  1. Well, someone else's 0 has got to go. Humble has started off the season 3-0 with a couple good wins over Kingwood Park and Reagan. Humble has been steadily improving over the last three years and are usually near the top of the district in terms of flat out athleticism. Crosby has played each game better than the last and Humble looks to be an excellent matchup for the Cougars and their new found defensive prowess. The Code Red offense has also improved each game and will get a pretty good test with what Humble will run out on the defensive side of the ball. I think 5 wins gets you in the playoffs this year in our district and whoever can get this second one will be in very good position to grab one of the four spots. Is Humble for real this year or will the Red Tide continue to rise?
  2. congtats y'all got a heck of a coach and some nasty talent. Ernie Starnes was a close family friend and I think Price will have these kids playing ball like he did.

I think he's also going to start to get so e transfers. There isn't really a good football school in the northeast corner of the city plus now their district extends south of 90 so they have a growing enrollment. They're also playing pretty good defense who his being overshadowed by their offensive numbers. They're in prime position to make a run.
  3. *Just some stats and observations

With 53 offensive plays to BH's 56 offensive plays, Crosby came up just shy of doubling the output of the Eagles. I would never say anything as crazy as we had a replacement for the Twins, but if you get 20 carries for 220 yards and two tds between your top 2 backs while your starting qb goes 13-19 for 176 with a passing and rushing td/0 int, there's something to be said for this offense too. No doubt there would have been a couple more tds on the board with the Twins but we were scoring so fast teams got several extra possessions. Both backs are averaging over 10 yards per carry and the passing game is coming together, by the end of the season Crosby might be putting up Twin-like numbers. It will be by committee of course but the potency could be just the same.

If everyone stays relatively healthy the only thing I see between Crosby and a deep run this year are the 5 teams in FB County. Old Dave might have been right for a change, Code Red might be a dark horse.
  4. Better worry bout your kitties when the panthers come knocking.. instead of all your gloating.

Crosby is still the big cat on the block until I notify you otherwise. Looks like we'll both be 9-0 when Crosby shows up on Crenshaw Blvd. No gloating, y'all were supposed to lose, I'm simply reiterating what I've been saying the last two years. If you paid attention to statistics you would see that. Good luck in your struggles with BH next week. I'm sure if they win they'll be the new best team in the district.
  5. What haters? What asinine comments? Don't see Crosby going far in the playoffs. BH is undersized and Crosby beat them up in the trenches and threw for quite a bit of yards.

It's amazing how the perception on here is that Crosby sucks worse after each win. Beating people up in the trenches is the strength of our team and part of winning. The same thing has happened to all 3 teams the Cougars have lined up against and will continue to happen barring injuries. BH is still in good position for a 3rd place finish. Good luck with Dayton next week.
  6. you got a point im looking directly at your post lol.

I was actually thinking of starting a thread titled "Where Cougar14 was wrong", but then decided not to when I realized there would be nothing but post from you and LilTex on there. Lol

And say my name next time at the preview show instead of just hinting at it, let them know the statistics were right again.
  7. And to think, people wanted Aymond out for not winning enough state titles with all that talent. North Shore's DC took over and they can't even score anymore. The one game they won where they scored 36 points they only had 260 yards of total offense I believe. The writing was on the wall from week one. I know Kay had been the DC for a long time under Aymond but he may be in over his head. North Shore is the most talented 6A team in the region once again and will start 1-3 after they lose to Trinity next week. I'm not sure NS has been under 500 at any time in the last 20 years.

  8. Week 3 5a Chron rankings:

    1 FB ELKINS

    2 RIDGE POI0NT

    3 FOSTER

    4 CROSBY

    5 GEORGE RANCH

    6 FB MARSHALL

    7 CEK

    8 BH???

    9 HUNTSVILLE

    10 DAYTON

    Looks like 21 5a ain't to shabby!

Lots of love for our district but if we're being honest I think GR and FB Marshall are better teams than what we have right now. Marshall probably has the same number of D1 kids as Manvel with half the enrollment. GR has the best backfield tandem in Houston IMO, yes even better than the two 4 star kids Katy has back there. Darius Anderson is GR's 4 star back and they have another kid who might be the most electric player in the region named Xavian Marks. Crosby jumped Marshall because of the win over previous #6 Angleton and passed GR because of a close loss to Friendswood that's about as good an L as you can take. The Chronicle loves BH, they probably paid to be ranked like they pay for everything else including the top basketball player in the country they stole from us.

  9. Playoff wins?Haven't played a dist gm yet

Well why do you think Dayton will make the playoffs if we haven't played a district game yet? And don't give me that bs about a streak either. King has always had solid players, but much like Humble they've been lacking solid qb play to guide them. This looks to be King's best team since my kinfolk Earl Demus was toting the mail. Brantley looks to have matured and is playing very solid from the reports my cousin who attends every King game is giving me. Let's be honest here, all they would need was A playoff win to match BH's total since they moved up. Good luck keeping them in check.
  10. Get ready Dayton, if you thought the 21 carries for 218 yards Chris Jefferson put up was something. Tray Williams might actually improve on his 29 carries for 264 yards he put up last year as a sophomore. Rivals moved his rating to the #4 running back in the country for the 2016 class. He's rated #6 in the country by the 247 composite. After two games, Brantley is also 20-29 for 513 yards and 5 tds to go with 186 rushing yards on 15 carries. They same Magnolia team KP had to rally to beat in the second half by 14, King smashed by 56. Looks like Gage and Price could have equal playoff wins with their respective teams after this year.

  11. Saw a boxscore from the Orangefield/Buna game in week 1. Orangefield had 267 yards of offense, zero turnovers, 13 points. Buna had 125 total yards, 1 turnover, 14 points. Orangefield "out statted" Buna except the most important stat, points. ;)

Yeah, and the Cowboys "out statted" the 49ers and lost a game Frisco dominated. There are more stats to look at other than total yards. Now if Buna was to be doubled up in yardage every game they play then I'm sure their record would reflect it. A given night the stats might not tell the while story but over the course of a season they're almost sure to do so.
  12. Have you ever noticed when you see those analyst on TV they are wrong a lot of the time when they use STATISTICS when predicting how a team will preform? Take the Texans for example. last season.. Freaking did the epic fail... So what kind of STATISTICS did the analyst go by to predict that? Just wondering...

Thank you April for bringing then up. The Texans are a prime example of what I was talking about. Two games into the season when they were 2-0 the analyst were saying that the team would be lucky to get to 6-10. They had the number one pass defense in the league most of the year and the defense was ranked high overall for a good portion of that time. What the analyst were looking at though is a team that was close to last in run defense and gave teams extra possessions due to a turnover prone qb meaning there was no need to pass against them. After a couple more games teams realized statistically that Shaub struggled against the blitz due to lack of mobility and Houston couldn't run it to keep defenses honest so they jumped all the play action passes that were usually gold when Foster was chewing up yardage. Houston was then attacked where they were statistically weak the rest of the year which led to the first pick in the draft. Again April, thank you for bringing that up. The Texans were a perfect example of statistics and trends telling the story.
  13. Numbers don't lie check the scoreboard... You the idiot that thinks stats win every game!!!
BTW I got your boys by 3 TDs... Good luck

Stats don't win games, they explain the story of why the game was won or lost. When you see analyst on TV talk about games and how they think teams will perform, they don't make blind assumptions. They lay out their theory and use STATISTICS to back it up. I guess the guys that get paid to make predictions are wrong for using the data provided, they should just go off of who won the game in '98. SMH
