1. I have seen both teams multiple times(Central 8 times, Nederland 9 times) including the Central win over Nederland in Nederland. I believe that Nederland has the better coaching staff but Central has the better team. My prediction: Central      61 Nederland  58
 2.

The key here is common oponents.  You guys beat Hightower whereas we lost to them twice, one of those losses were double digits.  Maybe not a cause for concern i guess since it happened earlier in the season.
Plus, Hightower been winning since their football players are through playing now. :D
Ya Dove, every team Nederland has beaten this year gets better later in the season for this reason or that reason!  ::) It just kills you to give them credit, doesn't it?  ??? Oh well, I find it amusing!  ;D ;D Oh ya, Nederland wins this one regardless if Central suits out 5 players or 15. Last I checked, only 5 play at one time.  8)
You are delusional if you are thinking the bench will not play a vital part in this game for both teams. Central is much better off playing with their full complement of players than being short handed like they were before. Will it result in a win like last time for the Jaguars? That remains to be seen.
 3. Just 103 hours till blast off!!
 4.

Interesting week: Tuesday #2 vs. #2 Friday #1 @ #4
I agree! Central (12-7, 3-0) come in at #2 in this week's SETXsports.com poll after defeating then #11 LCM 63-26 on Friday. 6.
What was the last year of that rivalry,  I can remember being there but was young enough not to remember much more.  I do remember hearing something about fights among fans after the game.
Hebert's last year was 1982, my senior year. We split in district that year, each winning at home. Both teams were ranked #1 and #2 in state in 4A all year. Played the district playoff game in the Beaumont Civic Center (there was no Montagne at the time). Winner went to the playoffs (back then only the district champion went to the playoffs). Hebert won 60-56 and went on to win the state championship that year. The next year, Silsbee made it to the state tourney ('83).
 7. I absolutely love the HJ/Silsbee games. They are always fantastic, great atmosphere!! But, having been to both HJ/Silsbee and Beaumont Hebert/Silsbee games(played in those games), I would have to say the Hebert/Silsbee games were a little more intense and exciting. Hard to imagine, but those Hebert games were very very heated, to say the least.
 8.
Thanks is there any loss of eligibility if my child is in sports?
UIL could still rule that the move is for athletic reasons. Your child may not be eligible for varsity sports. Will just depend on their ruling.
 9.
Splendora is ahead of Coldspring?  Wow. I'd like to know what that ranking is based off of.
That was last week's rankings if you will look at the date. That was before the Coldspring win over Splendora. The new rankings will be out tomorrow.
 10. Poll will likely be released on Feb. 20th.
 11. I will start a pickem contest this week starting with Friday night's games. It will work the same as the football pickems except for two little differences. There will only be 20 games selected instead of 25 and the games will have point spreads attached to them. Your picks will have to take into consideration whether the point spread is or isn't covered by the favored team. I will post the schedule of games Wed. morning.
 12. Score by quarters                         1          2            3          4        ot        tot Silsbee              12        19          22        22      10          85 Navasota          19        16          24        16        0          75 Individual scoring Silsbee Chris Elam                  21 Kelton Gaines              15 Patrick Reed              12 Zayon Jackson            12 Jordan Holmes            11 Donti Wilson                7 Jake Dobbins                7 Navasota Baker                        21 Lowery                      14 McGinty                    11 Lipscomb                    8 Creeks                        8 Collins                        5 Hall                            4 Jefferson                    2 Sauls                          2
 13. Favorite memory was probably the 2010 Regional final game where Silsbee won 53-50. Got to see Coach Travis Williams do the Coach T Shuffle!!!!!! ;D ;D Best game was probably the 2007 Regional final game when HJ beat Silsbee 84-79 in overtime.
 14. It's now basketball's time at the top of the forums here at SETXsports!! All our local teams will finally be in district play starting this week (some already 2-3 games in). Let's hear it!!
 15. Another 3A score from Friday night, this time between the two region III finalists from last year: #17 Mexia      73     Athens      63
 16. Final La Porte      46 Deer Park    39      OT
 17. Overtime La Porte    39 Deer Park  39
 18. La Porte led 34-22 with 3:33 left. Deer Park is on a 11-0 run. 1:45 left La Porte    34 Deer Park    33
 19. Just checked the Houston Chronicle. Halftime score of the football game between La Porte and Deer Park was 14-7 La Porte. The final was 34-31 La Porte. There is a chance that this basketball game could be less total points that their football game.
 20. Halftime La Porte    15 Deer Park  11 Yes, it's 15-11 at the half. Curious as to what the score was at the halftime of their football game this past season.
 21.
I think the 1000 number was for the ladies game, the announced attendance for the men was about 3200 and being there I would say that was fairly accurate.  Need students to start attending.
Glad to hear this. I was a bit concerned.
 22.
wats going on with the Wac
Two of their best players got hurt in football, cannot play this season. Then a couple of weeks ago, Coach West kicked off 4 of his players (3 starters) for failing a drug test. The varsity is basically a JV team and will remain that way the rest of the season.
 23.
!!
Heard there was less than 1000 in attendance. But....... BOB KNIGHT WAS THERE!!!!! ::) Good win Cards, keep it going!
