1. This one wasn't pretty.I believe this was the smallest crowd I've ever seen at a high school basketball game.Warren looks to be playing with mostly freshmen and sophomores.Didn't see #33 tonight for the Bucs  ???
2. Bleed I shouldn't have grouped them all.Every situation is different. Some of the out of state schools are so expensive that even with some help it's cheaper to go in state.I'm definitely glad I planned to send mine.
3. Woodville has had several teams better than this club in the last 6-8 years. The district Woodville is playing in this year is down after Newton graduated everyone.I haven't looked at the UIL bracket but I don't see the Eagles in Tyler.
4. Reggie Wayne was a no show.He broke off the route on the pick 6 and dropped the sure touchdown.
5. What about Bullard.I saw them at the HJ tourney .They were fresh out of football and played Kountze pretty close until their PG fouled out.Have you heard anything else about them ?

7. I haven't looked at the UIL bracket so who does the 21-3a runnerup get in the opening round ? I had a friend who called the Cleveland club last week and he tells me they are looking solid. Will Silsbee or HJ get them early or can we look for it in the regional tourney. The rain is moving FAST probably will be thru Beaumont by 8 pm.
8. You see lots of kids on signing day going to D3 or Juco schools where the so called scholarships won't hardly pay for books.I was fortunate enough to have 2 boys, one that got several looks from different schools on the hardwood and one that was valedictorian. The academic scholarship was a lot more money. The kids that just sign to play often come home pretty quick if they aren't happy with their surroundings. Those of you that have young kids, put some money back because the cost is staggering.
9. The guy setting on the end of the Lady Eagles bench has won 600 games. That doesn't happen by accident.
10. Against Silsbee the HJ club had several turnovers on back door cuts right at the basket. These are normally sure buckets and are the kind that cost you a ballgame.I'll be supporting any of the local clubs that make it as well no-look so that may be 2 strikes against them.
11. I'm not sure EC would take another Evadale kid.I have never believed in kids changing schools to play ball. The UIL usually heads that type stuff off but even when they don't it usually ends bad for both parties.
12. That was my point as you get deeper in to the playoffs the better teams will convert. That's where you get in trouble. The Silsbee/HJ game last week was a 50-41 ballgame and in those type games the TO numbers are huge.
13. I've seen just about all of them and you're right, there isn't anyone close this year.
14. Unless you have a Ryan Donahoe or a Tramain Thomas, they could both beat it off the dribble. Not many can though.
15. It was definitely a tough place to play.My kids all graduated before they moved to new digs but the games I've seen there haven't been quite as intense.
16. What concerned me in the HJ/Silsbee game was the type of turnovers. The crowd was intense but a lot of turnovers came on back door cuts and careless long court passes.I think Cleveland,Navasota and even Bullard will be hard to beat with that type turnover.Bullard had a PG that is going to be hard to pressure if they are still in the hunt.Kountze turned it over against EC without hardly any pressure. I think all 3 clubs have a great shot at the drum but I think after the second round they have to have less 20 turnovers to win.For last years Tigers Shannon was a great turnover neutralizer.
17. You can usually win with 15 but it's unusual to turn it over 20 and still get the "W" in the playoffs.Probably won't see many stifling BC type defenses in the playoffs  ;D ;D
18. That was it.All the inbounding team had to do was get the ball in and the game was over. The air went out of their crowd where I was sitting.I felt sorry for the parents in that section.
19. Yea that was my bad I didn't catch it until the thread was locked.
20. The latter would get my vote.It was unreal. Also the 1-a first round state playoff game at the drum in 2007.I'll have to look at my program to get the teams but a inbound pass at midcourt was stolen and a layup made at the buzzer for a 1 point win.You talking about the full range of emotions. It was unreal.
21. OK guys the board has been way to quiet.I have finally recovered from AAW and Lazeek questioning my basketball knowledge on last weeks show so heres the question. Can Slisbee,HJ and Kountze advance to the drum at the rate they have been turning the ball over?Silsbee and HJ both turned it over tons in there showdown and Kountze had 38 against Anahuac and well over 20 at EC friday. We all know playoff basketball is a different animal.I don't think you get past the second round if you turn it over more than 18-20 times. What do yall think???
22. I gotta check my computer closer,I had a couple of picks that didn't bold up or I might have at least been respectable  ;D ;D
23. TrueBlue everyone has a right to their opinion but I can assure you the Kountze club will be very good again next year. It's alot more about the system than the individual.I carried teams down there and played for years and every year they had someone to replace. When CJ and Powell graduated everyone thought they would be down and Walker and Brey stepped in to the spotlight.Let me remind you they still won the district when Brey was gone and Roman was hurt. They stay in the gym in the summer and it's a very well run league with Silsbee all the better local clubs always there. The little guy that is lightnin up the long ball was a non factor up until this year and he will be a force next year.Call Duane after the season and join his league and you'll start to understand.Bucs2010 has posted on here for years and always supported EC but he has seen this rivalry at its best and its not anywhere close to what it used to be.
24. Duane would do a great job at one of the Beaumont schools but to be honest it probably wouldn't be much better of a job.I guess I look at the game different,if the majority of your points are scored by Jrs and you still get beat by 25+ that's still a whipping. The 2 guards did a pretty good job last night but I didn't see anything that would make me pick EC next year.I've watched Brey thru the years in summer leagues, aau and school ball and #33 for EC has as bad an attitude as he has ever had.Walker and Brey both had tough games last night and the lions had 5 in double figures. It will be a different 5 next year.Kountze will be the favorite once again.
25.

And I watched Kountze Jv play last night and I dont see anything comming up So unless they get another Calf. move in I dont see them being anywere close to the top in Dist next year.
hey, whsalum, save this post and post it again this time next year.  Trublue just doesn't get it.
It's plain to see he hasn't made many trips to the Lions den.Duane will watch all summer and he will have them playing at another level next year.
