1.
I Love History ;D  and History shows that BH owns Nederland ;D Go get'em GCM ;) [If Nederland got goosed it would be on your hands ;D/quote]
2. I predict I will be upset if GCM beats Nederland
3. If your qb can't or doesn't run the ball out of the spread you lose the added dimension and the very thing that makes the spread a viable offense for some teams. The spread is going to expose the qb to more contact wheather he runs the footbal or not. Dayton had nearly as many qb injuries as Ned suffered 6 or 8 years ago because of their qb carrying the ball out of the spread. I remember Jerry Stewart saying in an interview something about playing quarterback at Dayton was the most dangerous job in football. Dayton still uses the spread and turns the qb loose pretty successfully. Unless you use the spread as a situational formation for passing the ball when needed, and you don't use the quarterback as a runner, imo you are best served to abondon it as an every down style offense. Quarterbacks are still football players and can be taught to run behind their pads like other skill players and to get down or out of bounds to avoid contact and injury. I think Nederland should turn Raines loose to run and believe you will see a much more dynamic and potent offense along with keeping opposing defenses honest.
4. I expect there will be a bunch of kicked balls in this game. Most will probably belong to BH players.
5. Whatever reasons we give for Neds performance won't do it justice. We were bad on offense and real bad on our heralded defense. The Crosby players sitting behind me didn't seem to have much fear on their faces. We got a beat down in every phase of the scrimmage and some may think it's no big deal and just a scrimmage. If I didn't see it I wouldn't have believed it. There better be some serious work in practice for Ned or next week will be ugly in favor of Crosby. After all the hype maybe someone should realize we are getting out played and out coached to the extreme. I wouldn't say this if it weren't true but we sucked and it might not be easy to fix.
6. In 1 week 1 day and 22 hours week 0 will be here. Who are the marquee matchups? I'm going with Crosby at Nederland. Two playoff teams from last year (and many times before) both 4 A. What game is your preference.
7. These people should move to Beaumont and become electricians. Well.................never mind.
8. C.O. Wilson had a coaching change. Thats good news for opposition cause Jack Lynch has retired. Now for the bad news. Cody Sheppard took the head job over there. He was the Ned freshman head coach and his six year record was 56 wins 4 losses. I coached that guy as a seventh grader and he was the most astute student of the game I've known. A top notch individual and a very good football coach. I am very proud of the man!
9.
No playoffs for Barbie of 12 all-dist=2 on offense are returning 2012 @the Ant Hill gonna be B---H ;D LMAO ouch. You guys out west are harsh. Sounds a lot like my office. ;D
10. True. BTW I am from Nederland. Just stirring the pot a little. The 20 4A vs the 19 4A thing. Just happy we have some football to haggle about. ;)

Crosby gets hammered by Vidor in bi-district last year, loses most of their offense line to graduation, then is gonna go to Nederland and beat what looks to be the best Ned team in years  (that returns 16 starters)  by a bunch of points.
Who said this and when? Since every poll has Nederland winning their district and only about half have Crosby even making the playoffs in their district - everyone knows who the clear favorite is. Nederland is ranked as high as 9th in some state polls, including 12th in the AP poll. Crosby is obviously unranked. Crosby is running a new offense and has pretty much an entirely new coaching staff. Plus, this Week 0 game is on the grass at Nederland with a Beaumont crew. Big advantage Nederland.
:)
I think Crosby's new fast paced, high octane offense will put up at least 28 the first half.  This forces Ned out of their offensive style and makes them throw the ball more than they are comfortable with and after a few 3 and outs or turnovers, Crosby really starts to run it up. Crosby 49, Nederland 28
12. We could really have some fun with JEFFERSON COUNTY and Ford Park.
13. What's a couple million dollars to the all knowing BISD school board? Probably the cost of rewiring a desk lamp.
14. Wow. Crosby gets hammered by Vidor in bi-district last year, loses most of their offense line to graduation, then is gonna go to Nederland and beat what looks to be the best Ned team in years  (that returns 16 starters)  by a bunch of points. Ned may as well stay in the locker room to avoid the embarrassment. I want to sell my tickets for half price.
