Misinformed? About what? Everything I said was true except about how I would feel if I was the Boykin kid. I’ll save my next long answer once you’ve told me what I’m misinformed about.

Sensitivity training begins tomorrow followed by getting our panties out of that uncomfortable knot!

I don't know if my opinions are necessarily popular opinion, and I like a lot of the things Coach Babin does. He's especially done a lot to get community involvement and to get a lot of kids playing football. BUT when you stated "A good coach puts his players in the best position to win. That’s what I believe Coach Babin is doing...", I had to stop and say something. So why in the world would Coach put Barthol (an excellent running back...) at the QB position after our starting QB, Boykin, was back from injury. Boykin is the same kid that came in as a snotty-nosed sophomore last year and helped the Raiders win a bi-district championship! And he's only gotten better and more experienced since last year! Ok, I got one better for you. Not only did he keep Barthol at QB, but he put Boykin at RB!!! Barthol can't throw (but Boykin can)...Barthol burns up 1500 to 2000 yards a game just going to the sidelines to get the plays from the coach cuz Barthol doesn't know the signals (like Boykin does)... Barthol let's the defense put 10 in the box with a free safety about 7 yards out for "just-in-case"... That's not fair to anyone on that offense - not even the line. The Boykin kid, a QB, can get some yards scrambling as a QB or with a keeper when he takes a direct snap, but he ain't real fast. Barthol is... Boykin is coming off an injury where running the ball and blocking is more apt to cause more injury. Simply put, Boykin is not a running back... Let's talk about morale and chemistry for a second. Let's say you're the QB (Boykin), and you get knocked out due to injury. Your replacement (Barthol) does a great job as QB (running, mind you, not throwing) against some teams that are not anywhere near in the same class of competition you'll be facing in district... Now you're better and able to return to play, but your head coach (Babin) tells you (through his actions) "Naw, I'm done with you for now - I got me a shiny new QB (RB) to fill your shoes." Even worse, to appease you, he decides he'll let you take a few snaps as a RB along with the other committee of 5 or 6 or 7 guys Lumberton has running the ball... If you're Boykin, how are you gonna feel? Thankful the coach was able to fit you in a little? No. Your gonna feel like he gave up on you. Then comes the irony. Your shiny new QB (RB) gets hurt and now you NEED Boykin to come out and save the day. Of course, he hasn't been getting many QB reps in practice and none in the game, and now when you're down in the count against a talented Silsbee team, you expect him to put his QB face on and win one for the Gipper. I don't know about him, but if I was that kid, I would have wanted to tell Coach to go to the sidelines and find someone else to clean up his filthy mess! There was no chemistry or synchronicity after that. The wheels came off the cart offensively. It was kind of disgusting... Maybe his intentions are pure, and he's trying to do the best thing for his Raiders that he can. None of us from the outside know the exact situation, especially if we don't have kids that play anymore. But if you're telling me that what I witnessed Friday night was an example of "A good coach puts his players in the best position to win..." then Houston, we have a problem. Question: Why don't we kick field goals and extra points? Answer: Cuz the kicker is hurt. Question: Is there a JV kid (pick one off any of the 3 JV squads we have) that can kick a ball through the goal posts? Answer: (crickets) Question: Have you ever thought about recruiting a kid on the boy's OR girl's soccer team to come and kick? Answer: (even more crickets) Question: Is the coach really putting his players in the best position to win? Answer: (Crickets so loud it reminds me of the locusts from Exodus - "They covered the surface of the soil till the ground was black with them...")

Their win % is not much different than Newton. That is a fact. But having a similar win % and being of the same caliber are definitely 2 completely different things. If you’re going to take things out of context, be sure and do it so the person you are trying to lie about doesn’t know...

Now THAT was a somewhat decent post (I can give you a few more tips if you want - free of charge). And yes, I was, and I remain still, too big to shove in a locker. Haven’t met many that were brave enough to try in the first place. In all seriousness, though, I largely agree with your post above. If you replaced all instances of “think” with “hope”, it would be even better. See, you didn’t even have to ask for the help!

Here’s what I posted before: I was replying to LC-M that Little Cypress could not compete with the likes of winners like Newton, WO-S and PN-G. I am not trying to argue the point that PN-G is the same caliber as the other 2 programs (although many will argue that they are). I will say that for a school with a resume like this, they are a winning program (like my post stated) Nothing stating that PN-G is close to Newton or WO-S.

