  1. Nothing at all. Just pointing out that route helps the bigger receiver and doesn't necessarily have to be a pin point accurate throw. I recall one pass dropped that COULD have (not would have) been a TD.
  2. I would give him an A for what he was asked to do. Short passes, don't take a sack, be accurate. 2nd half after Newton made some adjustments is where he looked more like a freshman. Overall a solid B.
  3. You might want to check on the state titles that Barbers Hill has won.
  4. I assume you are including girls sports?
  5. SETXsports will be doing this game.
  6. Or the fact that Neece is utilizing the talents he currently has. Anahuac has a pretty good set of receivers, very good size and athletic ability. Most of the passes were short routes that the receiver turned into big gain. Also, several of the throws were fade routes that the bigger receiver took advantage of the smaller defender. Not alot of passes that were 15+ yards down field. Newton had a handle on Anahuac's run game so Neece was going to the passing game pretty often to hopefully open up the run game. 2nd half, Newton took away the short passes therefore getting the shutout in 2nd half. Neece knows what he has and that's a talented freshman QB that in time will eventually be the man for the offense.
  7. Definitely threw the ball more than normal.
  8. Wonder how often a #5 ranked team is a 17 point dog?
  9. Caneyhead proper is actually between Silsbee and Fred. From FM 1122 north on FM 92 to Tyler County line is considered Caneyhead. Also, most folks only consider Caneyhead residents to be on the east side of 92. West side is considered Drakeville. I know this area very well being I spent a lot of my time in and out of there with friends, classmates and girls. All Caneyhead residents attended Silsbee schools (if they went to school).
  10. I will be on both. One the first half and the other the 2nd half.
  11. I see what you are saying. To answer that question, never. But I stood on the sidelines last Friday night (1st half on Anahuac side, 2nd half on Newton side) and from what I saw was Neece doing all the play calling. Now that doesn't mean the plays weren't being radioed down from OC in the booth. But Neece carries a play card in his hand and when the time to call the play arose he referenced to it many times.
  12. Wrong. There have been many times an assistant coach or even head coach was hired and their son ended up being the starting QB. Package deal.
  13. Ever is a long time. Pretty sure Memorial hasn't (the school hasn't been around very long) LC-M may have many years ago but not recently.
  14. Josh Smalley Orangefield
  15. What does West Brook have to do with this prediction thread?
  16. Bridge City enrollment: 849 Orangefield enrollment: 529
  17. Personally, I have never considered a 14 point win (regardless of score) a blowout. Too many factors involved. I attended a game where one team led 35-0 going into the 4th Q. It was total domination by said team. They played the 4th with all their backup players and the other team scored 3 TD's to finish the game at 35-21. One could say that was a blowout (I would agree with that statement) only because of how the game was played. I also saw a game where a team won 56-42. The losing team scored with 5 minutes left in game to cut the lead to 7 (49-42). Forced a 3 and out, got the ball back and drove down to the opponents 5 yard line with 25 seconds left on the clock. Next play was an interception that was returned 100 yards for TD. Game ended 56-42 but was far from being a blowout game. Both teams moved down the field against one another. In fact, the losing team actually had more offensive yards than the winning team. Kicking game and turnovers were the difference. Just saying that 14 point wins, no matter if it's high scoring or not, is still too close to be considered a blowout in my opinion.
  18. FYI (and I know the head coach at H-D knows this) but it is against UIL rules for a player to play two football games within a week. You are not allowed to play JV game on Thursday night and then play varsity game on Friday night. Now if there was no JV game Thursday night, then all players are eligible to play varsity on Friday night.
  19. I'll be on the sidelines for this one. Should be a good game.
  20. [Hidden Content] Local teams in these rankings: 6A #2 North Shore #10 Atascocita 5A DI #6 PA Memorial 4A DI #7 Little Cypress-Mauriceville 4A DII #4 West Orange-Stark #9 Silsbee 3A DII #3 Newton 2A DI #1 Timpson 2A DII #9 Tenaha
  21. Strictly talking about offers that have been made by DI schools.
  22. FYI, Silsbee currently has one DI player on the roster (Miller). There are others that will play some college ball (FCS, DII, NAIA, Juco) but Miller is the only player receiving DI offers.
  23. I'll be in attendance for this one. Rice Bowl 2022
