  1. When I called the New Caney/Nederland game, which came down to the last 5 min.  The Dogs had a hard time with the Press.  That, combined with the size difference, will be the deathnail for Ned.  I think this gets ugly, BU had two players that usually shoot the 3 well go 20% from 3 vs a good Crosby team, and still won by 16.  BU is on another level compared to Ned.  That being said, I hope I am wrong and it stays close.  I'll be on the call tonight on TexanLive.com

I have watched this team for the last two years and have watched a ton of deep playoff runs from Texas programs in my life.  The speed that EC has is not 3A Speed EC3 Reminds me of watching Trey Williams in Dekaney HS (Spring) back in 2010.  Sometimes there is just a player that is better than anyone on the filed and it is not often that player is 5 Foot 7.  Some small college is going to get a heck of a CB and not give EC3 a chance at RB.

And you are a great follow on Twitter time to Fly the Jolly Roger all the way to Waller this Friday.

Thanks, my friend,  My twitter feed has been a bit slow lately.  Without going into it all, my neighbor shot and killed our incredible family dog in retaliation for getting after some of their loose chickens.... been working with the Sheriff's Dept. and our whole fam has been in a funk over this. Thanks for following, and I've been given the honor of broadcasting the Boy's Basketball team also. Can't wait to see these boys play on the court!

  3. Yes! Yes! Yes! TXBBQDude! and look out for Green in the corner of the endzone!

The defense has progressively gotten better and better throughout the season.  I still got my Bucs by at least 2 TD's.  I feel like Yoakum will have to score virtually every possession to keep up with EC, therefore EC gets the win.  Yoakum has given up 30+ points in their 2 losses.  This will likely be the best offense they have seen all year, so they will have to get some turnovers, or match them score for score.

Ok I have been lurking for sometime and am fairly knew to the Winnie area.  My job transfers me about every 4 years so my kids know what it is like to have to change schools.  But when I got transferred to Port Arthur my wife and I decided that the best school for our kids was East Chambers  When you work in the plants or in a town that works near the plants you will have a better choice of athletes than if you are in the middle of the piney woods it is simple economics people move from places without jobs to places with jobs.  To think that a high school team has to have the same genepool for 50 years is just insane.

My wife and I both grew up in Big Football towns of the 90's Freer and Refugio respectively and have fallen for this East Chambers Team.  First I have met some of these kids and the way you talk about these kids here is disrespectful.  That kid you are mad is faster than your team is one of the most respectful and liked kid in the high school.  The kid they had at Quarterback last year who broke his ankle against HF was the same.  I have seen this QB now grow from a Freshman that fought like hell against Grandview and had them on the ropes in the first half.  These kids wont be kids for long and it sounds like some of you need to stop being miserable and enjoy the gift that is Texas Football.  Trust me I have been all over and nothing beats 2A-4A Texas football.  To say that EC has not played anybody is not fair either.  They beat 3 4A schools in a row schools that have enrollment almost 50% higher.  Are you a coach?  Do you know how hard it is to schedule someone pre-district when you are a good team.  They had West Rusk on the schedule who is probably a better team that than anyone in the district but that was cancelled due to a hurricane.  A good portion of these kids are also still living in houses that had damage from the horrible flood last two years in Winnie.  Be the bigger man and just enjoy this team.  This Coach is not like some Coaches that will purposely run up the score.  Buna if you are mad stop them from scoring.  I mean the second team offence was in half of the game.  How is this fair to East Chambers they will have to be prepared to play full games in the playoffs.  Do you think the coach in Refugio who had a National stroy written about him takes his players out?  Does he go to State year after Year?        And I am just a Band Parent

I have heard the same thing from the coaches in the press box, about the character of these kids.  That was the first two words that came out when I mentioned the QB.. "Great kid" He went on and on, we never got around to talking about his play on the field! LOL

Watched this HBO Documentary a couple nights ago. I thought It was pretty even handed as far as disinformation on both sides.  First half is more focused on the Right and 2nd half on the Left.  The basic takeaway is that the internet and foreign entities are using social media/internet to divide us and it is working very well.  This has made the division so wide that the outside disinfo is now being propagated by not only foreign influences but also by domestic sources that have bought into the past and present disinformation.

