Crosby is not due to beat Dayton for another 8 years or so, it hasn't been a decade yet.
Jerry Stewart was sitting by me at the game big boy. Which means he doesn't coach Dayton any more. Y'all have had the district in a strangle hold for a while.Times have changed, Riordan is here and I think this is the beginning of a different era. Get all your horses in a row, Crosby is coming in search of a district title.
  2. It's raining but I don't see any lightning. Good luck trying to break down in front of the twins on a wet field. Y'all couldn't tackle them last year on a dry one. Ask LilTex what we do when we're forced to run in 'cause of the weather. 8 returning starters total on O and D for the Mound this year, some of your defensive starters hurt. Good luck trying to keep Crosby under 40. And another thing, is there actually a Barbers Hill fan that thought they had a chance to win the game once the whistle blew, don't get caught up in the score. Y'all got dominated in every aspect of the game.

Thanks Bronco1....glad you can be selective in what you do not want to read. Cougar14 didn't cross a line with a translator comment but I did.
Like he said, english is not those kids first language and it's a better chance than not they didn't understand the ref when he was talking. That's what I was saying. All that aside though, the kids from Barrett Station do speak english so you won't need a translator. Bring a calculator though, this thing could get ugly if y'all can't 3 yards and a cloud of dust us to death.
I see how this works.....but as a BH fan I cannot respond or I get deleted.....that statement bolded is equally as racist and inflammatory.......must be nice having a Bronco doing your dirty work
Nothing racist about what I was saying. I was articulating what you were thinking. My parents just built a half million dollar house on the 40 acres they own in Barrett Station. My whole family is from Barrett Station and that's where most of the kids you said speak ebonics live. You need to thank Bronco for saving you from your own ignorance. We speak facts in Crosby, y'all are living on one district title and a pipe dream. That dream comes to a crashing halt tonight on 2100 though, hope you're there to see the show live. After tonight you'll be wishing you had some of those kids, kind of like you were wishing last year after that beatdown.

Looks like BH took out the Freshman and JV last night ;D Will it be a clean sweep? Stay tuned ;)
All you need to know is Crosby's jv rolled everybody except Dayton last year with 6 sophomores on varsity, 9-1. Those are the kids you'll be playing tonight, along with a defense that has given up 13pts in the last 7 quarters. Bigger, stronger, faster version of the twins with some receivers that flat out go. Justin Walter(twins older cousin), and Singleton are matchup nightmares for the Mound especially if y'all have players missing in the secondary. I would hold off on that rain dance too, the worse the weather the more Austin gets it.  I don't care if y'all do run it for 250, you won't have more than 50 passing. You're going to see tonight what a 19-4a title contender really looks like. We won more than one game last year, something neither one of your previous opponents can claim.
  6. I don't care who the opponent is 605 yds is impressive. That being said, of the 4 teams that BH and Crosby have played this season, Nederland is the only decent team. All that ends this week we start a long district competition with 2 potential contenders. This will iron some things out early.

    19-4A District side note:
If Summer Creek beats PN-G we will have to set through 2 weeks of heck. Until Crosby spanks them on the 28th.605 total yards versus willis.... not too shabby.
We played the #5 team in the state relatively tight. They jumped on us with a quick touchdown and we had two consecutive punts that went less than 15 yards, both of which Nederland turned into touchdowns. They scored the 3rd td as the second quarter started. After we scored we had a fumble while on a drive that could of turned the whole complexity of the game. We pretty much won the last three quarters. A loss is a loss though and we deserved to lose. That was the first game with 6 or 7 new starters in a new offense. Very physical game, Crosby won't see another team that good or physical until the dance if they get there. Barbers Hill doesn't have those kind of players. The offensive numbers could have been sick, but there was no reason to run the score up. Turnovers are the only chance The Mound has. If we don't, they won't. Last six years against the Barbies total score of 155-128, Crosby 4-2. History doesn't necessarily say so, but I'm telling you, Crosby could blow this one open.