15. Scrimmages are kinda like football only not as good
16. Yep I am wrong. Loving county is the richest per capita, Only 89 people in that one. Carthage is in Panola County but they really do have lots of money per capita in Panola. Someone does to pay that much for a scoreboard. Irrelevant facts but I have lots of those :)
17. I could be mistaken but think a cousin in Carthage told me that county the richest in the state per capita.
18. Ned put the ball on the ground several times. Wasn't fumbled snaps I don't think. Looked like bad exchanges from qb to rb and fumbles in traffic. Coulda been the contact.
19. Both defenses played well. Ned gave up 2 big gains on passes. They looked to be seam routes or deep slants and well executed. Lotsa speed and pretty good execution by WO-S. Ned played tough run defense as did WO-S but Ned somewhat better. Ned has a couple or three running backs that are very solid. The passing game for Ned wasn't clicking but will get lots better with reps. Raines threw some good balls that were dropped and one resulted in a defensive td for WO-S. Raines also seemed a little tentative on some throws and was aiming the ball. That will improve with reps. The o-line for ned was being shuffled and should be good with the right mix. I'm personally not fond of the lateral passing game. Ned receivers are sometimes split more than 20 yds from the center. I don't presume to coach that team but if those splits were 5 yards tighter the ball would reach the receiver lots faster. As a comparison that is the same distance difference  as a little league pitching mound and a high school mound in baseball. You need a huge arm to make that wide throw with velocity. I just prefer a vertical passing game. I know the objective is to get the ball in space but realistically I think Ned had positive yards on one or two of those wide patterns out of quite a few tries. WO-S is a little farther along with their offense at this time. Another thing to bear in mind is that defense always is ahead of offense early in the season. It just comes more natural to read and react versus offensive execution that depends on timing. Just my personal observations. I believe these will develop into two very good teams and make some noise. Seen better football early in the year but have normally seen lots worse. Good luck to both.
20. I watched the replay on the Ned/Bay City game and the play in question many times. In real time I swore Ned got porked and Joe Ramoin was in the end zone. I didn't have a good angle on the play and he looked like he scored. When I watched the video in slo-mo from a camera on the goal line Ramoins' knee touched with the ball just inches short of the goal line. On the next play from the 6 inch line the call was 30 base, a dive play right to the zero hole. The Bay City defense was a nine man front stacked in the middle to stop the qb sneak. A linebacker jumped the snap count, dove over the center and stuffed the play in the backfield as time expired. A run at any other hole would probably have been a gut cinch score. Ned would have probably won in OT because they had a great kicker. The suspect calls to me in that game by officials were a TD called back on a late holding flag and a field goal called back on a late proceedure call. Ned held Bay City to less than 100 yards of offense that game. The Cats went on to blow out the next two games to win the D1 title. The pass at WO-S that was called a lateral was a blown call. When Hooks was asked about it he smiled and said "Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you" He was also yelling lateral before the ball ever hit the ground. He was a master at working officials. WO-S and Ned had great teams that year and nearly won D1 and D2 titles the same year.
21. NEDERLAND LOST 7-0 TO BAY CITY IN 2000 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (STATE QUARTERFINALS). LOST TO SMITHSON VALLEY IN SEMI FINAL IN 2001. 2012 WILL PROBABLY THE BEST DEFENSIVE TEAM FOR NED. SINCE THOSE YEARS. AT #17 PROBABLY NOT OVERRATED. NON DISTRICT RESULTS SHOULD HELP CLARIFY THAT. THIRD GAME OF THE SEASON WILL BE AT #10 ANGLETON. 20-4A IS ALWAYS A TOUGH DISTRICT AND ALL 4A TEAMS HAVE DEPTH ISSUES. NOTHING IS SET IN STONE BUT AT LEAST 4 TEAMS IN 20-4A WILL BE COMPETETIVE. LOOK FOR SOME WARS IN THAT DISTRICT.
