I was suprised at a good turnout on a wet nasty Saturday. I've been there before when half the crowd of today was there and they announce 4000+?? Go figure. Defense was very good. Lot of break away baskets. UTSA can shoot! If he was ope from three he hit it...Didn't matter who HE was! %40 as a team on the season.
It was the announced crowd. Official attendance number. -
Dickie- I want to give you an alternate point of view. In spite of your basketball pedigree, you only know basketball from the top down as opposed to the bottom up. By that I am talking about where you played, where you were coached and people you were associated with. It is well established about Mr. Bouttes success but, Kountze, Lincoln and Ozen? You have got to agree that if you walk into those places you have a head start already. I know Ozen was a new school but the gene pool was very predisposed to basketball and it was a magnet school. Also, it is often as easier job to take a new school up from Zero than an established school from -50. You and Mr. Boutte have no record of turning a very failed program or basketball culture on its ear. So I would suggest to you that if you take the job at Bridge City next year and within a few years have a 29 game district winning streak, I will consider that a MAMMOTH accomplishment. Mr. Boutte has NEVER entered a situation where there was ZERO talent, ZERO basketball culture, Zero basketball interest and turned it around by developing it hiimself with no administrative support and with no assistants who were dedicated to basketball. No disrespect to Mr. Boutte but it is simply an experience he has never had and that is not intended to say he is any less for having been in good situations the bulk of his career. You and I have had this discussion in private and you know that I was very close to a situation similar to what I am talking about. So, in this case, I can personally testify as to what a big task it is. Therefore, I think, if you take ALL conditions into consideration, that 29 game streak is a very huge deal.
Very well stated!!! Great post Nash.

'92, yes. I was confused with how the UIL had those years listed on that link. But, Silsbee did beat Lincoln in '85 in district as well. ;)
-
So, to be accurate, Lincoln could have a district win streak from '92-'99, not '85-'02. ;)
DV, you sure about that 1985-2002 district streak by PA Lincoln? I am pretty confident that Silsbee had a few wins against Lincoln in district during that span.
Silsbee and Lincoln were not in the same district....They were in the district with Nederland, LCM, Bridge City, WOS, and PNG.
Incorrect. There were a few years in that span that those two were in the same district. '85 thru '91 they were in the same district. Also a couple of times in the 90's.
Silsbee and Lincoln PLAYED each other annually in the 90's but were not in the same district then during those years...Pre 1990, I am not sure if Silsbee was in that district or not, but I remember Coach Gamble teasing Boutte about having a "close" district game during his first season...He said they had not lost in district since 84. I will get either of them on the horn a find out for certain....give me a minute.
Silsbee and Lincoln were in the same district from '83 to '87, then '90-'91. In '91 Silsbee was district champions, Lincoln was runner up. Silsbee won both games. You are correct in the fact that the two teams were not in the same district from 1992 to 2003.

You can't even get it right anyway. I assume you are jumping up and down from this one victory. Like I said, I compare to our past records. Who gives a crap about 30 year old games? I am constantly reminded of not living in the past.
Well, your fellow Bulldog fan did start this thread asking for comparisons, so therefore the comparisons. ::)
