1. What about defense? Could these #2 and #3 scorers possibly be a liability on defense? ;)
 2. I know enough about the game. ;) I have learned plenty over the years. I have had some great teachers.
 3.

I'll put Silsbee's 8th grade team up against anyone's. They have yet to lose a game, from last year to this year.
If the Silsbee 8th grade is as good as you say, that will help carry on the basketball excellence in Silsbee.  However, judging from the performance of the 9th grade team last year, the 8th graders of this year will be sorely needed.
Last year's 9th grade team wasn't too good but they have seemed to improve as a JV team this year. They will be seniors when this current 8th grade team will be sophomores. This year's 9th grade team is not much better but I think they have enough to support the grade behind them. Now the 7th grade class behind this current 8th grade team will have to improve greatly.
 4. Silsbee by 15+.

 6. Blue, I have seen my fair share of basketball in my lifetime. All kinds, from "high flying" to "stall ball". I have seen state championship basketball, all classifications, for 38 straight years now. I think I know what I am talking about. I have seen teams that play the "high flying" style win state championships while being able to let up when things got out of hand. They had that ability and I believe Yates has that ability too. Wise just chooses to keep the pedal to the metal, no matter what. No excuse for that. I am sorry, but what is so hard to understand. A team is up by 88 points at halftime and continues to press the entire game, is running up the score intentionally. It is completely unnecessary. Has nothing to do with keeping the teams edge, or preparing them for playoffs, or preparing them for life, or.......... GET REAL!!! ::) You'll never convince me that letting up on the pressure is going to cost those guys anything. Self glorification, that's all it is. Like I said, I have no problem with someone scoring 170 points and I do not want teams to "quit" scoring. I just have a problem with a team that continues to trap and press when up by over 100 points. Totally unnecessary.
 7.
AAW beat me to it....I usually start putting a 3 by each school in every class once district starts. What's crazy is that some of these teams in this poll struggle in the playoffs and some make it to austin and aren't ranked.
Chad, I didn't mean to steal your thunder. Just was looking at this week's poll and couldn't help but notice how Region III dominated the top 10. I agree with your last statement. When Silsbee made to Austin a couple of years ago, they didn't enter the poll till the regional tourney.
 8. Please nash, let's not ever bring that goofball up in conversation ever again.
 9.
Both teams started district with wins. Any Predictions?
Yep.
 10. I thought I would break down the 3A top 25 poll by regions Here is the poll: Class 3A 1. Dallas Madison 2. Cleveland 3. CC West Oso 4. Hardin-Jefferson 5. Lubbock Estacado 6. Kennedale 7. Lorena 8. Silsbee 9. Liberty Hill 10. Bryan Rudder 11. Somerset 12. Paris 13. Crandall 14. Burkburnett 15. Sweeny 16. La Vega 17. WF Hirschi 18. Argyle 19. Mexia 20. Stafford 21. Seminole 22. SA Houston 23. Prosper 24. Navasota 25. Ferris Teams in bold are Region III teams Top 25 by Regions Region I      5 teams (Lubbock Estecado, Liberty Hill, Burkburnett, WF Hirschi, Seminole) Region II      7 teams (Dallas Madison, Kennedale, Paris, Crandall, Argyle, Prosper, Ferris) Region III    8 teams (Cleveland, HJ, Lorena, Silsbee, Bryan Rudder, LaVega, Mexia, Navasota) Region IV    5 teams (CC West Oso, Somerset, Sweeny, Stafford, SA Houston) Top 10 by regions Region I    2 teams (Lubbock Estecado, Liberty Hill) Region II    2 teams ( Dallas Madison, Kennedale) Region III  5 teams (Cleveland, HJ, Lorena, Silsbee, Bryan Rudder) Region IV  1 team  ( CC West Oso) Obviously Region III is the toughest with 5 teams in the top 10. Curious to see after district play how the poll looks then.
 11. What was the reason for San Augustine to back out?
 12.
And you guys like to huff and puff on how talented Yates is when they are not all THAT talented. They are the only team in the National top 50 WITHOUT a national top 150 rated kid.  This is a heck of a team but you may not hear a thing about these kids after high school... They will fade into obscurity.  Joseph Young is the only kid with a next level game, that could actually make some noise on a Providence squad. But Peters is a 6' guy in a PG's body with no PG  skills (he can barely dribble). Darius Gardner is a sub 6' point guard that will be a decent contributer on a small D1... But I tell you that he is not better than any of the Hancocks or Skip Jackson.  They had decent careers but aren't Pro prospects just like Gardner.  The only other kid that may do a little bit is the 6'3" newly starting Elton Roy, but he took a long time to develop.  He was highly rated in the Houston area out of middle school, but feel off the map by under performing. So yes I say Wise coaching is a BBBBIIIIGGGG part of their success.
Change that to recruiting and we can agree. ;)
 13. The #8 state ranked, #1 HoopInsider/SETX Silsbee Tigers will travel up to Spurger to take on the #5 HoopInsider/SETX Pirates in the last non district game for both of these teams. Silsbee comes in with a 16-2 record while Spurger sports a 14-3 mark. Two very good teams in their respective classifications. This is the first time that Silsbee and Spurger has ever played a varsity game against each other in any sport. Should be interesting as both teams will be missing key starters for this game. Game time is at 7pm with the broadcast set to start at 6:50pm. Just click the link to listen to another fantastic basketball game here at SETXsports.com!! 15.
Just curious, but are there any high level D1 prospects in southeast texas? You know, SEC, Big 12, PAC-10, ETC
I thought you were the smart one and already knew about this area and it's basketball talent. ::) You disappoint me, Blue. Of course now we'll get the comparison from you of an area that has 400,000 population to an area with 4 million. ::)
 16. You can "color it" anyway you want, if a team is still pressing after being up by 100-12 at half, they are intentionally running up the score and showing a lack of respect and class. When I say "they", I am meaning the Yates coach in particular.
 17. Teams have been posted in a sticky topic at the top of this football forum page! Check it out!
 18. See, another example of you knowing very little. I have been happily married for 21 years. I am proud to be my wife's husband. She also knows! ;D Clueless as clueless gets. ;) ;D
 19. Silsbee starting forward D.C. Stallworth will miss his second game as he is still nursing the ankle sprain. Also, Spurger's starting guard Hutto is out for this game too.

This game will be broadcast here on the site. As for predictions, Silsbee wins by 20+.
I was hoping no one would post on this one until wed ;D If spurger can keep it a 15 or 20 point game I will count it as a moral victory(I will be in trouble for saying that)But you never know, thats why you play the game.
I'll be expecting my coke upon arrival. ;D Is the game time 7pm? I did not get a confirmation on this because I did not know if all the sub varsity teams would be playing.
 21. Actually Rizon, I do know you. ;) That's why I can say, you are clueless. ;D

 23. Why so happy about another Big 12 team losing? Wasn't it just a few days ago t-sip fans were crying because other Big 12 fans were relishing in their loss? Now you do the same. Hypocrites! ::)
 24. LAZEEK, and yet here are tu fans relishing in another Big 12 team losing when they cried about other Big 12 fans relishing in their loss. Hypocrites!
