Don't know why you are throwing shade, but to me this is not personal.
Yes, some kids are naturally stronger than other, it is genetics. But that is not talent, IMO.
But typically, strength is developed through hard work in the weight room and a mental decision to commit to the weight room.
Where as talent, even though it can be enhanced and even developed, is something kids just have.

Some kids are inherently talented, and from what I have seen, Center has more than their far share of talented kids.

    Talent is a skill set.
    Strength is a mind set.
Both can be taught or "coached" but the skill set is more inherent than the mid set.

It takes ZERO talent to be STRONG.
All it takes to become strong is a commitment to hard work in the weight room.

Yes, WOS has played for 4 in a row. But, nobody else has even played for 3. That was what was being discussed.
The Senior's at WOS have been a part of a State Championship Game run all 3 years they have been in high school, up to this point (looking for #4).

And didn't WOS return the opening kickoff for a TD also?
Sounds like it was a game of 2 evenly matched teams the first time that was decided by Special Teams.
No reason why the rematch will be any different IMO.

Just to be fair they went toe to toe with us and that was any ones ball game.Coach called to go for it on 4th down at about mid field and were stoped.WOS was able to get in field goal range with the short field and made it.I look for the same type of game come Friday and hopefully the same out come.

I posted in a thread earlier which got locked shortly thereafter, but it dealt with this same discussion:
"Lumberton, LC-M, Bridge City, Hamshire Fannett (Include Huffman, if you wish) and other teams that don't consistently win will never consistently win.
It's not because their coach sucks, or there kids "just aren't as big as kids on the other team" or because select baseball or band or because no one gives them a chance or BLAH BLAH BLAH and the sickening list goes on and on...
The kids, the parents, the community, the fans, the school system - they are all complacent.
Until that kid wakes up at 5:30 each morning and gets a run or a lifting workout in before school or goes to the gym on the weekends and eats a good diet to pack on some beneficial muscle mass and gets some other leaders from his team to force all the other kids to join him, then it will never work. Those kids need to be salesmen for the team. Talk it up with the band kids or soccer athletes or baseball players that don't play football and try to get them to play. Until the student athlete takes control of every aspect of his athletic ability and knowledge of his position, then it will never work.
Until the parents quit bitching about the coaches' crappy decisions about who should start at QB, until they nudge their athlete at an early age to condition and stay active and athletic, until every parent of an athlete joins the booster club and actually does more than pay their once a year dues, until they are ALL IN on their town's football program, then it will never work.
Until the community & fans backs the football program like they do at PN-G where season tickets are passed down from generation to generation, until every business owner has the school colors in their windows during football season, until the people who pass an athlete in a letter jacket at the grocery store and tell him "Good Luck" or "Go Bears", until Friday night stands are packed out with folks that don't even have a kid on the team, then it will never work.
What does the school district need to provide? A coaching staff. I'm not knocking ANY of the coaches in our area. Quite frankly, I know several of them, and they are pretty good guys that feed their families by coaching high school sports. But if I have the means, and I want to win, I'm getting the best that's available. Not just from an X's and O's standpoint, but someone that can help turn a program around. Someone that can not only draw up plays and prepare for their opponents week to week, but someone that can help with the kids and the parents and the community issues above. How many coaches of what would be considered average schools in this area have had consistent 4 deep playoff runs? How many have been to state more than once (or ever)? ANY? More like none. Forget the pretty turf stadium (Lumberton, for instance) and spend that money on a coach. Until the school and the community are willing to pay, then it will never work.
A very good friend of mine who has coached at a lot of schools coaches at WOS. He says the atmosphere there is much more different than you find at the "average" schools. Until the atmosphere changes and people quit being complacent, and until it makes each player AND parent AND fan AND school teacher/administrator AND anyone else in the community physically ill to lose, then it will never work.
Winning is not just a goal, but an expectation. Anything less isn't good enough..."

This is a top down problem. Everybody is to blame. It starts with the parents and the community, but the whole Administration is to blame.

The fact that this is even a thread leads me to believe that Huffman (or any school that feels remotely similar to this) will never have any real success in football.  "who supports or do not support High School football during Thanksgiving break?"..  Get out the flags Huffman.  You're officially playing intramural football over there.

As it does EVERYWHERE, if you don't have support from the top then you are just spinning your wheels.

This has been a GREAT coaching job by Coach T and the entire staff. As constituted right now, and with some breaks (injuries to key players on other teams) the Mustangs have a great chance to end up back in Jerry World.

Built before the law was put into place.
I think it was a 2010 law, that went into effect in 2012, any press box over 500 square feet has to have an elevator, if I'm not mistaken.

Didn't call anyone an idiot. I said, "IF you think this way then....."
The UIL is not in the money making business. They use revenue generated by certain SPORTS to run all the other events that they host on a yearly basis.
I just can't stand when people get on a message board and call out the UIL. They do more for ALL extracurricular activities in Texas than any organization of their kind.

You are DEAD wrong. UIL is the best governing body in any State for athletics. The UIL does more for high school athletics in the state of Texas than any group in any other state. It is the best run organization of its kind. Yes, they generate money, but that money goes to pay the salaries of the GREAT people they have running that organization and to support all of the other (non-revenue generating) Extracurricular Events, like Band Competitions, One-Act-Play and many, many other Academic Competitions.  If you think the UIL is in this to make money you are an idiot. They use football and basketball to fund the organization so they can put on Top Notch Events for all High School kids,

I used to be one of those guys who thought expanding the playoffs to 3-4 teams over just 2 teams was a bad idea. Watering it down. But I have moved on.
What I do not care for is having 4 teams qualify for playoffs out of 4-6 team districts. A team should never have a losing district record and qualify for playoffs. I mean we just had a team recently make playoffs with an 0-10 record (Houston Scarborough). 0-10!!!!!
I praise the UIL in all their efforts but one thing I would like for them to do. If they want 4 teams to qualify, make it mandatory for all districts to have a minimum of 7-8 teams, in all sports.
If they are worried about travel expenses for schools which keeps them from making the districts bigger, then allow districts with 8 or more teams have 5 qualifying teams and districts with 6 or fewer teams only have 3.

The last time I checked, the goal was to win a State Championship. The Coaches job is to put kids in position for long term success and noT be short sighted. You don't show your whole offense in Non-District for a reason. You don't show all of your Blitz packages early in the year for a reason. You don't run trick plays to win games during the preseason. Losing a game that better prepares you for success in the playoffs is a NO BRAINIER.

I'm definitely not saying one way is better, or right.
To each his own. I'm just tired of listening to the griping and complaining about Allen and their "ONE BIG SCHOOL."
I'm basically saying get over it, because other places could have the same scenario, with a one school district, but choose not too. It is really all about choices.
It's kinda like people who complain about Alabama dominating College Football. If you don't like it, then get better and beat them.

In Beaumont's case, we were like Baytown with three schools.  I don't like how it happened but I'm glad we are back to two high schools.  Should have never been three.  One high school in Beaumont?  There were talks about doing that but I say leave it like it is now.  Once things balance out and a winning coach is placed at United, both West Brook and United will have respectable football programs.  No Allen or GPNS but they will be able to compete in 6A-D2 playoffs.
Baytown is a totally different situation and should have merged to become one school.  Their current enrollment total is 6,137 with all 3 schools combined.  Would championships start coming, probably not but they would make the playoffs in my opinion in 21-6A.
