  1. The 2nd week of June isn’t an ideal time to start a search for two head coaches. Hopefully they can come up with some quality candidates but it’s a little late in the game
  2. Coach Jack did a good job with the girls in Warren. His resume speaks for its self. In all honesty though he seems to like to move around pretty often. He’ll be on the bench somewhere next year and will be successful wherever that happens to be.
  3. I don’t think anyone would make this move for $$$$$ 😂
  4. Very good young Coach who has had the opportunity to learn from some really great coaches. I hope to see him back on the hardwood someday. I wish Coach Wilson nothing but the best. If there’s a better place to be on a staff than HJ I haven’t seen it.
  5. Yes sir I was talking about football coaches. I can think of 3 right off the top of my head. Coach Ramsey who went to the staff at WOS , Coach Barbay who still is an OC at the collegiate level and the young guy who left to be the AD/HC at Lumberton. I don’t know any of their career records at Warren but all 3 are pretty solid football coaches. I think their success after leaving Warren would back that up. I believe TJ was the only one to make the playoffs in Warren .
  6. Who? I’m not sure I follow your question. Do you want solid coaches that have been in Warren or successful schools that don’t play football and attach the AD tag to other sports ?
  7. The schools I mentioned have been successful in the other sports. Warren has had some solid coaches over the years. It ain’t the HC in my opinion.
  8. I’m a big Josh Mitchell fan. Been watching him as a player and coach for years. He’s done a tremendous job in Lumberton but I don’t think the Raiders would qualify as a dynasty 😂
  9. I certainly respect your opinion but we’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. For a 3A school Warrens football crowds are marginal at best. With our demographics , lack of industry and no public housing we’re going to have a hard time attracting the numbers of athletes it takes to be successful in football at the 3A level. Just by numbers alone it doesn’t take as many athletes to compete in basketball and baseball. I wish Warren nothing but the best in their search for a new AD/HC in football by I honestly don’t think the lack of coaching abilities has been the reason for our dismal showing on the field.
  10. I think if Warren would consider giving the AD job to a top notch basketball or baseball coach the overall success of the athletic programs could improve. I have seen Warren field excellent baseball and softball teams in the not so distant past. They also put some solid basketball teams on the hardwood a few years back under Leland Hand and Chris Carter. I’m just throwing a suggestion out there. Everyone always says hire a AD/HC in football and it may be time to rethink those hires.
  11. It may be time for Warren to look at the Athletic programs at Central, Central Heights and Lufkin Hudson. An AD/ Head Basketball or Baseball coach may make for a more successful athletic program overall.
  12. I don’t know the Superintendent or the AD that’s leaving. I do know half of the board who are the kinda people who you would want working for your kids whether it was youth sports or checkers. Warren has had some excellent AD/HC over the years that were average on the record books at Warren . One went to the staff at WOS I believe as the QB coach and helped the Mustangs win a State title or two. Another was dismissed and within a few days was on a staff in the NFL. There are more over the years who didn’t win at Warren. All these guys could coach. I haven’t been to many Warren athletic events over the last few years but I gotta say last year I went to check out a Varsity Basketball game. I was amazed to see the AD on the bench as an assistant coach . Maybe the AD got tired of wearing that hat . I don’t think you can blame Warrens lackluster record the last 6 years on the AD and I don’t think the school board sits around a coffee shop conspiring to run off a current or past coach. I think the parents and kids at Warren aren’t willing to put in the work in takes to be successful year in and year out. Until they decide to do that work Nick Sabin or Dabo Swinney couldn’t win there.
  13. I’ve never been in a situation to have input on the hiring or dismissal of an AD. I have on several occasions many years ago, seen them evaluated for several reasons by a campus principal. These were not matters of discipline or anything that would even warrant thoughts of dismissal but they started at the principals level. I may have needed a flowchart then, thank goodness I don’t anymore 😂
  14. A good club that year( lord it’s been a long time since we had a good one). I think they actually beat EC that year by 60+. I wish they would have pulled the dawgs off because EC has gotten revevenge for 31 years 🤦‍♂️😂😂
  15. Finally someone who knows the proper chain of command and what exactly the school board does and doesn’t do. Thanks for posting 88 I was about to bite my tongue off. Some of these folks listen to too much coffee conversation at the FOC SHOP 😂
  16. This isn’t true. In any high school system the pecking order for teachers and coaches including the AD starts with the principal.
  17. The last game of the season HF JV should have had their players back, all the varsity players were playing by then. The difference in that game was HJ was missing players also and playing some Freshman. HF had a pretty good JV but even with the best player on campus and the 3rd best in the area they lost 3 district games. I may be wrong but I think HJ and Huffman are going to be much better than you think are. It will be fun to watch that’s for sure.
  18. Not sure if you’re talking about this past season or if you’re talking about the Varsity HF club. I do know the games were nearly a month apart. HJ’s varsity won the 1st meeting by 28 and the last meeting by 3 after being up big and getting in foul trouble. The JV games were a mirror of the varsity with HJ winning the first meeting by 30 and the last by 3 after leading big. Just for informational purposes the JV was lead in scoring in the last game by a Freshman that hadn’t played a JV game all season. With the talent HJ has returning on the varsity and a JV that went 20-1 I think they are the early favorite in that district. I sure am ready to get the season started. I wish the new HF coach the best.
  19. May be a significant cut in pay to go to an assistant from a head job??
  20. I know HF had some key injuries that hurt them this year and for the last 2 years by their own admission the best player on campus was on the JV. That being said neither the varsity or the JV club competed for a district title. With the returning players at HH and at HJ an outright district title is going to be hard for anyone in the top 3 to obtain. With Silsbee’s Freshman getting another year under his belt they have to be the regional favorite in my eyes. But at least this makes for good off season chatter😂
  21. That may be the understatement of the year. I’ve never seen a successful program that just won over “ a few key players “. A little more realistic goal would be an outright district championship. I hope Coach Kennebrew has em playing well. The district is a lot more fun when they do.
  22. I haven’t looked at the UIL bracket but If it plays out like it has in the past I think HF would meet Silsbee or Yates pretty early in the playoffs. I think they still finish 2nd or 3rd .
  23. Very well deserved honor. I had the misfortune of being on a team in Huntington’s district the year they won state. We had a solid team but they were next level good.
  24. Gotta be clear on my point. I know nothing at all about the new coach. I do know there were some great basketball guys in the mix. I wish the kids and the coach the best.
