I know some schools pick a date for homecoming and it doesn't matter who the opponent will be. The date is the most important thing due to some scheduling conflicts (i.e. band contest, school functions(UIL) community functions, etc.) The old "lets make sure to schedule the weakest opponent" is not necessarily considered anymore with all the extra activities students and communities have these days. It's mostly about what week is best for the homecoming that will suit as many as possible. I know Silsbee doesn't really look at the opponent when scheduling homecoming. It's about what week works best. Silsbee's homecoming this year was week 2. That was as early as I have ever seen Silsbee have homecoming. But due to some conflicts later in the season, it was the best week for homecoming. I know other schools that look at scheduling homecoming this same way.

I'll be trying out the Crawfish Place before the game tomorrow night. Looking forward to a great pregame meal and a great game.

How far is the Crawfish Place from the stadium?

Needing recommendations for pregame meal in Anahuac. I can stop at my normal place in Winnie (Tia's) but would like to try something near stadium. Thanks for any feedback.

Was asked to stick around some to help out. Not doing the day to day stuff (schedules, standings, etc.) I never said I was going away completely.

I prefer a two team playoff system but I don't make the rules. In a 4 team playoff system, 4th is much better than 5th. Not all 4th place teams "stagger" into the playoffs. Some districts are far more stronger than others. Not all district champions are top 5 teams and in some cases, nowhere near the top 10. I am also speaking in general terms and not specific to a particular district.

I am pretty certain that no 5th place team has ever won a high school football playoff game. 4th will always be better than 5th in a 4 team playoff system. Anyone suggesting they are the same is just not credible.