Don't shoot the messenger! I just thought some of you folks might be interested

  6. I have called every game EC has played for 2 seasons.  EC3 is a legit talent that would start on any program in the state!  This kid is Electric on the field! sometimes his runs remind me of Barry Sanders the way he can spin, and shift. This team isn't a one trick pony though they have 3 really good players that can break it at any time.  Gillory has emerged as a really good RB with a different skill set from EC3.  He has elite speed and may not be as shifty but when he gets a hole he is gone!  KK Morris has also lit it up from the slot on motion handoffs or an occasional reverse, but is also a very good receiver.  The coaches play calling has gotten very good lately also, adjusting to the weaknesses in the defense, especially against Kirbyville and Buna.  The entire O-Line has returned and it shows.  I didn't even mention the Sophomore QB Perrault!  He is a true dual threat QB and can throw on the run better than any QB i've seen this year.  The only weakness WAS the pass defense but it has gotten much better, and I would say its not a weakness anymore.

Now I'm a Homer for sure (not an alum, but the 2 seasons calling them have made me one) so take all this however you like, but I really think this is the year they make it all the way to the championship.  Do they win it all? who knows but this team is really, really good. I have posted a lot of highlights on my FB page JDSETXsports and Twitter @jdsetxsports see for yourself!

I don’t post often but want to throw in my two cents. Livingston has performed exceptionally well this year, and has gotten progressively better each game. We’ve won 5 straight and rather handedly over Splendora last week. I’m not going to lie and say I know much about how good or bad Vidor is this year, but on my biased paper Livingston is looking like the better pick in the jungle.
in response to a couple of posts earlier in this forum:

Livingston should be 6-1 and lost last second to Needville.
Our QB has lived in Livingston his entire life. I’ve known him and his family since he was young.
Y’all can dog Livingston all you want, because we haven’t been good in a decade- I think we’ve only had one season of .500 ball in the last 10 years, but give this group the credit they’re due. Moving down divisions and playing in a weak district helps, but to take the steps to overturn a tradition of lack luster football that this group has is difficult and rewarding for them to be a part of and enjoy.

Yes, I agree these players have worked hard.  The Quarterback is a great kid, I've known is family the 20 yrs that I have lived in livingston.  I think he may be even better at baseball!

I understood the first 4th down attempt. I would assume the second 4th down attempt was due to the fact that the Raider D had not slowed EC down. It was a risk that came up one inch short after the measurement. I recall the QB running due to pressure more than called QB runs. The 97 yard fumble return for the EC TD is what killed me. If Lumberton scores on that play, it was gonna be a lot closer game! I feel like the Raiders are getting better. I have confidence that they will compete come district.

yes I agree that fumble recovery was the death nail, great play by Lumberton until the unfortunate fumble, and I didn't even know the ball came out until i saw Caesar with the ball running down the line!  I think they are a decent team, I just think their district will be very tough for them.

  9. Lumberton looked pretty good in the first quarter, then the Coach went for it on 4th down did not make it, EC scores.  Then later in first half on his own 35 he goes for it AGAIN does not make it.... EC scores.  I think the Coach blew it for his team.  Don't get me wrong, they were not going to win but, each team scored on their first 2 possessions, and it was close until they shot themselves in the foot with going for it on 4th down.  I think it was fine the first time but, the 2nd time was a 4th and 2-3yds on your own 35!  Just not smart imo.  Also they ran the ball too much, one of EC''s few weaknesses is WR coverage.  The WR's were open and they kept running planned QB runs just weird.  I'd have to listen to the broadcast again but I think I am remembering it correctly

  10. Even though EC has struggled a little defending the passing game, they still have their best athletes playing the DB positions.  Last week Boykin over threw a lot of balls, if he can hit those open receivers this week they COULD stay with EC.   The EC running game is just so good and even when they do decide to pass Perrault can tuck it an run for 40+.  He escaped some Longhorns last week and made me think of Deshaun Watson the way he escaped!  I can't wait for this game... Ground v Air, gonna be a lot of action for sure!

In the end I think EC wins by two scores.
