  1. Did the Redistricting process water down the 4A districts?
Looks like each district has 1 good team, 2 or 3 mediocre teams, and the rest are fighting for last place.
In my opinion, Huffman, Coldspring, andWOS have very little competition in district this year. They may each have 1 tough game, jasper, shepherd, and HJ respectively.

  3. Not as good as the 2012 team...nothing could be more obvious. The 2013 team wasn't either. The fact is your 2012 team is a once in a generation type team. Navasota hasn't fielded a team that good in decades. With that said, they are still quite good this year (and most every year), but as one respected coach close to the action told a friend of mine..."The 2012 Navasota team is the best passing team I've ever seen in class 3A."

I wish we (WO-S) would play a pre-district game against the Rattlers. WO-S has fielded better QB play since the 2012 match up, so I know the match up would be super competitive. WO-S has historically had a very hard time scheduling teams to play us in pre-district. That's one of the reasons we're playing 4A (5A last year) Richmond Foster tonight. In fact, we tried to schedule a state finalist from last year. That team's coach was warned by a common opponent that "WO-S was the hardest hitting team we have ever played." So, he declined our attempt to schedule a game. I know Coach Fedora would not flinch to play us.

Be careful what you wish for. Playing Navasota for a few years hasn't worked out so well for Coldspring. We seem to have that problem with finding pre-district games too. End up with Navasota, LaMarque, Rosenburg, etc. In the long term it makes the team better, because they have to play tougher teams, but it sure can crush an early season record.
  4. you overlook shepherd and you WILL lose

I was starting to wonder if we would be able to play with shepherd this year. Then they let Huffman beat them and I realized very little has changed! Until they beat Coldspring, Shepherd is still playing for second! Ain't sceerd!! Just because Coldspring lost to a 5a school and the #1 4A team in the state doesn't mean Shepherd is ready for them. Big difference between Navasota and Shepherd.

  6. Ups and FedEx actually take packages and charge customers, then send the package by USPS. They make money off the package by shipping with the postal service.

Also, do you know any other enterprise that if you go to them to pick up your mail, you have to pay a yearly fee, but if they bring it to you it is free? If they charged $5 a year to have mail delivered to your mailbox, I bet they would be out of the negative.
  7. It is sad that we have come to the point in our country that political correctness is valued over free speech. We have become a society of whiners and cry babies. Certain topics can't even be discussed without someone crying about what was said. It is polite to watch what you say and try not hurt someone else's feelings, but it is almost impossible to not offend someone no matter what you do.
Either way, like it or not athletes are scrutinized for their behavior on and off the field. If you want to be successful and go to the next level, you have to be careful what you say and do. That is the reality we live in.
  8. From what Morrison told me when he first started hanging around in Diboll, there is a lot of offseason and weight room work needed before they get competitive. It may be a couple years before much difference is seen in the games. Can't build strength over night. It takes a couple years of hard work to get the whole team up to the level they need to be at.
