I still say this match should be played at Silsbee CC. ;D -

If the coach in question has a background in kinesiology and stregnth training then he or she should be capable to make workouts to meet the needs of the athletes . There are some coaches that have ZER0 knowledge of the human body and how it will respond to workouts. Those coaches do not need to be involved in making and implementing workouts . And I whole heartedly believe lifting weights will not help a kid hit for better avg. But it can help hand speed. Get the kid a tee and get to work to improve batting avg. Michael Jordan lifted weights even on game day. I guarantee his weightlifting helped him stay healthy throughout the season.
Someone PLEASE explain to me why these regimens, are , in general, at the direction of football coaches instead of the coaches of each specific sport. I can show you a number of instances where the basketball coach has a kinesiology background and the football coach does not. Guess who dictates the lifting programs.
Okay, show me a number of them. Will it be more than 1?
I support operation graduation more than you know sleepy. No harm meant. Badsanta loves the graduates! Nice fund raiser. I thought sleepy was selling out the trunk of his car.
Then why were you so quick to criticize the fund raiser? Your first response to this topic was being appalled at the price of the shirts, $15. Then you start in on the quality of the shirts. You know, I am starting to wonder if some folks were right about you being bipolar. -
HJ @ Hamshire Fannett (Finally The Showdown!)
AggiesAreWe replied to BLUEDOVE3's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
HJ is much more talented than HF. The talent level is not the same, trust me. Seen both teams numerous times this season, it's not even close. HF is improved from the last few years, but to lay all the teams shortcomings at the coaches feet is just plain stupidity. To suggest he is the reason why HF can't beat HJ or Silsbee is ludicrous. -
Sleepy I don't plan on buying because I won't be at the game. Try getting school colors next time. Maybe those will sell better. Fruit of the Loom grey shirts with iron on logos was so 1993. What, you get those 3 in a pack for 9.99 at Walmart? Yes I'm going off just because you spoke out of line. Why not spray paint.a logo on the shirt they already have on for 6 bucks. Duuurrrrrr! Was Walmart sold out of grey tank tops?
It is for Operation Graduation for both schools. I see $15 dollars going to a good cause, not to buy a T-shirt. To me, the shirt is secondary. BTW, the shirts are of better quality than the Hanes 3 in-a pack T's at WalMart. ;) -

Lazeek, who never played basketball, is picking on BadSanta for being a manager/trainer? ::) What's up with dat?
I was thinking the same thing. ::) Like Santa stated, some kids could not play high school sports due to a medical condition.
Coaches and parents should encourage and not discourage. Small schools have to have multi sport athletes to have a successful athletic program. Example, Silsbee. Some say they are not a small school, but they are 3A. They do well in multiple sports. Yes, they have athletes, but the program encourages them to play multi sports. Look at Silsbee's boys varsity basketball team, 8 of the 12 players played football, but yet are successful on the court.
Thanks, AAW for the info.
No problem.

Another note, Nash brought up a good point that one score could cause the stats to be a bit skewed. So, throw out that last HF/Silsbee game, and Silsbee had been beating HF by a average margin of 49.62 over the last 8 district games. If a team has been defeating another team by 50(49.62) points a game over the last 4 years, I think it's very logical to predict a 30+ win again for that team. ;)
-
In the last nine between HF and Silsbee how many were 30+ pt wins?
I had to make some corrections on the HF/Silsbee margin numbers. Silsbee has defeated HF the last 9 district games by an average of 44.88 points. Here are the scores: '07 91-60, 96-55 '08 99-48, 106-38 '09 106-28, 94-52 '10 88-40, 98-60 '11 64-57 To answer your question, 8 of the last 9 games Silsbee defeated HF by 30+. So yes, I could see where folks would pick Silsbee by 30+ coming into last Friday's game against HF. ;) As for Orangefield, winning by a margin of 24.44 over the last 9 games, it's not that far fetched to predict a 30 point win for Silsbee, but not likely. But, in this case, the Tigers did win by 40, 76-36. ;)

If we first assume, as you contend, that history means nothing and then we assume that, as you say and so eloquently reason in this thread that, the third time is a charm, I would like to inquire the following. If Silsbee beats HJ next week at HJ but HJ manages to get to the regionals and somehow meets up with Silsbee again, it seems as though you are saying HJ will win since Silsbee won the first two. Right?
You take things out of context too much Mr. Nash.. History is great for schools and for society, but I was talking about basketball history of teams, and the fact that HJ assumes that history will repeat itself and no matter what other people think, HJ will win.. But to answer your question, HJ will not beat Silsbee next week (unless by some missing players from Silsbee and/or homecooking ;) ), and if they meet again (but I have already stated that I dont think so) SIlsbee will be 3-0 against HJ.. Clear enough?
::) ::) How about you show up to the game and watch it with all of the Hawk and Tiger fans??? I would love your input on the game in person!!!! Doubt that will happen though. I am even sure that AAW and myself could fit you in for some halftime critique of the first half of the game!!!!
Fine by me. That's usually when I run to take a piss. ;D

Let's keep it up basketball fans. Football is the #1 forum on the site (over 340,000 posts), but after being #3 for the first 4 years of this site, the basketball forum is clearly now the #2 most popular forum on the site the last 2 years, moving past baseball and being only the 2nd forum to past the 100,000 post mark. I see this forum never relinquishing it's position.
WRONG...........LU shot 20% as a team for a season in like 62-63 and went 5-19!!!!!! That is about a winning percentage of 20%!!!! So that blows your losing percentage of 98% of the time out the water!!!!!!!
I heard Dave talking about that and he was questioning how they could have shot 20% for the season and scored over 80 points in 8 of the 24 games. I am not so sure that was accurate info given to Dave and I believe Dave that so as well. ;) -

BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! BCG!!! I also listened to Roc's post game interview with Dave, it was pathetic!! "The right players played" What he is saying, "It's not my fault, never has been, never will be" I'll admit, shooting 23% will lose just about 98% of your games. But continue to jack up 3's (shot 30 of them), instead of working the ball for better opportunities (which could have helped the shooting percentage) is on Roc. They don't do any cutting or screening along the baseline and I don't think Roc knows what a give-and-go is. To have never led in a home game against NSU just about says it all. BCG, PLEASE!!!!!!!!
