  1. Staying at the Crown Plaza for $69.95 a night!!! Sweet!!!! Thanks Livewire!
  2. Oh, you are entitled to your opinion, Sabine. I just agree with Nos. Also, if you need to throw things in my face to make you feel better, so be it. BTW, Sabine's success or lack of has nothing to do with my smugness of Silsbee. You kid yourself if you think otherwise.
  3. uhhh....I coach at Hardin-Jefferson, I coach basketball, and we play a very fast pace and I still don't think a shot clock should be implemented in high school. I also believe that claiming that Texas is "behind the rest of the nation" in basketball is a putrid attempt at best for an excuse as to why we don't have a shot clock. High school games that use the shot clock are the exception and not the rule for this nation. The games you see on TV are on TV for a reason. They involve kids that Nike, Adidas and the likes are trying to promote. How do you think those TV spots get paid for? The ONLY reason they may use a shot clock in those games (which I still don't ever recall watching Lebron's HS games on TV and seeing a shot clock involved) is because they can afford to have a fourth official there who is qualified to run a shot clock. Train someone to pay attention for an entire game to when the ball hits the rim??? Seriously, and "train" them to not get caught up watching the game but ONLY the ball hitting the rim??? Doubt it. Not at the high school level. You are from a 2A school that I am very familiar with as I used to be a head coach very near there. Ya'll would have just as much trouble finding someone who could keep that clock as any other school (small or large) in the state. GET'EM NOS!!! ;D
  4. HF will beat HJ....................ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............never!!!!!!!!! WHOA!!!!! This kind of talk got me in the doghouse with some certain people. ;D
  5. If anyone is interested, please contact Jordan or myself. Still needing sponsors.

  8. Why? Do you know for a fact, ahead of time, that somebody is planning on forfeiting. Didn't we just witness a team "who had no chance in h-ll make it to the regional final? Who was that? By the way, now that all the hoopla is over and it hopefully will not be taken as an "excuse", Jasper played the last qualifying game against LaVega and the two tournament games without a second team all-district player Scott Middleton who was out with an injury. He is only a soph so you never know, the Dogs may be back sometime in the future. Excuse. : Right. Sounds EXACTLY like the one that Silsbee played on a little bit because a "key reserve" did not make the trip to Huntsville. You walked right into that one. ;D Hey, I never said mine wasn't an excuse. You were trying to say your's wasn't. Besides, I was asked why a certain player did not make the trip. I did not post the info to make an excuse.

  10. Maybe HJ can carry the load again next year... ;D Nope, it will be Silsbee's turn.

  12. You know, I was going say this in my post, but I will let the more educated man lead the way. ;D Good post, nos. Dead on!
  13. $100, $200, $300, whatever amount a person or business feels like giving. Jordan put the thread up because of the short turn around and deadline we have with the UIL. KP, I didn't set myself up for anything. It is just good business to be prepared so we had a deal with our Silsbee sponsor's just in case the Tigers went to Austin. We are getting some good response from some HJ faithful. I believe this will happen, but we could use more sponsors.
  14. Last chance.
  15. Either spill the beans, or the thread gets deleted.
  16. In football, TASO sends game clock and play clock operators to the games. Basketball has to get home folks to do it. A game clock operator does not run the play clock, it is seperate.
  17. I personally don't want a shot clock in high school. I think the stall just adds another dimension to the game. Also, to follow up on what Chad just posted, after experiencing the mess with the scoreboard operator at the regional tournament, it would be unrealistic to expect every school in the state of Texas to have a compatent clock operator.
  18. After hearing about the NW/Sabine game and then reading another thread about stall ball, I would like to know if you think the UIL should implement a shot clock in high school basketball? 35 second? 45 second? Would it be good for the game? Give me your reasons why. Also, if you are against a shot clock, give your reasons why.
  19. JMT, there are sister sites to this? Please provide links to Houston, Dallas and others. Uh, stealth, the links to our sister sites are on our front page of this site. Just go to the home page and scroll down and you will see the links to the EasTexsports, DFWhssports, and others.