This is a big game Crosby really needs to win.Next week the Coogs travel to Bronco stadium where they've never won. Then it doesn't let up the following week w/Summer Creek.BOT BH by 17

This district is looking to be a slug-fest.  SC, BH, Dayton, King, Crosby...........All on a collision course.  Crosby runs the plank first.......
Well, as you can see from your "Barbers Hill 2011 district champs" note there hasn't been much for y'all to cheer about since you became 4a. Definitely not any playoff wins. You won't have anything to cheer about Friday night either, unless some of the band parents show up. I see you say the Mound is Dayton's daddy, but y'all are Crosby's stepchild. We love playing the eagles, y'all are the antithesis of slow, basic, overachievers. I don't think y'all took us lightly last year. I think once we ran three plays, had 14 points and got you in a hole y'all couldn't run that pee-wee offense. Threw one right over the top and then Walter went 75 on a swing pass next possession. Nederland ran it but they killed us with the pass plays. Y'all have the same qb as last year and I've seen him throw, it's nothing to be excited about. Neither are his passing numbers this year. Trying to Vidor us to death is y'alls only hope and I think Riordan is ready. Y'all know what the twins bring to the table, but you will be thoroughly impressed with the defense and receivers. In Crosby, district opener, hated rivals, Riordan might run it up, 42-21 Coogs. Too much everything for y'all.

See this is what happens to threads when you start talking logic and sense(no one comments)! Where is Smoking Baby when you need him ;)  I guess I will throw a little spice in this one ;D Crosby scores 7 on Ned with that awesome offense then GCM scores 20 on Ned and Lumbertion. BH scores 58 on Lumberton with the 1st team coming out before the half ;D This brings be to the conclusion that Willis is really horrible and Crosby will recieve a butt whoopin Friday by the Eagles 8)
I know Enterprise is releasing all that pollution in the air over there so I guess I can give you a pass for being a little off your rocker. You drive some football players in from Mexico, and when they show up y'all trick them with an oblong ball. They were expecting a round ball that said Adidas on it. Lumberton is going to finish last in 20-4a. Nederland was beating the Creek 45-7 last time I checked. Memorial only beat Lumberton 20-0, y'all beat them 58-8 because you have to. You knew once district started you would be struggling for a playoff spot. Our coach "resigned" because we couldn't win a regional final. Y'all have disclaimers at the bottom of your post that talk about girl's cross country district accomplishments.  I'm not sure but I think y'all only beat us once or twice since you've become 4a. We had beaten Nederland 3 consecutive times though. I think Crosby presents too many match up problems for the Mound. We have the best backfield in the district and some receivers that are starting to make big time plays. Nederland got some good yardage on us but the D is fast and physical, Dogs are just a more polished product right now. We're playing in Crosby this year where we always seem to start fast. If y'all get in a hole early like last year it could get bad. Our offense is more potent and y'all lost a lot on defense. I could easily see us blowing this one open. I don't think y'all have as good a running game as Nederland and they had 268. I think y'all get about 225 on the ground but with less than 50 passing yards. No way y'all keep us under 400 total yards. If we don't turn the ball over y'all just don't have enough to beat us. I'll still stay with the 38-24 for now.

Grad you must of wanted to be apart of this great smack thread :) Before the smack starts however there will not be a blow out in this game. Both teams put up some massive offense Friday night and this will be a great game. This will be BH first game to be tested in and I think they will respond. Don't think Crosby can stop this offense ,but the question is can BH stop Crosby???? Last year we could not which ended up in a 7 point defeat. My non smack prediction will be that BH wins this game by 10.

