little more motivated based on what the baseball program did - 3A STATE CHAMPS!!!!!

ALL GOOD COACHES NEED GOOD PLAYERS!

In many cases I feel small school coaches are more versed and perhaps more qualified than given credit. The last job I was the head coach of all sports. This included JH & HS Girls & Boys cross country, basketball, track & field & yes baseball and drove a full bus route. More importantly, I became well versed in administrative duties and task. I am at a much larger school and its so funny, I am not accustomed to do so little. There are many good coaches at the lower levels and the aforementioned men could coach anywhere and do a fantastic job!

Who will win the Kirbyville vs Jasper district opener? I really think this game will be huge for the winner, as it will probably set the table for the playoffs.

How good will the dawgs be in 2007? Can they compete with WOS, Silsbee and Hardin-Jefferson?

Spoke to him and his son in Port Arthur this week and they feel real good about this team.

Tod Stark will be elevated as Athletic Director/Head Football Coach.

There are many good coaches in this district. I think Travis and his staff at Silsbee does an excellent job.You better have some good players also. I think Jasper and WOS could decide who the district champs will be based on their games against H-J and Silsbee, not necessarily their games against each other, because I think they will split.

Much has been said over the past year about the district no being in good financial standing. Also, it was reported that the students of this school have been given the option to move to other schools by the state. I don't know if this true, its only speculation, but I have been in a place where students recieved permission to leave a district because of a poor academic rating.

Eddie Henson was named head basketball coach at the last board meeting. Don't know much about him, but he has ties to the Hemphill/West Sabine (Pineland) area and I believe he coached at Timpson last year.

Kelly Carter will be recommended for hire at the next board meeting set for Tuesday, July 3rd.

Who will take over for Kevin McCugh who resigned as head boys basketball coach to become principal at Jasper? This place has a very strong basketball tradition and a good nucleus of players returning.

It has been a great start to Jasper's NBA Legends camp directed by Monica Lamb, former Houston Comet center. The early count was approximately 125 and they expecting 20 - 50 additional campers on tomorrow. John Eagen was today's guest, to be followed by Roobert Reid on tomorrow.

Aggie, Hold your horses and consider this while your halted. Jasper will have greater participation as evident by Coach Brook's offseason program. Offensively, Coach Quick will direct the offense and you can bet there will be improved excution by the players and decision-making by the coaching staff. Jasper's greatest struggles were on offense and many times, it was simply offensive just to watch what happening on that side of the ball. I believe you must first have good players to win, but you can't put young players in helpless situations and this happened way too often. I really think Jasper will have a solild hold on third spot and will battle to the end of district for the 2nd place if they emphasize special teams and avoid grind it out typye games because everyone in the district's OL is so much bigger.

What's the latest news on this job! Will the other Barbay land in Coldspring?

Glad to see him get this opportunity. You should expect him to do right by the kids, because he will put them first. You should expect them to be well coached, because hes is well prepared. GOOD LUCK to the entire Anahauc community, great hire.

We hope that we become known as town of champions and are motivated by what happened for the baseball team. Jasper has produced a championship team or indvidual in the following sports: Track, Cross Country & Baseball.

Change is in the air. The future coach if it goess expected (usually it doesn't) would propel the district in the right direction for years to come. The guy has a winning background, comes from a family exceptional coaches and works well with kid. Stay tuned!
