  1. Wow. You guys wanted some ammo there it is. I would verify this statement and have a copy on hand if at all possible. If she questions how a "non-taxpaying" coach can have a stadium named after him ask her how a non-taxpaying school board member can ask such a question.
  2. buy/sell WOS stadium issue will be tabled until a later date.
  3. Well, if you speak just be civil and respectful. It will make you guys look better. I was told today she had been in the grocery stores with a petition. Sad actually. If you really want to bust her chops get the attendance records of the board meetings. If she has a history of missing meetings ask why. If she doesn't see fit to be there to help make tough decisions for the betterment of the children of the district why be there at all.
  4. The media has been a let down the past couple of years especially the Enterprise. Looks like every story is just a cut and paste from the A.P. The last few seasons you were lucky if a box score of a hs fb game was even in it on a Saturday morning. As far as the other media I guess if you are from mid county you enjoy the fb coverage. :?
  5. Sell Barring some kind of gaff/injury I see them as 4th. Buy/sell a homer will find us' date=' create havoc for a bit, and be shown the door.[img'][Hidden Content]
  6. I would like to buy but at this point I will sell. How will the kids and parents respond to the discipline of the new coach? I can see a lot of turmoil in the athletic department if the vacancies are not filled to the community's satisfaction. That whole place is a tinderbox. No way would I want to be there until it all settles down.
  7. 7lbs. Caught in the cove just to the right of Bevil Port boat ramp on the Angelina. Chrome with blue back crank bait in late September.
  8. Gonna have to sell. Whereas Nederland has been good it seems they have been down a tad from the higher teams of say 3-5 years ago. That's not to say they won't be successful. Buy/Sell Dayton will finish no lower than second in the final district standings.
  9. Sell: WOS will get there but I just can not buy into all of the BC love after just one year. The year before, any team with speed seemed to give BC fits.
  10. I noticed on another hs football board a few days back they had a "buy or sell" thread based off of the ESPN show. Here's how it works, someone throws out a statement. You quote the statement saying the reason you buy into it or sell. Afterwards you throw in your own buy/sell question. Buy or Sell The most entertaining football will be played in 21-3A over 22-4A.
  11. I was on the field last season during the Silsbee/Palestine game and those things were everywhere. Looks like little BBs. Amazing how far turf fields have come since the old Astroturf days. The Dome's turf isn't near as forgiving as the new field turf. I could see how injuries could occur.
  12. Liberty? I know they are black and gold and we have played them the past 2 years.
  13. You got to add those sacks of black pellets. Lufkin had just added a few thousand pounds of those before the playoffs last season.
  14. Little grainy pic but I do believe that is in Silsbee. From the far right you see the opening in the trees from where hwy 96 runs.
  15. Yeah, Silsbee can't be considered a Cinderella when they are expected to be there. I just hope they can live up to the hype.
  16. I would prefer another season of Playmakers. That was an awesome show ESPN had until the NFL pressured them to end it.
  17. There are some teams out there that you know what they are going to run before the ball is even snapped. What are some predictable teams you have seen? I remember watching Newton a few years back. They were very basic, when the fullback lined left the tb/qb was going left. When the fb lined right the tb/qb was going right. It was so basic yet unstoppable. It was a stop it if you can type mentality. It works because they have the athletes. I also find Lumberton pretty predictable. Certain receivers move and the pass is headed that way. The most unpredictable team I have seen however is Kirbyville. Alvarez has more trick plays than anyone I have ever seen. They blow a lot of folks out who get caught up in the trickery. The best trick play I remember was in '88 when WOS played Tomball (Tomball beat Silsbee the week before thus no WOS/Silsbee matchup  ) in the quarters. They go to the line with 10 men on the field. Then the "extra" 11th man comes jogging over to the qb who was on the left side 10 yards away from the line to "get the play". As the qb appears to be telling the play the ball was hiked to the rb catching the whole defense off guard. They were watching the qb "tell the play."
  18. Usually only thing I get in Jasper is the $2 hot chocolate. Best $2 you ever spent when freezing to death. When I was in Kountze the FFA always had the pit going. I really can't comment on the food, but the smoke kept them 'skeeters down on the field.
  19. But there is nothing better than the feeling of seeing the monsters versus your smaller team and your team getting the win. Sometimes in pregame warmups I would just sit in awe at the size of some teams and their players, but only 11 of them are out there at a time.
  20. lol I had to duck down a few times to see the play at the other end of the field due to the limbs. If it rained however, it would drip for the entire game.
  21. I remember seeing them play us in Silsbee and their linemen wer so big they were literally touching at the hips when the got into their stance. I do not think anyone was under 300lbs. WR/DBs were tall and fast.
  22. Livingston stands are kind of cool. You have trees directly over the visitor side. Always good if you play them early in the season when it is hot. What is crazy is looking down and realizing you are over their neighbor's property.
  23. Even though I feel the midcounty teams get too much media attention I do like Neuman at Nederland. His teams do not have the talent a lot of other teams have but mistakes are kept to a minimum and that is the key to winning. I remember just before the PA schools merged Lincoln had tremendous talent, size, and speed but they lacked the discipline needed in the game. Offsides and just minor penalties killed tem. If those kids were more solid in the fundamentals they would have been awesome.
