That's fine with me, Hub. So, when Kirbyville was in our 3A district down here, you guys covered us as well? I did not know that. -

well, just an example, according to your list Julius Hurndon, Daingerfield; Dadrian Powell, New Waverly; Bryan Waters, Winona, Henry Faulk, Grapeland; Reggie King, Mount Enterprise; Trevor Wait, White Oak, Chad Atchley, Simms Bowie; Kendrick Davis, Grapeland; Jerod Griffin, Cayuga, Eric Davis, Woodville; Trey McGowan, Kerens; Michael Meserole, Hooks; Chris Savala, West Rusk; Colton Turbeville, Scurry-Rosser; Garrett Williams have all had better years than Broderick Jackson from Kirbyville, well if this is true then somebody better call Rice cause their going to be very upset!! ryker, Broderick getting a scholarship from Rice has nothing to do with what player had better years. It's based on ability, skill, and potential. These players that you named may have had better seasons statisticly, but that doesn't make them better college prospects. These all-star teams are only based on what the player did this season, not if he is getting a football scholarship. -

I know that we will be including Kirbyville in our All Setxsports teams, so Hub, it would probably have been better that they were not even considered for the Easttexsports teams. We will always include Kirbyville, Newton, and Woodville in our coverage but not necessarily the teams in their respective district. Kind of like Jasper, we will cover those guys, but not the rest of their district when considering these all-star teams. I can understand including these teams in the Easttex coverage, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. -
I am afraid Jasper doesn't make it to the playoffs. Lufkin Hudson, Center, and Carthage will be the representatives from this district. Aggies, have you seen Carthage play this year? No, I have not seen Carthage play. I do have some contacts who have seen them play and they tell me they are pretty good. The top teams in this district is Hudson and Center. After that, it will come down to Carthage, Jasper, and Rusk for that last playoff spot. Based on what I have seen from Jasper and what people tell me of Carthage, I am going with Carthage as the 3rd place team.

This is as good as Silsbee has done in one school year: The '05-'06 school year for Tiger sports will go down as one of the most successful years in their history. Silsbee claimed 10 district championships, a runner-up, and a third place in the 12 team sports it participated in. Not bad. Here is how they finished: Football: 4-1, runner up Vollyball: undefeated, champ Boys basketball: 10-0, champ Girls basketball: 10-0, champ Baseball: 10-0, champ Softball: 7-3, third Boys track: champ Girls track: champ Boys golf: champ Girls golf: champ Boys tennis: champ Girls tennis: champ Silsbee sent a team in every sport to the playoffs

My take on Silsbee's last two games; both losses

Last year's regional tourney was Silsbee, Hardin-Jefferson, Crockett, and Waco Connally. Silsbee defeated HJ in the regional final. That was Silsbee's third regional final game in last four years. -

Good post, spinks. Glad to see you on here, don't be such a stranger. (btw, tell your brother to keep his fingers off my keyboard ;D) -
I will not be making the trip down to Winnie today to do the updates from the tournament. I am doing the New Year's Eve thing with my wife and two sons. I hope you guys understand. Cfont will keep the updates going down there as best he can. I thank you Coach Fontenot for your help. I hope you guys have a great day down there and I wish you a Happy New Year! Silsbee is definetly in a funk. The two losses to Cleveland and Clear Creek was more to do with the terrible play of the Tigers than the play of their opponents. Silsbee's offense really went stale over these two games and their defense was as lazy as I have seen all year from them. Take in mind both opponents were good teams, but if the Tigers play to their standards, they beat both these teams 7 out 10 times. Silsbee is hurting from the lack of play from Shannon with his bad wrist. The team seems to be just going through the motions and they are not showing any kind of inspired play whatsoever. Please understand me, I am not making any excuses for Silsbee in these losses. I truly believe they deserved to lose these games because of their own poor play. It's the worst I have seen them play all year. Silsbee looks like a tired and frustrated team right now with no get up and go in them at all. They have three pretty tough games coming up, West Brook, Kelly, and Newton, all on the road, before district starts. I think having to play on the road for 2 months has caught up with the Tigers. If they continue to play the way they did these last two games, they will lose these next three headed into district. I still have faith and "confidence" : in my Tigers and I believe they will right the ship and make a run to Austin. I still believe they are the team to beat in Region 3.

Newton's guards will have trouble with the Hawk press, but Newton's inside game will give HJ fits. I say HJ by 9.
