Orangefield @ Silsbee game updates/Silsbee Wins!!!
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee struggled in the first half as I think they were still coping with the fact that they may have lost a starter for the season during warmups. Prentice Lane, soph. starting guard went down with an apparent knee injury during warmups and initial reports have him with a pretty serious knee injury. Along with Lane being out, Silsbee also was without '6"6 junior post Avory Thomas, who was out with an illness. This was not the kind of start the Tigers were anticipating but to Orangefield's credit, the Bobcats took good advantage of that as they came to play in the first half. Silsbee never led in the first half, getting down as much as 10 points, 26-16. The Tigers cut the lead to 1, 32-31, with a 15-6 run with 3 seconds left, but the Tigers were called for a foul on Orangefield's Granger as he was attempting a halfcourt shot at the buzzer. Granger hit 2-3 freethrows to make the halftime score Orangefield 34 Silsbee 31. The second half was all Silsbee. The Tigers came out blazing in the third quarter as they went on to outscore the Bobcats 27-7 in the quarter. Silsbee had several steals and layups as the Tigers relentless defensive pressure took it's toll on the Bobcats. Silsbee led after 3, 58-41. In the fourth, Silsbee extended their lead to as much as 30, 72-42, with a 14-1 run with 3 minutes left in the game. Coach Williams then emptied his bench and sat the starters the rest of the game as the Tigers cruised to a 29 point win, 83-54. Silsbee outscored Orangefield in the second half, 52-20. Silsbee showed why they are the class of 21-3A as they overcame adversity in the first half and then destroyed Orangefield in the second half. The Tigers hopefully will get Thomas back for Friday night's game at HF and we will wait and see about Lane's injury. Good game Tigers, I was glad to be able to be out there to broadcast one for a change. -

I agree! I would like to know who is responsible for letting the coach know? Now don't get me wrong, I know that alledge rape charges is far serious than drug charges, but a crime is a crime when it involves an athlete. There is due process and things the student athlete has to adhere to when under these charges. It can't be swept under the rug. Baby, I don't think this will cause Ozen to forfiet any games. This is not against UIL rules but against supposedly school policy. -

McNeese's '09 recruiting class is better than LU's. Anyone is kidding themselves if they think otherwise.

Silsbee 76 Orangefield 53 -
Well, after over a week hiatus battling pnuemonia, I will try and make a go of it tomorrow night when the Orangefield Bobcats come to town to take on #1 ranked(Setx poll) #8 ranked (TABC poll) district undefeated Silsbee Tigers. The Bobcats are coming off a very close loss to Hardin-Jefferson, 48-43, where they had a great opportunity to upset the Hawks. Orangefield has to try and keep pace with WOS to position themselves for that third place spot. I big upset win here would help in the Bobcat cause. The Tigers are trying to remain undefeated and grab that district championship which will enable the Tigers to get a first round bye in the playoffs. More importantly, a little easier road to the regional tourney. Silsbee defeated the Bobcats the first time, 62-42, back in Orangefield and come in 18 point favorites in this one. Silsbee has had a couple of key additions to the varsity team as of late and this should only bolster the depth advantage the Tigers have over the rest of the district. Broadcast time will start at 7:15 with tipoff around 7:30. Come on out and catch some great high school basketball or just listen right here for all the play-by-play action. 8 days away till Hj and Silsbee again!!!
AggiesAreWe replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Granny please let's be realistic. This would only happen if HJ was without a significant player or two. The team that Silsbee has and the team that HJ has it will be a good game. I would be willing to bet that if HJ and Silsbee win out and that Coop's line will be Silsbee -10. That is respectable however to say that Silsbee will win by 33 is just plain stupid!!!! :D I agree!
