1. This will be a classic.Silsbee wins it by 4. Silsbee-86 Kountze-82
2. HJ wins this one by 20. HJ -80 Tarkington -60 The 2 guys that got suspended know what was coming  ;D ;D
3. I can tell you from expeience training hasn't been the issue.Up until this year Mike Simpson has been the training official and he is not only a great official but an even better teacher. You are taught as an official to get off the floor quickly after the horn. The first game I ever called I retrieved the ball after the final missed shot,my mentor,Tom Settle, gave me a clear message .Nothing good happens after the final horn to an official. The lead official in this ballgame is very good official.I texted my sister 1 minute into this game and told her 2 of these guys were in over there head.Believe it or not officials have bad games just like players and they are the first to know it.
4. I'll be there backing the Pirates.I think the game will be real close with depth being the deciding factor with the phsical play.Spurger has the better skill players but Newton will be deeper. Newton-60 Spurger-57 Good luck to both clubs in the playoffs. I sure would have liked to see a Spurger/Woodville matchup,it would have been a gem.
5.
The dry spell that Silsbee went through in the 4th was what killed them. They went scoreless from the 7 minute mark to the 3:15 mark. That 3:45  going scoreless was very costly. HJ went on a 10-0 run during that span.
That's where I said Travis probably wishes he had used a timeout and settled them down a little.
6. When both teams attack the basket and play pressure defense the foul count is gonna be big,as long as it's big on both sides the players and coaches have to adjust.Silsbee has a ton of talent but probably need to post Stallworth up a little more when the games are at a crucial point. He seems to have a pretty calm demeanor when some of those around him are losing it.This was a fun game to watch and the atmosphere was unreal.
7. Gotta agree with ya about the young guy from Spurger he is gonna be a good one.
8. The foul count was pretty even and as whistle happy as it was it was consistant. They blew it on both ends all night. The turning point in this game came on a 5 point swing Ricossa had in the second half.Silsbee had been in control until then, if Travis had it to do over he probably calls a time out there and settles his kids down. This was not an easy balgame to call in the officials defense.Every player pushed it to the edge on every possessions.I gotta say #32 for the Tigers is as good a player as I've seen all year.
9. Good ballgame from a fans perspective.Game was called pretty even but lots of whistles on both sides. It was almost like the officials were trying to hard. You could see the potential for an upset here for miles.
10. I don't know why the UIL puts these schools in these 2-a districts. If they want them to play in a UIL district they need to spread them out in existing districts. This makes a joke out of the playoffs.
11. It will be hard to beat HJ after a tough loss at WOS. This is a trap game for the Tigers if I've ever seen one.The Hawks success from here on out will depend on how Ricossas knee holds up.I'll take HJ at home by 4.

13. Very good showing Ladys ,congrats on a fine season.
14. Now I'm confused. They are a better team than the one that played last night?? They are the team that played last night. I haven't looked at a UIL bracket but I don't see the Eagles going real deep. They will have there hands full with Anahuac or EC and neither of those clubs are regional type clubs this year.
15. My post wasn't intended to disrepect Woodville. There is nothing wrong with being a great athlete that plays basketball I have probably seen this age group from Woodville play alot more over the years than I have EC. Newton is a perfect example of great athletes in the past few years that played basketball. These type clubs will win a lot of games but usually won't win to deep into the playoffs. There are alot of teams around that wish they had great athletes.
16. Great to see kids get recognition for all parts of the game. Most of the talk is about scoring but there is an art to shot blocking and it also takes a ton of hard work and heart.Congrats Avory
17. Woodville has some great athletes that play basketball. They aren't really basketball players but they can out athlete some folks but it can catch up with them sometimes.
18. If they get good play from the PG position they won't lose another one this year.
19. I almost picked that upset Woodville isn't quite as strong as some think.
20. Not as the coach. He will stay on as principle. He has young kids in another district.I hope he gets back in it eventually,he is a pretty good coach when he has some pieces to work with.
21. That pretty well sums up Warrens season. They are playing mostly freshmen ans sophomores so maybe the scars will heal.

23.
The guy sitting on the edge of the EC bench they announced the other night has won over 800 games was it? Also hold more than one state 2A record. I wouldn't be too over confident Woodville, this EC team is good and has an excellent well respected coach as well.
I wasn't downing coach Penny,he does a great job.I was responding to the Woodville guy who said the Lady Eagles would not be good next year. The Woodville coach will have them playing well.I can't believe there are still folks who don't think coaches make a difference.
24. If Janet isn't the coach of the year this year they need to quit giving it.The way she brought a young club along while waiting on them to jell was impressive to say the least.
