  1. Social media is a Big Hurdle, everyone has a voice. Lots of misinformation. The tax payers wanted change , now here it is. The flagship of athletics is football. You wanna see the moral, pride and spirit falter, let football continue to tank. How bout we let the new AD, who just happens to be the HFC do his job..... BUT BUT everyone on social media knows better.

Got some info on this...this was a footwork drill when the injury happened and that this is a pre-existing condition (he injured the elbow before)  As if there wasn't drama in Nederland before now the new football coach is taking heat from the baseball people because of it...Coach Rich is trying to change the culture at Nederland it was inevitable that he ruffled a few feathers along the way

Sooner or later the welcome mat was sure to be pulled from under his feet......Hold your ground Coach. All hands on Deck.

Accidents happen it doesn't matter if the player is in season or not. This is not on a coach or a player its just an unfortunate situation. Many athletes all across the state participate in multiple sports at the same time. Shoot Prime suited out for a professional baseball game and a professional football game in the same day.

    Agreed

I have a question... I keep seeing the word "elite coach" and it looks like certain teams have it figured out.  Is it really the coach that made the difference or the change by UIL districting with the change from separation from 5A-DI and DII??

Looking at PNG's losses the last two years... besides Oak Cliff.. the teams they lost to were beat by WEAK 5-D1 teams and out the first round.. (22-23 Marshall beat by a very weak Crosby team that finished 4th and out first round) (23-24 PA Memorial finished 3rd and out first round).

There's no doubt the Injuns are as well coached as anyone but, BINGO on the difference in D1 and D2.... Much easier path as of late....

  5. I don't think anyone here would argue that the injuns have had better personal the last couple years. And better Coaching without  question. The biggest separation was in the trenches., and not so much skill wise imo.... Talent is cyclical, it comes and goes. If Neds new staff lives up to expectations, I see no issue of much more competitive matchups in the future. It's all cyclical ,coaching and talent.....Lets give it some time and see...200 more kids is a plus but by no means the tell all year by year.

The key is for him to get a very good OC and especially DC. They need quality coaches at all positions, especially the OL and secondary

I sure hope he can do it. I am not really a spring training guy due to other sports going on at the same time and the loss of a scrimmage, however he has got to find out and evaluate the talent he has even though a few players in other sports will miss out

ST is a must this year....He has a whole new system to implement as well as evaluate personnel. As the AD  its on him to make sure ALL that play football participate, as much as possible. Football puts buttss in the seats and fills the coffers.

You are some-what correct and some-what not.  Owens was RT's DC.  I can say with 100% certitude that RT called the plays both at Vidor and at TJ when Derouen was there.  Neumann was HC at Nederland when Owens left in '95.  Doesn't mean he didn't apply.  Not sure.  Larry Walker got the TJ job when Owens left.  Then Marler got it.  It is my understanding that Owens gave Neumann his first high school job.  I do know he was the secondary coach.  I believe, for the first 7 years, Jay Law was TJ's DC.  Law left for Vidor in 1989.  I also know that Neumann was in the Houston area for 1 or 2 years before he got Ned's HC job.  So, that would leave 2 or three years at TJ after Law left.  Was he the DC during that time?  No sure.  But, again, for historical accuracy, I'll try and find out.

Yes, DeRouen had the title....RT called plays....And I Think it was Celaya who was after the job at TJ, not Neuman.