I don’t think anyone made that claim. Possibly jumping in the middle of a thread and puking up some foul garbage to try to be relevant could be considered pure ignorance. Or not...

Hey GB, thanks for that. I appreciate it. Based on overall records, WO-S is at 80% wins, Newton is 65% and PN-G 61% (not much different than Newton). But I really like looking at more than just a record. It’s the list of accomplishments, but just as much, it’s the attitude of the program.

Nope. I actually had kids in school back then. But we did beat Silsbee, Jasper, LC-M, East Chambers, etc. back in the day. We were Ok. Nothing awesome.

Lol. Last years game made me wanna throw up. I think I actually did. If it makes you feel good, I will say that LC-M is at the higher end of mediocre teams. Just under Lumberton. Lol.

Lumberton. Another mediocre school that I love dearly, but also understand that until A LOT of things change, it will be in the same boat as Hamshire Fannett, Bridge City, LC-M, and other mediocre schools of the same cloth. I hope they win every game they play, but I can’t help but be honest about their chances.

So, just cuz I like silly people, I'll give you some knowledge: 1.An hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable event, made on the basis of established facts as an introduction to further investigation and is considered to be stronger than a prediction. 2. A prediction is a declaration on what is expected to happen based on some fact and some evidence, but it can also impart a small level of a "gut" feeling usually based on either history or even more recent events. 3. A guess usually implies, "Hey, I just pulled this out of my butt, because I like this and that's how I want it to be." So, while a prediction is a guess to an extent, it is more than that. It's like a guesses big brother and requires a little more thoughtfulness. And an hypothesis is like both of their Dad. I hope this clears it up for you sillygogo1734. Besides, doesn't anybody ever give anyone else a hard time or even a light shove over their predictions (guesses) on this site? Of course they do sillynewbiegogoguessing1734! Relax and have some fun!

I will say that for a school with a resume like this, they are a winning program (like my post stated): Overall record (approx.): 600-350-33 (not exact) 3 State Championships, 6 State Final appearances, 8 Semifinal appearances, 10 Quarterfinal appearances, 15 Regional, 10 Area, 30 Bi-District appearances (12 of them in the last 16 years in case you want to know about recent accomplishments), 27 District Championships (including the last 4 years 2015-2018 in case you want to know about recent accomplishments). I tried to find the list of LC-M Football accomplishments for a comparison, but I couldn't find any... Can someone please post similar LC-M stats for a comparison?

Well, I am a numbers guy... 11 is approximately 57% more than 7. 57% is more than 1/2 (do you see where I'm going with this?) That is lopsided!... I don't wanna hear that same ole whiny crap about "they suit up more than...blah, blah, blah....vomit". If you need to suit up more kids then that's your school's/community's/coach's/parents'/kids fault. Get more kids to play sports - football in particular. Newton plays about as good a ball as anyone in this area - wouldn't you agree? They beat Silsbee by 3 scores. They beat WO-S. Do you think Newton uses that sickening excuse of being a smaller school or not suiting up as many kids? No! The difference is they refuse to accept mediocrity like LC-M does (among many other programs - not singling LC-M out). Winning is a culture. It's not something that happens by chance. Since this is just a Sub-Varsity thread, I will save my "Winning is a Culture" soliloquy for another time... Meanwhile, please realize that with comments like "11-7...(is) really NOT lopsided..." is proof positive that you're complacent with mediocrity. You're actually trying to say that 11 losses and 7 wins ain't that bad...disgusting. I'm sorry, but it is vulgar in my eyes to accept mediocrity.

Honestly, I wish LC-M varsity could compete with the likes of PN-G. They can’t. A couple years ago I posted about winning programs like Newton, WO-S, PN-G and what they have that makes them winners... Schools like LC-M, Lumberton, Bridge City have never been able to figure out the formula. I’ll bet on The Indians over them Bears every time, and I’ll guarantee you that I’ll come out ahead...

Yep. I’m usually a Pizza “purist”. Sauce, cheese, meat(pepperoni/Italian sausage), mushrooms... but the Yardbird (Bbq Chicken) pizza and the Boudain Pizza are freakin’ awesome at Crown Pizza!
