my wife at the start of the season half heartedly said " you think Coach is gonna retire after this year?  cause his daughter is a senior this year".
I just kinda laughed it off, but I swear ,especially early on in the season he coached like someone who was trying to just to just get it over with. 
 

Every team Rusk has beaten is ranked higher than every team Jasper has beaten.  Just saying

Jasper just doesn’t look that good this year, all across the field on both sides of the ball. Aside from the D line, I just don’t see the level of talent they usually have. I would be more upset at the coaches for last season, taking a team that actually had a squad and doing nothing with it. I was surprised they were an easy out in the first round of the playoffs, this year I’d be surprised if they made the playoffs. Now the constant penalties and mistakes would worry me, did you have a lot of that last year also?

I’m a firm believer in football being about x and o’s..  no matter what offense you run, it’ll come down to blocking, executing, and sound defense.  Nothing wrong with going under center.  That don’t mean you’re just a running team.! Plenty of teams that run just as much as Jasper and go out the shotgun in spread.  There are teams that go under center and pass just as good as anyone.  Jasper will need to evaluate the personnel and make sure that the kids are ready physically and mentally to run that offense and be sound enough on defense to make it work.  Like I’ve said before, I’m not a big fan of the Jasper staff, but I have no problem with their scheme and think a tweak here and there that I can work and get them a deep playoff run...  

Actually, Jasper is like a remarkably average looking girl that you take out for dinner at the Cedar Tree and you realize that she can't hold a fork or a conversation.  Then she mentions that her fee-yawn-say has been in jail since the Spring and that she's five weeks pregnant... but she's not worried about it... she can take care of herself.  
And all you want to do is skip dessert and drop her off at her bruncle's house and hope nobody noticed the two of you out on the town.  
I've given credit to Officer Barbrady and the Dawgs for renewing their matchup with Silsbee.... I also suspect that Jasper will (as always) have some good athletes rise to the occasion.  I don't see Barbay making any substantial changes... Jasper is kinda like us in the fact that they aren't a qb factory.... I don't know how you can cultivate state championship talent under center, so that leaves you completely reliant on a rb.... that will still work down in 3A D2 where Newton lives, but it doesn't fly against squads like y'all run into in 4A.  It eventually catches up, if for no other reason than not being able to defend a passing attack because you just don't see one often enough. 
But the dawgs will finish near the top of District and hopefully make a round or two further than they did this year.

And the rest of our District game and 2nd in the district.
And go 2 rounds in the playoffs 3rd round if we're lucky.
But running only 8 to 9 of the same plays with no passing attack. We will be home real soon!!!!😠
 

As Albert Einstein was famously quoted... The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting A different result.  So.......

Blah blah blah blah.... every year we run the same vanilla offense in games we know we will win.... claiming we are “saving something” for the tough teams.   Then we proceed to get our ASS KICKED because we try to run offensive scheme we aren’t used to running... and usually once we fall behind.  Here we go again.  

We always have athletes. That's not enough to get where we need to go. Never has been. 

Newton has built a pipeline as well.

I have no idea if anyone's even looking at him. For some reason, big colleges don't look at our guys very often. We had a guy that just graduated this year that was every bit as good as Limbrick and I never heard a word about him going anywhere.

Before the season I thought that this would just about be the ceiling for Newton this year. I ended up revising my forecast upwards after Newton did so well in non-district. 
 
Nothing to be ashamed of considering what all was lost from that 2018 team/staff. 
 
I wish a “bad” year for us was a third round exit. Newton will be back before long. 

Some guys can wring a lot of production out of a group of semi-talented kids and some guys just can't seem to win big with a bunch of talent on the field.  
I'm not sure where Barbray is. 
 

Just like every year. I feel bad for a guy like Art, who has dedicated so much of his time over the last 45 years to what he does. I'd love to see him go out with a ring. 

Silsbee has a history of kids in need of supervision.

Let's hope UIL puts Jasper in same district with Silsbee so that a certain decision is taken out of the hand of a certain coach.

Livingston had a TD called back against Shepherd,  two TDs called back against Orangefield, and another against Liberty that would have made it a game. They are explosive, just gotta clean up a few things.
The field will be fine, there has not been much rain here.
So no benefit of a sloppy field. Jasper will do what they want. But it wouldn't surprise me if Lions got 3 TDs.

Too bad, jasper prefers an easy schedule.

Its obvious that the Bmt Enterprise doesn't watch H.S. Baseball.