    BH 38
    Crosby 28
Weren't y'all 9-0 saying the same thing last year? Didn't we play in Mont Belvieu in front of an announced record crowd? Was not what I heard is "We have three running backs with over 600 yards, they can't stop our O"? Well, here is my non-smack prediction. Austin had somewhere around 250 total yards against y'all last year. Aston probably played his best game of the season. I can't find the stats from last night but Austin had to be around 200 yards and Aston is getting better in the new passing offense. They only played 3 qtrs though. We play in Crosby this year first of all. Secondly this defense is one of the better ones I've seen in a while even though we have a little trouble with the pass, but y'all don't throw. Lastly y'all don't have Nederland's d-line which means you can expect a carbon copy of what you saw from the twins last year. I think Austin gets the same 250 in total yards and if Aston doesn't make any mistakes with his arm he might look like the best player on the field again. Don't forget y'all scored late to get the game close and we had it at the 15 or 20 going in when we started kneeling the ball. The score was closer than it really was. So as usual, good luck in health only! I just don't see The Hill having enough octane, Crosby 38 The Hill 24
  10.
Well BH15, I'm glad you don't think Crosby needs an OL, cause after watching them on film it doesn't appear they have one. By the way, doesn't every team have to outscore its opponent to get the win?
Well, I hope you don't think Nederland has a defensive line. I saw Dayton toy with y'all a week ago. From what I'm reading, some of your better players are banged up on the defensive side of the ball. That's not good for the Dogs cause y'all were already going to have trouble playing in space with Crosby. Now you have guys hindered with lower limb injuries which is going to most likely mitigate the leverage advantage Nederland would have in the trenches. I see a Barbers Hill guy say the twins could be "contained". Well, the twins had the Barbers Hill fans ooohing and aahing in Mont Belvieu last year in front of a record crowd. Maybe he wasn't saying BH contained them though. As far as scoring goes, good luck. That receiver got behind Dayton twice but other than that, nil. Going to be hard to keep Austin under 200yds if that front seven isn't one of the best in Texas as I saw one Dog fan post earlier. Good luck in health only, see y'all in a few days.

new prediction    Crosby 21  Nederland 42
I hope Nederland looks better than they did last night against Dayton. That "vaunted" Nederland defense looked slow and unathletic. Not too much to be excited about on offense either. That receiver is good but looks real ordinary otherwise. If Nederland's defense doesn't get better or healthier in 6 days it could be a copy of what the Crosby offense did to Vidor, 400+ yards and 10ypc. Hopefully this time though we can eliminate the t.o.'s and score a couple more times. Nederland could score 30 on Crosby but if that defense isn't what the Bulldog faithful predict, the CHS drummers could get tired of playing the fight song all night which doesn't bode well for the dogs. I don't think they're equipped for a shootout.

I think ned needs to take a step back and chill. They had some injuries and got beat by an excellent dayton team. It was a freakin scrimmage. Nederland will heal up and who knows dayton and nederland for the region sounds good to me. Keep your heads up watched crosby last night and they looked very average against a horrible mw team.
We'll see how average Crosby looks when Bulldog fans walk out singing the Cougar fight song. Aston right, Austin left, strike up the band.  Talked to the "reasonable" Dayton fans at work, even one of the kids' dad, and they told me they're bigger but less talented than last year. Hererra's loss was huge. Told me Chambers gets flustered easy and doesn't do well with contact. Nederland just looked slow and unathletic last night. Dayton looked bigger but not as talented as last year. Trying to figure out if you have an unproven qb, an rb who's best year is behind him and no real playmakers on the edges, how Dayton is excellent and Crosby is average? Didn't see the scrimmage, but if they did what they did against St. Thomas it was basically a four play offense and try to keep the twins healthy. All this will be for not Friday night when Crosby's singing GO BIG RED late into the Nederland night!
  13. It's hard to get past the fact that last year Crosby had some of thier best talent in the last few years and lost several games they shouldn't have. There was a loss to Lee last year where we were up 10 points with approx. 3 mins left in the game and Flannigan tried to throw a pass which was fumbled or intercepted that in turn allowed Lee to come back and win 33-32. Be it not for that loss, Crosby wins the district and plays the last place team from 20-4a and probably has a different result. Vidor wasn't then or isn't now a more talented team than Crosby, they were just better coached and got some breaks. Crosby wins that game 7 or 8 out of 10 time on a "real" neutral field. Barbers Hill won the district last year and got out-atheleted from whistle to whistle by Crosby. Flannigan didn't have to make any real decisions in that game cause it wasn't that close. I wish Kevin the best and think in due time he's going to give North Shore all they can handle. The talent margins are too close in 19-4a to make bad decisions or slow adjustments. Twins looked bigger, faster, stronger in the St. Thomas scrimmage, kind of ran it at will. Not all that great passing but hopefully it improves once the players get more familiar with the o. Huge offensive and defensive lines from St. Thomas were a good tune up for Nederland. Don't think Nederland is going to be that big, but either way they weren't really a problem. I think Aaron Sharp is going to make the ESPNU 150 next year, saying that I think goes for over 3,000 through the air in this district. My district 19-4a playoff predictions are as follows.
                                  1. Summer Creek - Sharp might be the best qb in the 2014 class in Texas
                                  2. Crosby - Twins are going to put up nearly 3000 rushing yards between them
                                  3. Dayton - They're always there, Hererra's loss is bigger than expected though
                                  4. Barbers Hill - Every decade they're good for a couple of years
*Whoever wins the Crosby/Dayton game ends up in second place.

