  1. It has everything to do with a different time/different place. In years past where you didn’t take 4 teams to the playoffs a good runner up team stayed home. Now days a very average team can make “playoff history “ when in fact there might have been better clubs in “school history “ that didn’t make the “playoffs “.
  2. History is being watered down. In the days of UIL making money the driving factor it’s not uncommon for a average or in some case well below average team to “ make the playoffs “. A team such as BC that can get hot from behind the arc and can get hot and beat ya. I’m not ready to call that historic from an accomplishment stand point. Call me old school but I prefer the days when the district champion made the playoffs and everyone else went to the diamond.
  3. HF has a post player that’s a pretty solid player. He was injured midway through the season and looked like he was a little out of shape in the last two games against Huffman and HJ. If the Tigers take him away I don’t think the HF guards shoot it well enough to beat the Tigers
  4. So now winning a 1st round playoff game is making history?? Lord we have started getting way to loose with the making history stuff. I’m not sure why but at every level of sports we see teams get complacent early in the playoffs. Usually if they are lucky enough to pull out those early playoff victories You see see them play much better as the competition gets tougher. That didn’t happen this time. Bridge City was down by 16 in the second half and refused to quit. You gotta respect that as a fan of the game. Both clubs had a great fan base yesterday and the atmosphere was what makes high school basketball the best ticket in town.
  5. I think many years ago they lost to Jasper early in the playoffs but I’m just going on memory
  6. The Hawks just struggled with consistency almost all season. Credit Bridge City today for making some defensive adjustments and taking the inside game away in the second half. The game came down to free throws in the 4th quarter, the cardinals hit theirs and the Hawks didn’t.
  7. Sears. Arguably their best player.
  8. The difference in this one was missed opportunities from the line.
  9. BC scores 2 in the 2nd quarter at HJ scores 3 in the 4th.
  10. HJ scores 3 in the 4th with 38 second left can’t make a ft
  11. BC 51 HJ 49 less than a minute left. TO HJ
  12. HJ post man fouls out 1:08 left
  13. Double and Triple teaming the post now. HJ 46. BC 42 6:35 left
  14. HJ 46 BC 38 end of 3rd
  15. BC has no answer for the post play.
  16. Tempo improved considerably
  17. BC scores 2 in the second quarter. HJ 34 BC 20 halftime
  18. The big kid was on the JV last year, he is their best player. They struggled big time on the perimeter against Huffman and HJ
  19. I think HF strength is the big kids that play down low. Their guard play IMO is their weakness.
  20. You are drinking the kool aid. Silsbee plays their game they win this one by 10
  21. Yes sir
