1.
Andrews will get it right...props to kevin carr tonight.
Green and Carrington looked pretty good tonight at times.Kountze wants you to try and run with them, they will make you look bad when you do that.
2. EC has had a top notch coaching staff for years. They had a couple of kids that have improved since I saw them earlier in the season. They hustled and got lots of hustle points tonight.Kountze is probably closer to 40 points better than anyone else in the district this year. They got production from everyone tonight. They will need Roman on the floor though thru the playoffs or they may be in trouble against the better clubs.
3.
Kountze may be without a starter tomorrow night.... I hope for some that certain players better have a big game tomorrow night or crow will once again be served. When then bright lights come on, let's see if the good players show up.
That's how you judge GOOD players. They do show up in big games.
4. There seems to be a misconception on here about the power a school board member has in hiring a coach.Actually it's not as much as some of you think.A really good coach can turn a program in the right direction but ultimately it's up to the kids to get in the gym and put in the work to be successful.
5.
Just out of curiosity how many D1 Athletes have come out of HF in all sports in the last 10 years?  Not that many.  I am a coach and people don't realize how talented you have to be in order to get an athletic scholarship.  I can think of 3 or 4, and D2, D3, and Junior colleges don't count. What people don't understand is at the 3A level it sometimes takes more than being the District MVP or making it to the state meet in a particular sport in order to get an athletic scholarship.
The only thing I disagree with in this statement is D2,D3 and JUCO don't count. You have to be a great player at the 3-a level to even get a look at these colleges. The only basketball player I can remember recently that even got a D1 look was Donahoe from HJ and he was state MVP.

7. You've got to have the coaches involved to some degree for the little dribbler programs to be an issue.I have seen lots of good little dribbler, little league teams etc. that never matured in to good school clubs. One of the best little dribbler teams I ever saw was a young group in 2000 that played at Hull Daisetta. They were unreal and never saw them do anything on the school level.
8. Myself court.I'm gonna quit picking with my heart. This has been ugly lately.
9. Coaches can make a huge difference in a team ,no doubt about it but it's way to easy for them to get all the blame.I don't buy the weak schedule in HF'S case because they didn't beat a lot of these clubs.Playing tough competition makes you better but if you are getting beat by the cupcakes on your schedule it isn't gonna help you play tougher competition.Usually these coaches know more about the skill sets of these players than the parents do.No one wants to win worse than the coach.
10. The Sharks are like a roller coaster. You never know from game to game what level they are gonna play at which is unusual for a club with this many seniors. This was a good win for them but the pirates should still be a big favorite. No one should call Spurger a pretender, they were 1 game away from the drum 2 years ago and 1 game away from the regional tournament last year. The young guy coaching them will have them motivated from here on out.
11. The Lions wwill have to get a handle on the turnovers. You can't beat good teams with 38 turnovers, that's just way to many possessions to give away and expect to win.
12. It would all depend on what level college program you are talking about. There are several that could coach in the D-3 ranks. To coach in the mid major and major D1 conferences you really have to be a student of te game.It would be tough to do right out of high school. But then again that's all they have to worry about in the college ranks.
13. With the 2a D1 reclassification and the local 8 team district you are going to have some really good teams staying at home.Someone out of the Newton,EC,Woodville,Anahuac,Buna is really gonna get hosed. This is an awful idea.
14. That hurt ;D My point was they couldn't win with 23 and 21 TO respectively not that they weren't capable of winning it.Glad I'm not doing standup, this is a tough room. ;D ;D

16. AAW, I saw some scoring and rebounding stats for last Fridays game that pitted Silsbee vs HJ but never saw anything about turnovers or free throw percentage.I noticed a lot of folks that seem to think the win gives the Tigers a shot at a state playoff berth.I've gone to a ton of regional tournaments and state tournaments and I don't think either club will win the region with the turnovers and poor ft shooting they had alst week. What do you think and more importantly what did Travis and Todd think about the performance?
17. I've watched Carrington for years and the injury is what is hampering him this year.He isn't the player he has been in the past.I haven't looked at the UIL bracket yet but I don't see EC going very deep in the playoffs. They will beat the clubs from the prep district toward Houston but that's probably about it.There is nothing wrong with supporting your team but Kountze is gonna be a real challenge to hold it within 30.
18. He wasn't a bad player but he wasn't in the same league as the players on this list.He would make a big difference in this years club if he was healthy.
19. There isn't a player on the EC squad that would even get on the floor with that group.Thomas,Joseph,Guillory and McDonald were legitamate state contenders who had the misfortune of being in the same district with the best team in the state. Please don't make those comparisons,Tramain was the type player who could neutralize the press by himself.
20. Kountze is just 25 points better than everyone else in this district this year.Hats off to EC because Anahuac is always a tough place to play.Just curious did the panthers lose any players to grades ?? I didn't see them losing this one at home.I gotta disagree with Eagle2010,I think Woodville would have to play one of ther better games to beat several of the teams in 23aa.
21.
Just a quick stat, Silsbee post man Kendrick Jones has 12 points, 22 rebounds, 4 block shots, and 1 alley oop!! D.C. Stallworth had 16 Prentice Lane had 14. Silsbee outrebounded HJ 47-26!
Now theres a huge game !!!!!
22.
I heard Travis Williams and staff out coached the Hawkettes staff tonight. I heard they made great half time adjustments when the best staff in America didn't. I heard earlier that Hj staff could take your starting 5 and beat you. Lmao. who said that. Who dat said them Tiger can't be dem Hawks. Lmao lmao Lmao
That would have been my quote there swag and I'll stand by it.No disrespect intended to the HJ club but when you watch these teams whether it be Silsbee or Kountze you immediately get the impression that HJ shouldn't be in the same category. But they cosistantly play at the same level with these top notch programs. That's a direct reflection on the coaching staff.Don't sleep on the Hawks, they will be fine as long as Ricossa keeps coming back from the knee.I thought his season was over when he went down and he still isn't back to where he was before he was hurt.
23. I usually don't make the JV games but last night I knew I would have to get there early or park in Evadale, which I had to do anyway.
24.
Clay got some T-love tonight!!!!!  ;D
I knew he was in trouble when he went by the player trying to calm him down. After watching the JV game I believe the rivalry is alive and well for awhle. Not many JV games I've been to with that kind of atmosphere.
25. I thought #32 for the Tigers was the differnce in the ball game.Every time the Hawks would start a little run he would come up huge.Rebounding and free throw shooting spelled the difference tonight.