Husker's weights of the D-Line are legit. The weights of the line-backers are also legit. As for as 40 times you go to enough camps you will find someone with a fast thumb.Bottom line Nederland has something special this year on defense.I understand you doubting us.I promise you these guys are big and move well.Just pray we stay healthy.
I never doubted the weights of the LBs or that these are good players, but having a DL that averages 270 and all run a sub 5 is a little over the top.
First of all it's ridiculous to start make scoring predictions about any teams or future games, like one guy said earlier "if we knew we would be in vegas". Saying that however, the size of the defensive line irrelevant. I've looked for these guys profile on rivals and scout.com but couldn't really find much on any besides the Pryor guy. 6-1 273 is what espn says he goes which means he probably plays with good leverage but his lateral quickness numbers are below average compared to the other dt's camp numbers I've looked at. Tells me they're going to be big and stationary. Couldn't find any offers on rivals or scout for Pryor and he's not officially ranked on any recruiting service. Crosby's line is going to be pretty average this year, probably going 6-2.5 230 lbs. Tackles are very athletic and the defense only lost 3 real starters. Justin Walter(twins older brother) cb, and Vlad Hernandez(1st team all-district last year) lb, are going to be the bell cows. Vidor couldn't handle Crosby's speed last year. They fumbled the opening kickoff and got in an early hole, Vidor played 3 yards and a cloud of offense which Crosby never adjusted to. Hence Flannigan's firing. 400+ yards of offense with very few possesions, Thursday night with no crowd support with Vidor playing a home game. They even had their home announcer complete with the phantom officiating they're legendary for on that side of the river. I'm not going to make an official prediction yet but I will pose a question. If Crosby beat nederland all three time the last three years they played including two in the playoffs, what makes this year so different? Going to watch Crosby scrimmage St. Thomas in crosby tomorrow, will have a prediction after I see the new offense.

Ozen does not have 5 kids going d1. Also northshore does not have 10 kids going d1 my friends son plays safety for ns. Cougfan your facts are jacked up. Also ns has the third highest enrollment in texas so I would hope they have talent. Their enrollment is twice what katy has so as a ratio of students katy puts out just as much talent
To start off, I have never coached little league due to the fact a work quite a bit. It is something I would like to do seeing I have 3 sons I hope will continue wanting to play. I commend the guys that take time to work with the youth, especially seeing something like the penn. st. scandal in recent news. However, I don't think a pop warner offense should beat any varsitys. I'm sure you diagram great plays but they shouldn't be better than a varsity coach. I know ozen probably doesn't have 5 players going d1 this year, but a playoff roster with the kids moved has 5 d1 players on the sideline. 3-4 kids from most teams in 19-4a including lee and north forrest wil play on the next level between jucos, d1s, d2s, 3s and naia's. Coaching gets kids to college which most times is the only way some of these socio-economically disadvantaged youth would have a chance. I just simply stated north shore because they put kids in the espnu top 150, have backups starting, and guys like deandrew white making plays at alabama. I think they have at least 5 guys on nfl rosters also. Check those facts for me. Also, if coaching is equal the teams with the most  talent do win most of the time. For example, programs such as katy, allen, southlake carrol, high park, austin travis and euless trinity are elite due to coaching. I say trinity cause that L coach won two titles in a small 3a town and went to trinity and turned it into one of the elite programs in the country. I do know it's one of the most talent rich programs in the state but it was also there prior. Programs like north shore, pearland, hightower, skyline, desoto, lufkin, cedar hill, are great mostly because of the talent. The coaches are good but the talent is usually better. Great coaches contend with good talent, good coaches contend with great talent. Crosby doesn't have great talent therefore we need a great coach. Jerry Stewart contended for the regional finals yearly with good talent. When you gave him dugat and green he contended for it all and lost to another team with great talent and mainly one kid. Dickey went 1-9 two years in a row, haynes came in and contended with his son and a 5-7 reciever he put in the state record books. You can't go 4-6 with dominic merka even if we did go a couple rounds deep. Flannigan is a good coach, we just yearned for a better one.
  16.
Dear Cougar14,

