Never mind.  I've been informed by my wife that i'd much rather attend a retirement and then her company Christmas party.  Crap.

Worst shooting game I have ever witnessed Angel have in all the games I have seen him play. (about 20). He was 1 of 11 from 3 point line and actually air balled one from the corner. Just wasn't his night but yet Big Sandy still wins game by 20 over 3A #2 Kountze. #4 Benson had his way with Kountze. Lions could not stop him. Also, BS pounded Kountze on the boards, particularly the offensive glass. Wildcats got plenty of put backs.
I know it's still early, but Kountze does not look like a state tourney team right now. Saw them twice in this tourney, losses to Hudson and Big Sandy.
Big Sandy will be back in San Antonio, no doubt!

I'm sitting on NS side. Not as packed as Dickinson's.

They earned the #1 ranking because they had not lost and the #1 team did.
Like ST413 stated, had Silsbee been ranked #8 in preseason, I highly doubt that Silsbee would be #1 right now based on what they have done so far thru just 4 games. Them starting out at #2 (based on what the team was returning from last year) helped them be in the position to gain that #1 ranking after Bridgeport lost.
Pretty damn simple to me.

Knowing what they are missing because of still in the football playoffs, yep I was selling them short. Told Coach Sigler that last night. He agreed.
Again I ask what's bigger. The Silsbee win or the Central loss?
Lot's of folks in attendance last night were expecting a Central 15+ win.
You can spin it however you want, Central was not suppose to lose to a Silsbee "Lite" team, no matter the ranking.

Kountze will be fine. They've got enough athleticism and basketball IQ to beat any team in their district. Woodville is very much improved and looked like a pretty even match with Kountze. Woodville had more depth and more athletes as a whole, but none the caliber of Arnold. I could see both of these teams winning their respective districts. Woodville has Central Heights projected at the top of theirs, followed by Newton in 2nd, then Wville in third. I think that may be a little bit off.

Kountze was 12-32 from the FT line... Kountze played bad. The Sophomore for Woodville is good and they have a good shooter. I give Woodville their props but from what I was told it was more of Kountze not executing than Woodville playing up to Kountzes level. Just what I was told. I know if Kountze doesn't play better this weekend they will lose handily to Lufkin Hudson and Big Sandy this weekend.

My Brother was at the game and said the Woodville was very poor from the line as well. Said that both teams athleticism was impressive and that the defense on both sides was fast and tenacious. Said that both teams had shots that dropped and others didn't. Kountze had 3 decent 3 pt shooters and 2 really well. Arnold being one of them.  He didn't have a Dog in the Fight just lives in the area and wanted to see a good game. So, I'm thinking Woodville is better then some are giving them credit for. Cause there is no Homerisum on his evaluation.  Only time will tell. 

Everyone is sugar coating it ,no it was terrible for Central. Reason being no matter who Silsbee had 3 freshman should not beat a senior laden team team. Yes Silsbee frosh are good along with the 4 others but when you line it up ,you say yea itll be a good game but i expect Central to win it. Silsbee has more natural basketball players, period. Will Central be ok of course but these types of losses can do 2 things make or break you. Its all good when your winning but the minute you lose well you know how it goes

Central Heights is a pretty good 3A but weren't the beat pretty handily by Lufkin Hudson? Big Sandy will get a couple test this week vs Lufkin Hudson and Kountze 

At some point in time, Coach Joubert has to put his foot down.

You have to respect his wishes and concerns. He has to ready to compete at a higher level and against greater odds. He made his mark in high school. If he feels the extra time to prepare, we all should honor those wishes. And now you get another kid to get produce from Kountze, who may not have had the opportunity.

Seems to me that being in basketball shape couldn't hurt you in football. When football players come out of football to basketball most are bad out of shape. But I'm a relic anyway, what do I know. Lol

Well if he's going to be wishy washy about it then they're probably better off without him.  I don't care how talented a player may be.
Might be better off without him anyway.  It's obvious he isn't going into it dedicated to begin with.  Let someone else have a chance to get better.  Maybe a kid they'll depend on in the future will get some much needed game experience .

Plus let's remember that this isn't the first time Arnold has changed his mind...

It's going to hurt early on but you'll now get to the see the younger players step up. I'm talking moreso about McMahon and Edwards who are both Sophomores. I don't think any others players stop playing as Arnold is making this decision to focus on prepping for College. You really can't blame him and I'm glad he made the decision now instead of later.
I'm fine as long as they're ready for the playoffs, which is what counts the most. With the exception of Palestine Westwood and East Chambers I did not see any other contenders in Region 3 this year for Kountze. Or course there are some sleeper teams out there.

Hate to here that for the sake of Kountze Basketball...although being in such a weak district with maybe exception to EC...Kountze will still be a playoff team but winning district could be a much tougher challenge. Yes some will go far to the left and be like the Waterboy movie and say "on no we suck again" but let's be real Kountze will hold its own in most cases but they will have zero depth and no room for injury or grade issues...now for my black sheep thoughts...if Arnold is not playing how does that affect the other players? Do more hang up the high tops or do they embrace it and take it as their time to shine? Time will tell the tale.

Anyone that thinks Coach Joubert would give up basketball and keep football is crazy.  I would think he is an individual that likes winning too much.  I would bet he keeps AD title and Head Basketball along with it...and gives up football.  I'm sure either that...or leave.  No way he keeps football instead of basketball...at Kountze...even without the Arnold kid I'm sure the basketball team will still be just fine.

yeah Losing Cunnigan was a tough lost, But a player to look out for his Dre Mcmahon. This could be a breakout year for Tiger Edwards as well.
