  1. LCM now have the Robinson sisters eligible.  This will make this district VERY interesting!  The addition of the sisters as well as that really good freshman they have (I dont know her name) makes this LCM team a strong playoff team. I think Silsbee still wins the district, but the 2nd and 3rd place spots are up for grabs if LCM can win out in district play.  They have already lost 3 district games but they have a big matchup vs Lumberton coming up.

  2. Whew!  Sounds like it was a great game that came down to making STOPS.  I learned a long time ago that if you score 30 but you give up 40 you gon lose lol.  Analytics is good and all but that only applies on the offensive end.  I get so tired of hearing "we lost the game but I had 25" lol. Kids that end up playing on the next level find out very quickly that defense gets them on the floor and keeps them there.  Just my opinion tho......

  3. HJ picked up a VERY impressive win today by beating a national power Valor Christian Academy out of Colorado which features the #2 post player in the country and Oregon St commit Reagan Beers. HJ came from behind and won 55-51 without Junior post Molly Beavers. Ashlon Jackson was sensational! Sneed was very efficient and HJ gritted out a victory.

Next up is 6A SA Wagner and SouthWest Academy out of Canada.

    Keep it up HJ!

  4. SC did a very good job of not letting Jackson beat them and to let someone else try.  SC constantly face guarded or sent 2 at Jackson.  HJ did not execute very well in the second half.  Waaay too many turnovers!  Live and learn, on to the next!  It doesnt get any easier tho.  Now they are off to Dallas where they will be taking on Valor Christian out of Colorado who features the #2 post player in the country Reagan Beers then they play against Southwest Academy out of Canada who feature an Iowa St commit and another guard who was featured on this years U19 Canadian team and they will also play 6A SA Wagner who feature another highly touted back court.  HJ will be much better due to this tough schedule.

  5. Not bad at all for "Lil ol HJ."  Went into this tourny as the only 4A and finished 4-1 with the only loss being to a top 15 NATIONALLY ranked team.  That game was a tale of 2 halves, didnt really shoot the ball well the first half but then they came out in the 2nd half and played Duncanville pretty even.  40-36 in the 2nd half.  Great showing for them Lady Hawks

  6. This tournament is LOADED!!  Some of the teams in it are:

    Duncanville - 6A #2,  SA Reagan - 6A #7,  Cibolo Steele - 6A #13,  Langham Creek - 6A #14,  SA Clark - 6A #15,  McKinney - 6A #21,  Cedar Park (defending 5A State Champs) - 5A #1,  Pflugerville - 5A #9,  New Braunfels - 5A #24.

All the other teams in it are all playoff teams who went 2-3 rounds deep.  HJ is the only 4A in the tournament.

Im hearing that HJ and BU are scheduled for a scrimmage before the season kicks off.  I hope it comes about, will be fun to watch.

Welp, no scrimmage will be taking place im hearing that because of a miscommunication the scrimmage that was happening on Nov 2nd wont be taking place.  This just needs to be a regular season game, it would be good for the area!  Been hoping for this matchup for the last couple of years.

Boerne just upset 1 of only 2 teams in the state that I thought were possibly better than HJ.  That said, they're REALLY GOOD.  Boerne has 4 losses on the year.  One to a 5A regional finalist Georgetown by 3 points, one to SA Clark that ended the season 17-2 and could've made it to state (lost by 3 to the team representing their region in the state semis), and twice to Fredericksburg, who they just upset to face HJ.  This is going to be the toughest opponent (by quite a margin) that HJ has faced since they played Summer Creek mid-November.  Two silver linings: 1. HJ still got a bit of a break dodging Fredericksburg, who should've won against Boerne, and is better than Boerne.  2. HJ has been sloppy the last two games, and got tested twice when they probably shouldn't have. The hawks got two reminders of how to play in close games at just the right time.  I'll take HJ by 8, but I'm really nervous about this one.  HJ has to clean it up some.  If they play like they did against China Springs and La Vega there's a really good chance their season ends.

The head of the snake for Boerne is their PG. They also have a very solid big.  However the pg is only 5'4 or 5'5 and in their losses this season struggled against length, which is a strength of HJ (length at the guard position). Boerne is very methodical in what they run and they run it well.  Foul trouble will be a factor in this game. Quite sure Boerne will play zone against HJ to try to take away the effectiveness of HJ's guards. If HJ's defense can dictate the pace of this game then HJ is favored. Both teams run similar offenses so that should be interesting, HJ has a better overall roster but the little things will be huge in this game.