You sir, disgust me!  The only stomach churning going on is to read that someone, who I suspect has never coached anything other than perhaps pee wee flag football, would have to audacity to say that Vidor's team is made up of nobody's that wouldn't even start in Crosby.  Well, our boys wouldn't WANT to!  These boys have played through pain, both physical and emotional this year and have remained unwavered in their quest to go as far as they possible can towards state.  They play with their heart and carry the memory of their fallen brother on that field every week.  These kids are fine young men and Crosby would be lucky to have them grace their field.  As far as the coaching staff in Vidor, they are second to NONE.  These men spent much of their time away from their families to not only coach this team, but to mentor them and to be role models of what a man truly is.  Vidor won that game against Crosby because they fought their way to a win....Crosby came up short.  It's unfortunate to me that people in Crosby don't understand that although it is the coach's responsibility to prepare these boys to play the game, they are not the ones on the field.  The team has to have the will to win and play with that determination.
All I was saying Ms. Baseballwife is that vidor runs a simplified scheme with inferior athletes. For example, I belive they beat ozen this year. Ozen has 5 kids that will play d1 football, which I would describe as talent. Crosby has similiar numbers. The difference is how the kids are prepared. I played d1 college football after rushing for 1000+ with jimmy dickey as the head coach. Lamar mitchell and I were the first team all district backs in 2000. I had 4 other guys in my class that played d1. We went 1-9 and only lost one game (#6 forest brook) by more than 4 points. I would call that squandered talent. Y'all have been to the playoffs 5 times in 40 years, that's a talent problem. Vidor has a couple kids that might be able to walk on somewhere which is fine for a program of that stature. I guess if I offended you I will pay reparations by saying katy doesn't have much talent either but wins state championships. I know your going to say Andy Dalton which is fine, that's one guy off several state championship teams. At the end of the year look at the offers katy players have versus a team like north shore who had to beat channelview to get into the playoffs. They have over 10 d1 kids on the varsity, katy has 3-4 but steamrolls north shore as of late. Tim cornett is the starting running back at unlv. He backed up tracy woods at north shore, as in didn't start in high school but started as a true freshman at a major d1. Katy could claim nothing of the sort but would beat the shore 8 out of 10 times. Only difference, gary joseph.
  17. I understand the seemingly sudden resignation of Coach Flannigan may shock some. What's even more shocking is the ineptitude with which he and his staff meander through the season and try to mitigate ridiculous losses with a playoff run that lasts a couple of weeks. There's no hidden story or failure to play someone's child behind his dismissal. It's the 33-32 loss to baytown lee after being up 10 points late in the fourth, the continous shortcomings with heated rival dayton who often has less talent but superior coaching, and the most stomach churning which is losing to vidor who runs a pop warner offense with players who wouldn't even start at crosby. I think what sums it up is the 49-7 2009 home playoff loss to dayton in which the post-game hand shake heard jerry stewart tell kevin flannigan, "If I had your team I would win it all." You have to remember, Haynes did more with less. It's about winning over here, and not just winning district games. There should be a conserted effort to win them all, and undoubtedly the school board feels the same way most of us do. Overall flannigan is a good person and decent leader of young men. . . . He's just not the coach for crosby.
