18 3A next year whos gonna make the playoffs
shooter replied to JPTRUNNERBOY09's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They better play better defense and find an interior game if they expect to win the district. Kwame Spikes and Dominique are off to a good start in spring league ball. Spikes scored 41 points Tuesday night and Bailey is averaging 20 plus points a game after two games. The players are not playing on the same team to make each other better. -
Malcolm Bronson knocks two of the park as Yankee scout watches from the stands. Some in the MLB circles believe he is a legitmate prospect. Team pitches around him for the remainder of the game.

Which do you perfer College or NBA basketball

College, these kids really play hard. This is evident during tournament play as lower seeds knock off higher seeds or take the games down to the wire. Do these kids get a paycheck, they play much harder than the pros. -
Fort Worth Southwest coach suspended 1 year
shooter replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Coop, Am I reading this correctly, that there is no appeal process. If this is the case it goes against demcratic principles. The coach stated that he couldn't protest the UIL's ruling. I hope this is not case, because if it is, the UIL has too much power and I just lost more faith in due process. -

That wasn't worth saying; you can praise people without condemning others. I refer you to the post just above yours. -
no-look, Jasper's has two 1st team all-district players returning (Kwame Spikes/Dominique Bailey) and have some subvarsity kids that are ready to step up. They have committed the off-season to developing 6-5 Matthew Barrows and 6-4 Justin McCullough. Their kids will be starting spring ball soon and the gym is open. Expect Ryan Gaston, Anoir Walker & Brandon Weatherspoon to step and they have a sleeper in guard Jonathan Hadnot (didn't play this season). Expect them to be bigger and faster than the previous team. Their in the weight room and playing ball as much as they can.

West Orange-Stark really started to play a style of basketball late in the season that went well with the type of athletes they have. I think Coach Quinn will have them in the mix next season.

Call H-J and find out, or call the district chair and maybe you can get some facts about a kid in the district before you mention his name on this website, especially on an issue that could breech student confidentiality.
-
You shouldn't question anything, it's correct. Many were allowed to bash this kid on this site when in fact, you didn't know what you all were talking about in an earlier post concerning this student-athlete's age and classification. My suggestion is, if you don't know the facts, don't comment on it. This kid has a parent and others who care about him, and it's a bit distasteful to present false statements about him over and over again on this site.

TABC rankings generally have to do with the coach calling in and lobbying for it in most cases. I assume as most coaches, Coach Williams doesn't put much stock in rankings. Also, who's no. 1 in the North for instance, is very different from what happens in SETX because the style of play is so different and so are the opponents and their style of play and level of competion they have gone up against. GO TIGERS!!

It just seems to me that we have added too many teams to the playoff format by allowing four teams from 4A to advance. What is your take on this?

I am proud to see the success Coach Stapert's having at Spurger this year. Your dedication has paid off. Best of luck to you and the pirates.

Informer, Thanks!

Coach of the Year Coach Williams or Coach Sutherland Co-Coaches of the Year Willams/Sutherland Success= Players w/outstanding abilities (Bernard/Last Year's DI prospect/Robinson) Coaches who can get kids to play up to these abilities Intangibles such as heart, hustle, commitment and pure grit I know both of these gentlement do a great job, but without Bernard and Robinson, there wouldn't be anything or anyone to discuss.

I don't think Jasper's goal is to develop a team of only two players. I watched their coaches in practice I have never seem them only coach Spikes and Bailey. However, every team has recognizable players and when you speak of those teams, you think of those players. While we can talk strategy and all that stuff, to win a championship you must develop a point guard, a true center and have solid role players around them, and have kids that dedicate themselves to a game that has become a year long committment, and have a great fan base. Hats off to Orangefiled players, coaches and that outstanding fan base; you'll have the dynamics in place to make a legitimate run in the playoffs and I think the program is set up for long-term success.

*Big Sandy vs. Goodrich/Goodrich Wins/Comments*
shooter replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I am convinced that Coach Lester King of Goodrich is one of the best coaches in the state - The guy finds a way to win even when everyone thinks he's going to be down. -
I believe Jasper/Orangefield could battle it out, but I don't think it will be easy for either team at WOS because of their speed, athleticism and good rebounding. I do believe there are teams in the district that despite their records, they are capable of upsetting one of the top two teams at home. I wouldn't put much stock in Orangefield's close loss to Silsbee earlier this year or Jasper's narrow win at BC. I think if the Jasper team could suprise one of the top two teams if they just get it together and keep it together for 32minutes. I like how the Orangefield team is coming along and their confindence seems sky hihgh. It could be interesting indeed.
