    Four reasons coaches leave:
    1. Money
    2. Adminisrtation
    3. Talent (well run dry)
    4. Community Support (lack there of/too much griping or complaining)

Are you guys seriously talking about Dan Hooks becoming the HC at Bridge City? 80 year old Coach Hooks?

BC isn’t a football town. The kids, PARENTS, and community aren’t willing to do what it takes to have a winning program. I mean, they wouldn’t mind winning... unless it meant getting sweaty.
Coach Dubois is, in my opinion, easily one of the top ten “x &o”coaches in the area, and the absolute best leader of young men. BC will not likely see another coach of his caliber in our future.
Band parents didn’t like that he had the band  removed from the sidelines during the actual games... so they complained. There were too many “why don’t they throw the ball more... we’ve already ran that play five times” from Day One. Ummm... because BC isn’t a qb factory. Year before last we beat teams with multiple D1 recruits with a bunch of kids that had one kid move one to play at a D2 school. One. That’s coaching.
A lot of heat came up last year when one of the star players was injured in practice. The parents were very vocal in blaming Coach Dubois for that injury... plenty of others were quick to join in.
I’d have gone back to HJ, too

I agree BC and HJ isn’t very high paying jobs. I think CB has the insight it was probably the parents/fans. to be honest they had a lot of injuries last year. I think this is a very bad deal for BC

Good for Coach Dubois... he’s a fine man.
With the realignment and fine tradition of sucking I think we’ll have a hard time attracting any serious names for  HC.
I hope that all of the Cardinal fans who were vocally unhappy with Coach Dubois are happy now.

I can't agree more with the comments about the parents involvement. I remember back in the beginning of the season it was pouring down raining and one of the news outlets on Facebook had a pic of the WOS players running stands. There were so many comments about how the coaches were stupid and and endangering the kids.I bet not one of those comments were from a parent of the Mustang players... I've witnessed first hand coaching little league football. Watching a game before ours at Wos, parents were angry at their own kids for not doing what was expected and they are held accountable for it. It is the polar opposite in BC, in my experience. Coaches are idiots, run the boys too much, don't have little johnny in the right position etc etc.  That also trickles down to kids. You would be amazed to hear 11, and 12 year olds talk about how coaches are stupid and don't know what they are doing. Now where do they hear that from?

I thought that kid transferred in....
On the other hand, a fellow Alabama signee from Beaumont didn't collect any state football championships (or even make the playoffs), so I guess you'd have to say that it takes more than athletes to get to Jerryworld.
But I do believe that Coach Thompson could take his entire staff to High Island and win big after 5-6 years, IF the parents and kids would allow him to do his thing.
I'll be a jerk here just because... Coach Thompson would fail miserably at BC.  You can say it's a lack of "athletes" but that's not entirely true.  We have our share of speed and size, maybe not at consistently as WOS, but so much of WOS's size isn't just occurring.  It's an off-season program that builds bigger, stronger athletes.  The problem is that parents and kids here in BC (and in a lot of other mediocre programs) aren't willing to do the work it takes to win consistently.  I've heard stories from WOS athletes who were like "What?  That's it?" after their first conditioning workouts in college.  I don't doubt it.  My guess is that IF either of those Alabama signees had gone to BC, they'd be about finished with their undergrad studies after an uneventful high school career and no scholarship offers.  That, my friends, has nothing to do with the fast-twitch or slow-twitch fibers of those particular athletes.
If all it took was a good group of athletes, I think Silsbee would have a collection of championship trophies by now, no offense.
It's both... you've got to have a decent group of athletes, cultivate them with great coaching and offseason programs (through all levels), and an elite coaching staff.

I believe it’s in the mid 30’s on players. But here is the kicker, we only had the same amount when I played and teams even before me and we were 2.5 times the size school they are now. WOS always carries a small roster on varsity for 2 reasons. 1. Only the best get to wear the Silver helmet unless you are a Senior(no little johnnie syndrome at WOS, parents stay out of it) 2. Many, and I mean Many players can’t take the grueling practices and off season and quit or transfer. WOS demands mental toughness just as much or more than physical toughness. Going back to #1....we were all groomed from when we were even 4 or 5 years old of what it would take to wear the flying WOS on our helmets. It was accepted by the parents and also the kids that understood the fraternity of being a Mustang football player.A.K.A., you knew what to expect 10 years before you even showed up in the stands for that first two a day practice as a Freshman. There is a sign in the fieldhouse that is there for a reason and the EXACT example of this....”Those who remain, will be champions” not just on the field, but in life also......From my personal experience, how many high schools make kickers actually practice with the defense and are thought the same way as a linebacker or DB? I only was able to practice my craft during the offensive period. That is why I had no issues tackling and loved to lay people out when I had the chance, and I did it multiple times in my 4 years there. I wore #18 because I was also a strong safety(even though I didn’t play that position, but could if needed) we were all coached the same no matter our “regular” position. WOS football is a mind set, a way of life, not just a slogan.....

