I believe this game will come down to penalties, special teams, injuries, (really hope not), and the other intangibles. Both teams are 9-1 for a reason. I'm a Nederland homer and have to give them a slight edge. No way is Dayton a bad team for losing to Summer Creek. That game meant nothing compared to the one Saturday. We've all seen good teams blown out in one of those crazy games when the wheeles fly off. Ned is peaking and will come to play. Dayton will come in ready. This should be a really good ball game. A week ago it would have been the #3 team  vs. the #6 team (in the AP poll).

This will be a good game. The intangibles will be the difference. I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

Now that playoff time is here we have to decide how to best spend our leisure time. I have been hunting a huge old buck deer for a few years now and last Friday had to make a monumental decision. I had a feeling that big deer would be out cruising around for girl deer but Ned was playing for a district championship vs. Bmt. Central. It was gut wrenching. My Dad is 85 and we don't miss many games. He is probably in a small handful of fans his age still able to go see them. It ended up a no brainer decision. We went to that game and saw the kids win. Up in the woods Saturday morning a guy hunting near my honey hole nearly fainted when a huge buck chased a doe by him but recovered enough to make the shot. The deer is a typical 14 pt. that green scored 190+ B & C points. My buddy told me the deer came from the direction I hunt and maybe had I been there I could have shot that deer. I think about that and feel a very little remorse because the smile on my Dad's face after that game was priceless. No deer that has ever walked the earth could equal that smile. The great thing about the story is that I know there will always be big deer and that will last forever. So will the mental image after that ball game. Can't say that about loved ones. I certainly made a good decision. :)

Sounds right. By down years I didn't mean to diss Dayton. Just that Ned had been going about three rounds deep in the playoffs and don't think we did in those years. I do remember Dayton being loaded those two years. It should be a really good game. Looking forward to it.

Stewart and Neumann came on the scene in Dayton and Nederland about the same time. They played a number of times.I believe Ned was ahead in the series till Dayton spent 2 years in 20-4A. Ned had a couple of down years and Dayton won those two games. I believe Dayton has a one game edge on the series in the last 17 or so years. Don't remember how many times they've played over that span. If my memory is correct Ned has a chance to even the series again saturday. If anyone else can dig out this stuff that would be cool. Maybe Lil Tex will know.

It's a conspiracy. Kennedy, Bigfoot, UFO's and Dayton football. At least I believe in three out of four.

Dayton tanked the game against SC. Saving the whoopin for Ned. No way the #4 legitimately lost that game.  ::) ;D

Never trim your nails during the week of a game. Only on Saturday if the game is Friday night and only on Sunday if the game is Saturday. Dispose of the clippings where only you know where they went. It's best to bury them in a small hole.

Looks like Ned will get about half the varsity starters back next year. The younger guys should move up to varsity and fill some big shoes.

Any word on who starts at fullback for Nederland?

It seems like somewhere in that part of the world is the all time winningest HS coach. He has like over 600 wins, was in his eighties and still coaching last I heard. If you won 10 games a year on average it would take sixty years to accomplish. Amazing.
