Oh, I am in no way claiming to be an expert or anything like that...Just like good message board chatter from time to time..I am harmless! 8)
No expert huh? I guess some recent "happenings" in your life has made you humble. ;)
What? I don't understand. Does this mean you have been accused of being biased before? I am in no way trying to ruffle any feathers, just calling it as I have observed. Am I right? Its called one thing for you guys and another for the other guys. I'm just saying...
My last post has nothing to do with what you said, but who said it. ;)
Dont know about that Mr. AggiesAreWe....If you truly knew about the situation in the Houston area, you would not make broad generalizations about how the Yates HS kids are being "recruited" to the school...and the bias is obvious when it comes to your beloved Silsbee and its "transfers"....Mr. stevenash, I was also being sarcastic (extremely) in saying that Sour Lake was a hot spot of any sort....However when you guys get your "transfers", it does cause one to wonder why would anyone "transfer" TO Sour Lake, Texas.....BUT you guys find it impossible for a kid in the Houston area to WANT to attend Houston Yates HS...They REALLY ARE a magnet school for communications, as stated earlier...While I do not agree with all the high school kids transferring, I can't help but notice the obvious bias when it comes to certain schools in this area when it comes to the topic...On one hand its the "rich getting richer" but on the other its recruiting....which one is it? I guess it depends on where you live and who you root for...I guess.
Hmmm..... this is starting to sound very familiar to me. ;) The ......... is very revealing. ;) Enjoy your visit while it lasts. ::)

West Brook's Robert Redd ruled eligible by UIL
AggiesAreWe replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
The young man moved in the spring, participated in spring game and 7 on 7 this summer. Not sure why the 21-5A district executive committee would not make him eligible. Hopefully Coach Stump can get the UIL approval. -
Did he play on the 7on7 team, and if so didnt they make it to the state tournament. He would have been an ineligible player then.
7 on 7 is not a UIL sanctioned sport. Do not know the requirements to play that sport. -

Poverty stricken? No new development, except for the University? or is it the demographic? I have been over there millions of time and can you believe that, NOTHING has EVER happened to me? Go figure...Its not a "rough" area at all...Its an older, under developed area, that by the way has some MILLION DOLLAR homes located less than 2 miles away from that "rough" area...(MacGregor Area, Medical Center)...The Third Ward of Houston has some fascinating history behind it...which is where Yates HS is located...Do the research.
I don't mean to sound racist ::) but if yall go down just a few blocks from J. Yates off Southmore Street, you will find white people walking their dogs and they live in the area. This area is not a mile from Jack Yates. Explore people-get out of S.E.Texas sometimes. Justin Thomas of WOS ruled ineligible

The marked out date just looks bad. That tells me someone was trying to be deceitful about it. Who is that someone or some persons, is the question. -
We all know that they did not end up at Yates by chance. Anyone who believes that is about as naive as you can be. You don't see a lot of 6'10" people who go to school for communication purposes. I'm not saying the coach himself is the one who is recruiting, b/c I don't know their coach, but someone could be doing it on his behalf. It sounds dirty to me. Again, when did HS basketball start becoming college programs by recruiting kids?
Yates high school basketball coach is none other than Greg Wise, Mr. AAU. He coaches an elite AAU team (of course none of those players on his AAU team play at Yates or that would be illegal ::)) but that doesn't keep him from............ ;) :D
I don't know. He could have and at least that was what I was told when I asked why he hadn't played in the scrimmages. But him being injured is irrelevant now.
I dont think so, I think it very relevant. If he is not injured then why did they allow the media to associate him with the team for this long and if he is injured and that is what has sidelined him, then would we even be having this conversation if he was still healthy?
Good point. I do know that the media only found out about him being ineligible today. -

No wonder why WOS has been on top for so long. I'm just wondering why it took so long for it to come up this year. Last year should have been it for him, and those at WOS knew that!!!!
Last year WAS it for him... So what's the problem? And if your son plays varsity, I'd be willing to be he's already played against a 19 yr old or two this year. It's way more common than you think. And as for you comment about WOS knowing it, they had no idea until Friday... I'll leave it at that.
Gas, I agree with that statement.
He's 20 years old which is allowable in Texas. He's not participating in athletics and WOS is not breaking any rules. He's working towards his high school diploma in preparation for a full scholarship to a great college. What's the problem?
No problem, other than why wasn't this issue resolved this past spring? Why let this get to the first week of the football season then declare him ineligible? He was ineligible for this season on Sept. 15th of last year. Also, why state that the reasons he was missing scrimmages and the first game was due to injury? It just leads one to think that some folks (and I am not suggesting it were coaches) was willing to risk the Mustangs football season. Thomas became ineligible for this year the day he ran his last race at the state track meet this past May. -

It would seem to me to be a liability issue for the WO-S district. Not good mixing 20 year olds with 14-15 year olds.
You would be surprised how many 19 and 20 year olds are in high school.