Lumberton follows the rules by the way, as 99.9% of most coaches.  Talk about the teams talent, talk about game plans, talk about how these football programs are keeping your kids off the streets.....Keep it positive folks, if you want to get negative, go to the Political forum.....there are plenty of folks who will cry with you and complain how bad the world is.......on this page, we talk about the game!

You guys have to remember that personnel dictates what you can do offensively.  The slot T is a great offense for teams like BC, Vidor and Orangefield.  Why?  Because you are not going to "out-athlete" the West Orange Starks of the world.  Your best chance is ball control, keep it away from them and execute.  BC didn't do that tonight and probably can't.
But spreading the field brings speed as the key component and sorry, you lose there 100 times out of 100.  I know BC has a few kids who are relatively fast but you do not have anyone on the same planet as KJ Miller, Shaw, etc.  They simply made the opponents look like they were running with lead boots.
Sometimes your ceiling is simply being a playoff team.  And all you can do is your best.  Unless Steve Worster finds the fountain of youth, BC isn't going to be a deep playoff team in sports that don't involve a bat.  And that's not a slam on BC.  You guys are WAYYY ahead of where you were a couple of years ago.  And should continue to improve.  But let's not take a blowout against one of the best teams in the state and think you have to reinvent the wheel...

Yeah, that's what Coach T said on KOGT after the game. Didn't want to take the chance of something going bad, and kids getting suspended from the next game. It was the right call. They said couple kids from each team shook hands and hugged after the game. Sounded like it may have been a positive ending to a terrible couple days.

Well, that was a lot of fun.  The WOS fans were great tonight.  A lot of good positive energy in the stands tonight and we, along with some of our Porr Arthur friends, enjoyed the experience.
It was my first time to see the Mustangs tonight and they were as good as advertised.  Actually probably better.   As all have said, you are not going to beat (and really not even score) on that defense if you are not a serious threat to throw the ball.  BC's passing game isn't even a concern against a defense like theirs.  It was more likely to result in a turnover than a positive play.
The best defense I've seen in my lifetime at the HS level was the '83 Daingerfield team.   They were a 3A team (would be 4A now) but I believe they gave up 9 points the entire season.  I wouldn't put the Mustangs on that level just yet but they certainly have that "feel."  They are downright dominant at the line of scrimmage and from what I was able to see with limited reps, pretty darn good in the back as well.  It will be interesting to see how they fare against a spread-type offense.  I wish they saw more of that around here.
And a word to the wise (as Cardinal Backer said more eloquently) to future opponents, stay the heck off social media.  You don't try to grab a snake by the tail.  Silsbee spent the summer poking the bear so I have no doubt they have a little something coming.  The rest of the teams on the schedule would do well by learning from others' transgressions...

Post game thoughts... I knew that WOS is great this year, and we knew what we needed to do if we had any chance of winning. We obviously did not do those things. WOS's D is filthy, and the last thing we needed to do is kick over the hornet's nest. I'm a homer all of the way, but I have no problem with the way the game was played by WOS.
My hat is off to the young men from WOS.  Not only did they play a fantastic game, but they were very, VERY sportsmanlike in what could have been an ugly game. I can't overstate what a fine group of competitors that proved themselves to be. The postgame pleasantries between Coach Dubois and some of our players reaching out to the victim of this weeks racial hatred, and his receptiveness to their gestures was a great thing, I believe.
WOS's field goal game needs some work before they get deep into the playoffs.  Otherwise I don't see any weak spots.
We need to throw all of our cell phones into Cow Bayou and stay the hell off of social media.
We'll be a better team for having played a highly motivated WOS team.
I've got to reiterate what a fine group of young men are taking the field for WOS this year. Y'all should be proud. I'm glad I can go back to being a WOS fan after this disaster of a week and game.
